Microtransactions piss me off

TVGB: "Microtransactions are a trend I fear in gaming as I honestly think it can only bring ruin to the industry. Certainly, the corporations can make gobs of more money in the process, but what about We, the gamers?"

Nice pic, btw. $2.50 for horse armor?
I agree, though. Paying so much for so little is just complete BS! DLC will make alot of gamers stray. EA is especially guilty with this. DLC is fine if it's at a reasonable price, made AFTER the completed game, not taken out of the completed game only to put online and sell for it. There really ought to be laws or something regarding DLC. It's unfair for the consumer.
If EA does take T2(or was that denied?), I could just imagine... Paying 5 dollars for certain guns. Paying 10 bucks for a 3 pack of cars. 20 bucks for 3 more missions to finish the series. 40 for an "expansion" that could have easily been on the game. F*cking greedy money hungry businesses. All of them!
I agree with this article completely. If anything, horse armor should be 25 cents, if that. And that's really all I know of that is extremely overpriced on the XBL Marketplace. Everything EA is giving out is overpriced, I know that.
I hope EA doesn't make a console and monopolize the industry. My wallet will probably die should that happen. Or maybe I'll get a life by then, who knows?
Anyway, I'm done ranting... If you disagree(and I don't see how many of you can) please say why?!

Map packs are OK in my book but as soon as we start paying for content that is ALREADY ON THE DISC, thats when it's gone too far.

I won't pay for cruft, but I'll kick in a few bucks if it makes the experience more worthwhile.
When I used to spend some time in Second Life the only money I ever put into the game was about $10 to buy a cheap-but-good skin, some decent clothes and something that reasonably resembled hair. I had a good time with Second Life, so it was worth the money. Anything else I bought in the game came with money won in various ways.
Once I won $5,000+ Lindens when some moron accidentally paid a sploder all of his money, over $100,000 Lindens. He was begging for people to give him his money back, but everyone just teleported away.

6 - You don't have to buy it, but that's where the issue lies
Why do I pay full price for a title only to find out that extract content, extracted under development, is offered at microraping prices? I don't mind DLC being offered at a reasonable price , but if I have to pay for guns, horses and etc... You can forget my money.
From what I have seen Warhawk, it looks like a fun and awesome shooter, but I don't personally like the whole expansion packs released now and then. I wouldn't mind one big package at a reasonable price containing new vehicles and maps, but the way it's currently doing it really doubts whether I should purchase the game when I get my PS3 because it creates confusion (Correct me if I'm wrong) and alienates people.

7 - It's better to use real money (that has no sales tax by the way) than points like in the third grade...
This way you know exactly how much you payed. Who in the world would pay $5 for a gun? (I have a doctor you can visit..lol) I don't pay for dlc unless it makes sense (this is a rare occasion.) Never for weapons! On PSN, if it's a $4.99 GAME on sale, pull out your method of pay (5 bucks), and it will leave that copper penny alone..lol You have to be smart in life.

eff this microtransaction trend that's trying to become the norm. Im not totally against it but 'armour and guns' wtf. If its true then we have to make a stand. Vote with our wallets by not purchasing stupid dlc or better still avoid their games altogether.
are EA becoming the anti christ of gaming??

If Microtransactions are done right then the community supports it. If it's done crappy then we don't, it's that simple.

Yep.
Don't pay for these things they offer as DLC, then that will send the message to the higher-ups.

12 - Exception
What about Rock Band people. That is probably the best implement of DLC. Ever. It works perfectly.
Every week some new songs come out that have been developed after the game's release
and you can CHOOSE to buy them.
For the people with "but..."
Sure, the metallica pack was probably developed before the
game's release. But why would they put more of one band than another?
In my opinion Rock band DLC is how Dlc should work. Optional, non required, additional content
that you can choose to purchase, at a reasonable price.
Thank you.

On the contrary, Rock Band and Guitar Hero are the most shameless uses of DLC ever.
I can't believe how much extra money you can spend on those games, when they ALREADY cost 100 + dollars EACH!!
It's unbelievable!

13 - We need mods.
I think it's time the console community demand access to mods and users created content that's just laying around on the PC. If you look at games like Oblivion and CoD 4 its incredibly obvious how much we're getting screwed. PC players would NEVER pay for map packs and stupid crap like horse armor because they could do it better than the developers can.
