Sega: No plans for Virtua Fighter 5 PS3 patch

Do you think Sega would finally throw us PS3 VF5 owners bone? No and probably not ever, according to Sega's Jay Boor. He told PS3 Fanboy, "at this time SEGA has no plans to release a patch for the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5."

EDIT: It's not about reviews, it's about Sales. I don't think Virutal Fighter sold well enough for Sega to concern itself with it. It didn't exactly top the charts for 360 either.

It's a year old now, and if it isn't crappy, it sure as hell is old.

Metacritic scores don't determine whether a game is good or not; it's all a matter of personal prefrence. Not what a bunch of journos say.

If you want to buy a year old PS3 port, then so be it. But I would rather get some new games this year.

Tekken:DR kills VF5! i traded VF5 in months ago.

Tekken has more characters, backgrounds and game modes + online.

I won't pretend to speak for everyone but everyone i know who owns a ps3 chose tekken dark resurrection over VF. Honestly they can keep the online and there is no love lost. I was never a fan of VF so i really could care less. Tekken and soul calibur are a couple of months away lets see how long they can hold their crown of best fighter available. Only reason they are the best is cus there is nothing to compare them to. I bet DOA is better than VF but i never played it though.

haha also at power of green (my favourite xbot) despite 360 "massive" lead over ps3, ps3 virtua fighter still outsold it... so your saying ps3 VF didnt sell well is stupid... but again thats why you are my favourite xbot.

Why would sega patch the PS3 when VF5 is only hot in Japan and they don't care about online. Why do it for the 20 people that are going to be online everyday? They're working dead rising and lost planet for both the 360 and PS3.

Not really. It only sold about 120,000 copies on the 360. I don't know. Fighters have always been one of my favorite genres, but I've never really liked Virtua Fighter. At least not since Tekken and Soul Blade on the PlayStation.

My personal preference is that Soul Calibur is where it's at. I'm really looking forward to Soul Calibur 4.

soul calibur is by far the master of fighting games but to me virtual fighter is a button masher. tekken is better than vf and i hate that mortal kombat is a rip off of virtual fighter.. the new gen mk sucks Soul calibur is amazing gameplay its not simple like the others thats still out its got way more of a flow. 3 was the best

Virtua Fighter 5 is thee best tactical fighter around. Soul Calibur comes in at a close second. Every other fighter is pretty much a button masher. 360 owners were definitely blessed with the included online version. I love the ongoing online tournaments. The competition is pretty tough and I always thought I was pretty good but I still haven't won one of the top online tournaments. Those damn asians are pretty good!

Oh well, sucks for you ps3 guys. But I guess your used to getting the shaft.

Watched Xplay yesterday and they had a BurnOut Paradise segment and the rep for BOP was so busy marketing the PS3 dude was fucing up his pre scripted speech. Morgan had to cut him off.

I don't know if the devs are worried about sales on PS3 or if Sony has something to do with the odd marketing or maybe even having to live up to the claims they were talking about but I think BOP is slightly over hyped.

He wasn't even going to mention it was a multi platform game untill Morgen stopped him.

Not sure why they wouldn't have a patch for the PS3 since that were the sells were http://vgchartz.com/games/i...

but It doesn't matter I got the game but I just can't get into it as a single player experiance unlike Doa,tekke, or soul caliber any other good fighting game it doesn't have a story mode and on top of that whats the point of these arcade recorded fighters? Sega know they should have had online from the gikko but sega its not what they used to be >_>

I would have bought this game if they did patch it for PS3, because online play or lack thereof was the only reason I don't have it. Guess I won't afterall, Tekken 5:DR satiates me and when SFIV comes out all will be forgotten anyway.

Sony had a stellar Christmas that came close to doubling their install base for the PS3. These new PS3 owners are buying games, even games that came out over the past year. While some of you may have played it already, many have not. Any support that Sony gets benefits them and their customers. Instead of telling another dev to shove it, maybe you should be asking for support so others might benefit.

VF5 is the best 3D fighter to date. The only thing that will come close is Soul Calibur 4. Tekken is good but it has way too much juggling to be respected as a tactical fighter.

sould caliber's fighting engine is for begginers.

Soul Caliber aint even allowed in the EVO tournaments held in Cali.... why because it's more of a button masher.

It was only when it was released for dreamcast was it ever good because they timed each characters attacks according to their hit recovery. People enjoying SC2-3 are plain no brainers.

they get mastered and brought yo true performance with tournaments and unforgetful matches.

The 360 version of this game is the real deal.

Street Fighter 2 turbo is one of the oldest fighters... but still the best. which means it's longevity doesnt wear out.

..but it's still no excuse for Sega not to add online play via patch to the PS3 owners they lied to. They said online wasn't going to happen for either version, but in reality they didn't want to add online to the PS3 version because they wanted it on store shelves during the launch window. Just goes to show you can't always trust what the publishers claim.

How much did it cost to make? Just because a game isn't selling millions does that mean it flopped. It all depends on how much the game cost to make. VF5 sold overall close to 600K, so it doesn't seem too bad. I read somewhere that for next gen systems sales need to be at least 500K to break even or make a profit..

its a pretty smart move by sega if you ask me. they kinda knew this game wouldnt sell like hot cakes so why spend the money to set up servers for a game thats not really gonna sell large anyway. by going with the 360 version with online they dont need to worry about the cost of setting up an maintaining servers because MS handles all of that themselves with XBL. so if you wanna blame anyone blame sony an not sega. did VT 3 have online for the PS3!!NOPE, it did for the 360, what about tony hawk PS,there was online play for the 360, so i guess that activision's fault that tony hawk didnt have online for the PS3 also. you guys dont wanna put the blame on who should have the blame an thats SONY!! they need to help the developers out a little more!! MS has easier to work with dev tools, cheaper dev kits, an better developer support an they incur the cost of running the online, so what incentives do developers really have with dealing with sony!!
