Battlefield: Bad Company boycott video

After starting a boycott against EA's Battlefield: Bad Company, Sarcastic Gamer has produced this hilarious "commercial" for Bad Company, complete with all of the "touches" of an EA game.

From the article: "Well, its been a while since we've released a parody/satire video, but the hiatus ends as EA literally handed us an ammo box by deciding to charge EXTRA for WEAPONS in a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Hit the jump and see the vid!"

That is pretty good. EA is a joke and the whole DLC has just become a way to nickle and dime a gamer. What happened to the good old days were little DLC was free and big releases were called expansion packs? Oh that was on the PC like four years ago. lol

Simply put, gaming is becoming more and more of a business, especially for the companies currently at the top like EA. They've got shareholders that want to make money. So whatever makes the money is what gets made. Of course, should EA piss off the gaming community, they might make less... unless the casual gamers don't realize they're getting screwed.

Personally, I don't think the casual gaming market is that interested in FPS's, so trying to market it the way EA is trying seems like it's going to fail to me.

People can understand paying for maps and new game modes. People rightfully cannot comprehend paying for essentially what is different weapon skins with different attributes.

The EA mentality is more akin to FOX news than Gamers views. Look at Army of Two, another game they ruined with it's unscrupulous and dishonourable ethics and principles.
In most other games the rationale behind FPS killing used to be simple and sensibly removed from reality.
It's clear that what EA were referring to when they used to say "It's in the Game" was Money.
Fair enough, make a healthy profit but without losing integrity or respect.

There is a difference. In that. "Oh here is our game but for the best experience you can pay more at purchase" and Infinity ward saying "We have been working the past 4 months on some map packs for COD4, from user feedback and our own in house testing we have tried to make some stuff we think you will enjoy. These will be brought to you for a reasonable price from our work" There is a big difference there. EA is leaving it out to nickle and dime gamers while infinity ward gave you a complete game and are offering an expansion. Not holding out on you for later...

12 - I never liked the idea of DLC. and paying extra for something already on the disc is just dumb.
I like to think when I spend the $60 on a game that I get the hole game and dont have to pay extra to get the "full experiance" of content I already have

Wow, I would have considered getting this game but I think I'll stick with COD now. EA I don't know what you're thinking.

What I really want to know is if they're willing to try this, are there actually people that will buy it? Or are they just testing the market? I know I won't be buying this game now.

18 - I have been looking forward to this game since it was announced years ago.
I want to play this game, and I want to have fun blowing stuff up. But I refuse to buy it now. I refuse to buy DLC, I refuse to buy this game, and I refuse to ever buy another EA game again.

Thanks EA, keep it up. You're chasing me back to the PC.
