We do have a release date for UT3 360, says Rein

Epic boss Mark Rein has told videogaming247 that the company does know a release date for Unreal Tournament 3 on Xbox 360, but you're going to have to wait a little longer to get it.

"We do, but I don't think we put it out yet," said Rein when asked if the SKU had a release date. "It's kind of a when it's done thing. We have an idea of when it's coming. We have a big Midway Gamer's Day next week, in fact, in Las Vegas, where Midway's invited a whole bunch of people to come and play the game. I'm sure after that happens you'll see lots of impressions of the game."

There's over 120 maps for the PS3 version. Tons of mutators, dozens of downloadable character skins and etc. Waste of a 360 port if you ask me.

Doesn't feel old to me. Free maps, mods, mutators and character skins make this game young every time a new one is released. I love it and it's a game that just keeps getting better with age. Those that gave up on it early should consider picking it up again and downloading al the FREE stuff that you will never see on the MS version... If/when it ever releases.

All I need is 15 other people to play with on a Midway PSN server and that's not a problem. I don't let sales of a game determine whether or not I will play it. Besides you can always play bots when things are slow.

What was your point again?

I enjoy UT3 so much that I actually might pick it up on the 360 as well. Some of my friends don't own a PS3 "yet" so I want to be able to flak cannon them to pieces. The game really is a blast to play if your are into old school fast action FPS shooters.

With these comments my point goes way over your head friend..with 400K people owning this game...factor in half of those people dont play online...and if you think about it..too get the full experience of this game...you have to be online...now what i was asking since I posted on the bottom that midway servers were the worst way too play this game...if you got 200K people how many of those people actually play the game without any lag and other problems i was asking.

And about your comment about sales...sales is a big factor in how many people there are too play online with...I have been seeing sales for rainbow six vegas and I might jump on it this weekend.

Know that the people who's buying this more than likely are buying it for the online. Knowing that only a small number bought it, it's very much likely that small number knows enough about the game and that it's all about the online.

Even if it's "only" 200k playing online, that is WAY more than enough. SOCOM: CA which has on average about 25k players each day is VERY much alive. And out of the 7-8 millions or wutnot of Halo 3's sold or COD4, only a small fraction play online. Last time I checked on Halo 3, I saw 200k playing. Reality is, that you don't need more than 1k playing online to find the satisfaction of online gaming. Most games only allow up to 16-players remember?

Sales numbers are a moot point when there is more than enough people playing online.

Well done, you can read forums, excellent.

Personally I talk from actual experience, I own the game, I play the game, I produce MODs for the game. I've logged more hours into than most have on CoD4. I know what I'm talking about.

But hey, if you'd rather believe things in forums than try something for yourself then i guess you'll be the one missing out. People complain about everything, even dedicated servers.

I just want a sodding demo. Rein always backtracks everything he says, if they could cut us a demo for the 360 and let us see how it plays then i'd be happy.

Otherwise though i'm more excited about what it means for Live if they have indeed managed to rustle up some way of downloading cooked mods for free on the 360.

Maybe it'll come after a dashboard update that has a web browser ;)

lol there hardly any wait on the psn servers, and everyone i go to is lag free, no matter the game. I am not making this up, RFOM 40 multi is completly lag free to me, thats the main reason i got UT3 for ps3 this time around, instead of PC.

You Sony guys are great with your talk of free mods.Smart though it is, most Xbox owners are more anxiously waiting for GOW to care about this.Although Unreal undoubtedly plays well enough and mods are a nice addition, it would have been a better opportunity had Epic released this either first on 360 or at the same time they launched on PC PS3.Too much FPS to choose from on 360 in this genre.

It should still sell reasonably well but this sort of game is better suited to how Live is already up and running with it's larger numbers and should really have been launched along side other versions.Epic made a bad choice in the first place neglecting to choose 360 for the launch of it's game and i think that will show in the sales

Doesn't matter, UT III, like every other UT game, is not a very interesting game. Check the sales of this franchise, they are awful. Mods are meaningless when the game gets boring within a week.

Do yourself a favor, save your $$$ for Gears = the best game Epic has ever made. There are way too many FPS's out there that are far better & much more enjoyable than UT III.

Hell No. The UT franchise is one of my favorites. The first was interesting and inovative, i liked the whole "future gladiator" type thing. the second is where the mods came. I got mod after mod, and each one was exceptionally done, always a new vehicle, always a new map, everytime you play. UT has been part of Epics leagacy far longer then gear.

UT2K4 is suppose to be better than UT3 anyways, the only thing that UT3 has going for it by the looks of it is the graphics and the engine it uses.

I'm waiting for Gears of War 2 which is seeing a bigger improvement. Anyways, I'm not sure if it will sell that much on the 360 anyways...

the ut series to begin with ever since utc on the xbox. Was never a fan of the really fast pace games similar to quake arena. The mods may be free but the game isn't fun for me to purchase it. Though this is just me and my opinion. I hope anyone who buys it enjoy the purchase.

I play on PC some of the maps are even more impressive then crysis. Already a boat load of custom maps.

360 owners would have a great ol MP time with this especially if it came with achievments mods or not they would get map packs. Hope they don't charge for those though that would be a rip off.
The single player is A$$ though.

It's not much to some people, especially the pron-sony around here but:

360 gives you:
rumble
voice chat
achievements
leaderboards
1080p/scaled output
custom soundtracks
cross game invites
(better control pad..)

as *standard* over the ps3 - i'll welcome psn when it's as good but until then i'll get everything on 360.

Your right, the extra time and tech will make this version superior thats for sure. To bad it's not the other way around for the PS3, they spend extra time there, and it still comes out sub-par.

IMO no UT will ever be as good as the first one but Unreal Championship 2 came close. I got UT3 on my PC, although I'm more of a Quake fan. I will give the 360 version a rent so I can do my own side by side. Who knows if UT3 (360) looks and plays better than UT3 (PC) on my big screen, I might just trade up.

haha...no...

no mod support with an Unreal game equals instant fail...there is not a prayer that UT3 on the 360 will come close to the PS3 version...and that is why 360 owners don't care about this game...You have obviously never played this game though, because you would instantly see that there is little room for improvement on a short scale...the PS3 version runs flawlessly, and has some of the best textures of a console game to date...the draw distances are incredible, and the character models/animation are great...It only suffers from the same thing every other UE3 game does...lame not truely dynamic lighting w/ tons of bloom...

'extra time with tech' will only take it so far...Rein already said the 360 version will not be different in terms of tech than the already released versions (when probed about whether or not the 360 version of UT3 would have any of the Gears 2 stuff)...the extra time with the engine will show in Gears 2...not in UT3...and you will only have access to a totally gimped version of a great game...Not to mention that its also confirmed to ship with less maps, do to less disc space...

and the other thing...I really can't wait to see if you take advantage of the game install option...For about 3 months you went on a fanatical offensive to compare the PS3 to a PC (somehow thats a bad thing in your mind)...that is if Epic even gives you the option...but as it stands now...the PS3 version of UT3 is the ONLY console UE3 game to not have the 2 minutes of texture streaming everyone loves...I know you loved it in ME, so maybe you will be fine without installing it...

this will be the biggest multiplatform failure for the 360 so far...
