Rumor: Fable 2 ships May 30

According to a listing on the Amazon UK product page for Fable 2, the anticipated sequel to Peter Molyneux's original Xbox-exclusive role-playing game, a date has been set for a spring release. The listing shows Fable 2 will hit store shelves on May 30.

Take this with a giant retailer wants preorders grain of salt, but it could make sense. If Gears of War 2 was to hit in fall of 2008 then Fable 2 could be the game that leads into the fourth quarter push much like Crackdown did in 2007.

it would and it wouldn't make sense to release it then.

it would that it would give the 360 a boost that a big game is coming out around that time.

it wouldn't as its not a busy shopping time and may hamper sales, but if you release to near gears 2 then it will get shadowed out.

I for one hope that it does come out may 30th, only if its ready though and not rushed.

There is no reason to think it is being rushed. MGS has had incredibly high-quality standards. Im confident they are picking the date they want. Not that they "need".

These projects are well planned.

That said, I wish it was a little later really. Im not going to be finished the first run of Lost Odyssey by then.

Im was going to pre-order Fable 2 - and I will if there is incentive (discounts or free content) - but if not, I'll be waiting a couple weeks just to finish up a couple games.

The first Fable was rushed out before all of Peter's ideas could be implemented... if this release date is true then this one will be a rushed mess as well. I already find it troubling that the game has been in development for so long and we still haven't seen any decent gameplay!!!

yep, unless we see a LOT of game info from GDC next week(which is unlikely), it aint gona happen.
And amazon estimate release date is accurate? since when? -.-
anyway, really want to play this game, sooner the better none the less(just not rushed)

I am a sony guy but this game is one that I may pick up as long as metal gear doesnt come around the same time that it does. I am a big fan of RPG's especially action based RPG's.

it's a big decision for M$ do they either

a) release F2 around the time of MGS4 in the hope of killing some hype for it, with the risk of wasting one of their big bullets or

b) wait it out and launch a flurry of 360 exclusives in the fall in the hope of boosting sales dramatically

personally i would go for B, but thats up to M$

Jrpg to Wrpg, I can't get enough. I played the first fable and stopped playing midway through. Forgot what reason, never went back to it. I think, I'll be looking forward to this one to see what they have improved.

10 - Holiday Release
I thought in all that interviewing that Shane Kim did last week that he said he expected Fable 2 to be a huge holiday hit. I didn't think he was talking about Memorial Day (in the US).

I also suspect that Too Human will hit before Fable 2. I think GDC and E3 are going to be big for MSFT this year. I suspect that they're holding some cards up their sleeves... I think they have changed tunes a bit (as evidenced at last year's E3) and that they only want to talk about games that are coming soon... and by soon, I mean this year.

At 2007 E3, they talked about 2007 releases. Maybe now they're going to open up on what they keep hinting about for 2008. Obviously Gears 2 needs to be in that mix, and Fable 2 as well.

Bottom line: I'd be surprised if Fable 2 ships before September, but I'd be happy if it ships in 2008 at all.

Peter Molyneux said that the game would be releasing, "when the leaves have a slight brownish tinge - but are still on the trees." Doesn't sound like May to me, more like end of September, October, maybe early November.

This game is coming in the Fall, and it's gonna be huge. One thing Microsoft has done well is culitvate their hit titles. The last Fable game did very well despite the misclaims. You also have to understand that Fable 2 has been in development for a while. Peter isn't some hack creator, but he is a talker. So Microsoft keeping him focused can only mean huge dividends for 360 owners and future players. They also have a second game in development. With GTA4 coming Microsoft will give that game room to do it's thing. They also have some secret content, so spacing their games out is also an option. So if we do see Fable release sometime in the summer that would mean they have big guns on the horizon, and they want third parties to eat as well...I like the fact that we are not getting news. Let's the legion on the other side believe they have this year in the bag...It's gonna be real funny and interesting...

It's not going to in Sept. Fable 2 won't be released until Oct. or Nov.
How is May 30th late 2008, like PM has stated?? So really this article makes no sense whatsoever. It's as Boldy29 points out......
