Kombo: Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack Review

Kombo writes: "Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in. That's Bungie's hope anyway, as they've thrown yet another set of DLC to sway fans back over from whatever other shooters they may have drifted towards in the last several months – like, say, Call of Duty 4 for example. The battle between Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 for the top of the Xbox Live chart is well-documented and neither Bungie nor Infinity Ward have been shy about declaring that they want to be king of the hill. With the Legendary Map Pack, Bungie is banking on nostalgia and fan service to bring lapsed Halo 3 players back into the fold.

Ghost Town is the only genuinely new map in the Legendary Map Pack, which makes it either the most exciting or the least exciting of the bunch depending on who you ask. It's definitely the most visually interesting map in the pack, since it looks significantly different from any other map in the game to date. Set in proximity to the jungles of Sierra 117, Ghost Town takes place in the long-abandoned remains of a water-processing plant that clearly took a few lumps in battle. The setting provides an interesting combination of aesthetics, as the decayed industrial architecture is slowly being reclaimed by the untamed jungle."
