COD4 patch ruins the experience

looking at what was added, compared to what has now been taken away, it was not worth it.

i am happy it came out because if it had not, i would have happily continued playing it and never bother with another game.

now, i just can't wait for vegas and gta....i will quite happily throw cod4 out the first chance i get now.

great game + patch = laggy not so great game.

2.1 - Possibly stupid question, but...
I haven't been on CoD4 for a few weeks now and wasn't sure if this patch has hit for the PS3. Is this patch ruining the experience for all consoles? Or just the 360? I also assume that you're forced to patch the game to get online? Don't know any game that gives you the option like firmware updates.

Thanks, Adam. I didn't think it was out for PS3 yet, but wasn't sure. I hope that patch doesn't fack up the great online play. I rarely had any problems with lag with CoD4.

i'm tired of unloading on a guy while his back is totally turned only for them to somehow twist around, warp 2-3 ft, then shoot me dead. Kill cam showing me he never had his back turned. Lag in such a deadly game really really really sux.

3.3 - Worse on weekends FIX THE LAAAAG PLEASE
I'm done... I just can't take this anymore. When I read that they fixed this sh!t, I'll play CoD4 again. But it's too frustrating seeing one thing while alive and then seeing something totally different in your killer's cam. I'm constantly a 1/2 second behind everybody, which totally ruins everything.

thats the scary part....

to be honest though, i never had a problem with the way it was before the patch. the only thing they need to sort was the host ending the game just to get an easy win.

if you ask me personally, i don't even want a new patch, just undo the new one ( if thats possible ).

to the guy below..

it is funny that people complain when they loose, and still complain when they win, but if you were refereing to my complaints, well my kill death has just been going up steadily.

i am not saying i am the best, or in the top 100 or anything, but i can hold my corner well. my ratio is above 2.00. if you play on live then you are welcome to send me a friend request and we can get a few games going :-)

Do you mean the glitches where you climb fences and get into buildings, or the ones which get you behind the map and let you see through walls?

The ones where people get into buildings are okay with me. I don't know how to do it, but if they can, all the power to them. Those aren't glitchers, just people with lots of time on their hands to practice.

The glitchers are the ones who get underneath the map, get into statics, and use lag switches. Those ones make me annoyed.

Thats why sony hasn't release the patch yet they want to make sure it running smooth for the ps3. But on the other hand just like there hardware M$ just bypass QC and ran it out the door just to be first. Hey M$ sometimes first doesn't= good

it feels like the PS3 already got the patch but they dont want to say so because its messing up the game. I never seen so much lagged out games or host leaving crap

i stop playing about 4 days ago and bought The Show and also got back into Warhawk. Warhawk is still the best online game out there

I will go back to COD 4sure. I will be playing this game till atleast Socom.

Remember COD2 - horrible lag at first, but they fixed it.

Here's why - they are coming out with new maps very soon, and likely more after that. This game could be a cash cow for awhile if they keep it running well - they don't want to lose that opportunity and turn off potential sales.

There could be new weapons, perks, maps, match types(I'm still waiting for "War" from COD3 - Domination is good, but I miss the moving up the frontline aspect - and I don't want Frontlines: Fuel of War)

i've just moved to france from the uk. i had a decent connection in the uk which had a nice upload of 1.3meg. quite a few people on my friends list all have gone with the same provider aswell.

now i'm in france, i have an even better fibre connection to my house. but since this patch, me and my pals can't seem to get host at-all! even when are all in a party together aswell. yesterday i was playing game after game in american hosted, laggy bouncing rubbish!

some games took a quater of the mag on the p90 before the hits where even registering!! it really does seem like a great game as just became a halo clone!

i've been with xbox live for four years now. but i can see myself ditching live for the psn when resistance 2 hits. i know cod4 on the psn runs on dedicated servers, and if r2 and kz2 are gonna be as good a they are looking, and microsoft don't start getting their act together, then i'll be fragging you soon on those great sounding dedicated servers. i'm gonna wait til the end of the year to see how things pan out on live...

otherwise, it's adieau as the say over here!

CoD 4 on Playstation 3 doesn't run on dedicated servers. It's peer to peer just like Live. Go to Inifintyward.com to find out for yourself. Like PimpHandStrong said it feels like the PS3 version has already gotten this patch. When you kill someone in free-for-all you spawn only a seconds away from them and can come right back to kill them. I also noticed increased lag when playing the game. It also sucks that this game doesn't fix host migration the biggest issue I had with the game.

..no amount of sticky tape or band aids can fix the COD4 lobby system as it is and always will be a smelly dogs turd. Why in hell did Infinity Ward (IW) not take a page out of the COD3 book or take a look at how other GOOD lobby systems function. Motorstorm, Halo 3, Warhawk all feature what I would consider good to excellent lobby systems. Basically, you get to chose which game you wish to join based on your connection speed to the host. You can even chose to host if you like.

Why did IW opt for a COD2 type lobby system?????

By the way, I was booted from the IW site when I made a comment that the lobby system was created from the point of view that everyone lives in America. All the Yanks jumped on my case and got me booted. God bless the US of A.

Did IW run out of space on the DVD and thats why they could only manage such a crippled lobby system?
