EA has responded to Geekpulp about the region locking found in the online section of Army of Two, they have some valid reasons but Lag and international play is not one of them.

1 - IS that on both console or only 360?
I make the statement regarding to the picture of the game. That would suck, i like playing with my american friends..

2 - I know that US and EU gamers are okay with a little lag...
...but for those of us in Asia and Oceania, the lag between us and people in the EU or US sucks. Massively. As in, COD4 becomes completely unplayable due to lag when there's even one European or North American in the game.

I know for many people this regional thing stinks, but for me and a lot of others, this is awesome. No lag = great fun.

Of course, it'd be better if they just gave you the option of choosing who you want to play with.

That can be done without region locking the game.
All they have to do is look what region the users PSN is in.

I know, I'm just saying that I'm not worried about it because of that.

Honestly, I don't know why so many console FPSs have such crappy lobby systems. If you could choose your own server based on ping, I'd be much happier. (Yes, I'm looking at you, COD4.)

4 - I like how they mentioned Resistance at the end
"This deterministic approach applies to both PS3 and 360. Something to note as well is that Resistance: Fall of Man was also region-locked when it started."

Now get to work on NOT making it region locked and allow us a smooth gameplay worldwide.

EDIT: @ Meus. They I don't get why he mentioned it. I may have skipped a whole paragraph though ;D

Except Resistance doesn't suffer from Lag. It has dedicated servers - to which this game is just P2P

6 - it's about time for region filtering
but it should be an option though. god, i'm from the uk, and the frustration of being put in an american hosted gane on the likes of cod4 and halo is beyond compare. i have'nt played halo 3 since october because of it, and i can see cod4 going the same way after the patch. the other day i was playing crap game after crap game on american hosted bouncy laggy rubbish. some games were taking a quarter of the mag before the shots were registering with the p90.

now there's 11 million subs on live, and there's plenty of people playing in every region, it would be easy to fill games even with region filtering.

and i'm sure there's plenty of american gamers who feel the same when they are put in uk hosted matches....not to mention, how nice it is on the ears when i don't have to play american teens! i've got a few good american guys on friend list, but they are all well out of their teens, and are much more mature.

so yeah, i think it could be a good thing if it's done correctly. or if you are given the choice. ea have probably done it because they've created a game that plays so bad on line, and is so latent, that blocking the regions was the only way of making it work..

i won't find out because i won't give ea my money.

6.1 - i kinda agree
im from australia so ill lag whether its an EU or US server and not having a ping filter in COD4 can really suck. being matched to american game time and time again, only having 1 or 2 bars of latency and being slaughtered because of it gets old real quick

im not sure region locking is the answer but being able to browse available games and choosing the one with best latency is!
