based off worldwide sales figures, ps3 will continue to dominate the xbox 360 for pretty much every month this yr. The battle in EU is already won. Despite msoft sales cut, there really aren't any games to take advantage of this except for GTA. Sony too will slice prices due to reduced production costs, to keep the ps3 as the best blu ray player and most importantly to stay in the competition. And with so many high profiled games like socom,GT5, MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, KZ2, Motorstorm 2, GTA4 coming out, it will further stretch ps3's lead over xbox360 especially in the european market. Things will remain close between playstation and 360 most of the yr but a price drop and some really good games will give ps3 the edge for some months this yr. However i don't think the general US consumers has moved towards playstation yet, some ps2 owners are still unsure of how the ps3 is doing and are waiting for things to smoothen out. All the same sony could come out with sony's gamer day and introduce new footage of some brand new games and revealing gameplay trailer for GOW3 at E3 will definetly get everyone pumped for the playstation brand once again

miserssippi, the simExchnage is notoriously innaccurate, even in it's statistics (not prediticons) it apparently claimed PS3 sold 80k less than it had in a week January, and you just posted evdidence of a prediciton anywayl, which by defintion isn't evidence at all.

Price has always been a major factor, especially in this generation. With MS's price cut, it not only makes their consoles sell faster, but it also slows down sales from people anticipating a sony price-cut, which seems likely because it will help to grab the gamers adopting a console solely for GTA. Plus, people are still waiting for 80 gb ps3 consoles with backwards compatibility. Blu-ray can't be overlooked, but there aren't any big ps3 exclusives coming in March. While there are some huge games coming, they aren't actually out yet. April, May, and June however, are a different story. A lot of gamers might just end up waiting till then. Considering that the ps3 sales lead hasn't been very wide, the 360 had a good chance to pick up steam.

I think the PS3 has the edge into the summer, with the Blu-ray advantage, and given GT5 and the new MGS4 bundle (as well as the game release itself). I do agree, however, that Gears will move a lot of 360's. No doubt of that.

Who exactly will buy Gears of War 2? Oh yeah, the same guys who bought Gears of War 1 and Halo 3 that's who. I don't expect Gears of War 2 to sell that many consoles. It will sell alot of copies but I highly doubt it will move as many consoles.

but thats not fair to the 360 or MS...for whatever reason...all these analysts only talk about NA...which is a territory that the 360 still has a chance in...the rest of the world?...not so much...360 fanboys keep getting huffy and 'leaving this site because its run by droids'...with all the other negative news surrounding the 360, pointing out that its been in third place for close to a year in worldwide sales...they would all throw another fit and leave entirely...

and what fun would that be?...

N4G has been put on bad-360-news lockdown...No news about RRoD anymore...and no news about the 360 getting outsold worldwide week after week since before anyone even gave the PS3 credit...if news like that keeps popping up...the 360 fanboys will get pissed and leave...and we wouldn't want that to happen...
