Xbox unveils full 2008 software line-up

MCV writes: "Gears of War 2, Too Human, Fable 2 and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts all arriving before Christmas.

Unfortunate internet leaks may have reduced the wow factor, but Microsoft Game Studios has finally revealed its list of big-hitting 360 software releases from now until the end of the year.

The platform holder is set to confirm the list at its product showcase in San Francisco later today."

I think gears might get pushed. Fable 2 and Gears 2 both gunning for a Christmas release date tells me one of them will get pushed. Since Fable 2 is content complete and only bug testing remains, i'm guessing they are placing Fable 2 for Xmas just in case Gears gets pushed so they still have a good Christmas exclusive to push

According to this release date list both of them are slated for Christmas. Maybe in the UK holidays is Xmas i don't know. My point is considering how big Gears 2 will be for Msoft releasing those 2 titles in Christmas just doesn't make sense.

@Saiyan Jin Most gamers only buy one game at a time. No one buys a game every week or every 2 weeks even. Majority of gamers will be forced to choose between gears and fable if they release too close

@AngryXbot- Holidays in the US starts in Novemeber through the New Year, not just December. Matter of fact, in terms of sales the day after Thanksgiving is the highest retail day of the year. Most devs try to realease their games right before Thanksgiving.

Back on topic, I see both getting released this holday season. As they are not competing against each other, becuase they are completly diffrent games.

anyway. too human in august will be getting bought. gears/banjo and viva pinata(both for the missus and me) and fable2 also...not bad at-all.

i'm still undecided about ng2 though

The day after thanksgiving is the biggest sales day of the year. It starts the holiday season.

And guess what? It's in November.

I think certain games should stay exclusive NG and Splinter cell should stay on the 360 and MGS4 and FF should stay on the ps3. It would be rediculous if every game was multiplatform.

Every gamer gets to play every game. Sounds good to me. The only hitch is if companies port instead of building from the ground up, but all the big publishers know better for the big games. Besides Orange Box, which is a special situation, I can't think of any big games that got messed up by being multiplatform.

i look at my 360 and i just am not getting that excited anymore.i think ultimately that blame falls at the feet of microsoft.gears will be great but im not expecting any suprises, maybe too human will be the sleeper.i have to believe with microsofts track record of sales with familt friendly software, that banjo will bomb sales wise.i just dont see the cod 4 and halo crowd pre ordering that game

i get excited by high quality games like gears , cod 4 mgs 4 gta 4, , certainly not viva pinata and banjo as a character is irrelevant in my opinion, maybe on the wii it would be

Ill be getting both banjo and viva pinata 2. They both look good, are different than just another FPS that people go on about.

If its not people complaing about the xbox being too hardcore because of its games, its the other half complaing about the diversity that MS are trying to bring to the platform.

i own every system, i am like everyone else in here, i play the games im interested in and pass on the ones im not because at 60 dollars a pop, i cant afford to play games i dont like . i am only looking at that line up and thinking its not going to get one single person to buy the 360 if they dont already have one under the tv ,anyone buying gears 2 is already a 360 owner.they would have bought the 360 for gears 1 if they were compelled by the series

Last year i almost bought a 360 for their lineup mass effect in particular since bioshock and halo felt overrated when i played them in my friends house but this year i dont see anything tempting me to go buy it.

I feel sorry for banjo since once again its gonna be the other game that comes out near gears and will be ignored which will solidify the xbox´s hardcore only position. Which Microsoft should realize by now is a useless proposition since hardcores in general own all the systems.

i would love to read exactly why anyone would disagree with my fir st post please for all those that have an opinion on the matter . does microsoft have a good track record with family style games or those aimed at kids. viva , blink, scene it.?...does anyone not htink banjo would sell milliond on the wii, and do they think it will actually cause someone to buy a 360?

i agree a game like Banjo will sell huge amounts on the wii but you must understand that MS is not JUST looking at family games like Banjo to rake in the money.Banjo is the most important game for the x360 this year. Why?. Because it will be the game most people will look at to see if MS is serious about expanding its x360 audiance. Gears 2 and co will keep the already established fanbase happy but games like Banjo and Viva 2 will try to look at enticing a broader range of gamers which is crucial for the xbox bussiness future.

I am sure by now MS understands that in other to dominate they must be consistent. Its not just a matter of getting out blockbuster titles that sells millions like Halo3,Mass effect etc once in a while. Its about putting out just as good games consistently that may not sell as much but more importantly draws in more gamers from different backgrounds even if its just a small amount of people at a time. Games like Lost oddesy and blue dragon are prime examples. They are good games that although might not have sold as much as the likes of halo but they are non the less just as important in building up the x360 JRPG fanbase. Believe me when i say that when the next xbox is out. Lost Oddesy will be another title people will mention as a game worth buying a new xbox console for. This is how PS dominated two gens in a row. I wonder if MS will be serious enough to do it.

microsoft will have to position banjo to the hardcore crowd because the casual and family players arent there, aND THEN IF THEY TAKE THAT APPROACH it goes against what you were saying, and pinata just aint happening on the 360.even sony had to turn ratchet and jak into games that were cool enough for the hard core and appealing enough for parents to buy for the kids.if pinata had nintendo on the package it would sell, but thats a whole other topic.

Don't forget about the great third party multi-platform games that are coming like Battlefield: Bad Company, Alone in the Dark, Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, Soulcalibur IV, Left 4 Dead, Midnight Club: Los Angeles , Silent Hill: Homecoming , Star Wars: The Force Unleashed , Dead Space , Fallout 3, just to name a few, but I agree from the first party games are looking kind of weak this year but I think that is only because the 360 has real competition this year.
