Xbox Live Down Again

After a week of frustration, ending with a law suit. It seemed XBL was back up. But, now new reports are coming in that XBL is down again. The official Xbox.com site reports that:

Users may experience issues performing transactions dependent on Windows Live ID availability including but not limited to Xbox 360 account creation, renewal, recovery, and logging into or creating Windows Live ID accounts. We are aware of the issue and actively working toward a resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Or in simple English, the service is down again.

I have been playing COD4 all day. Went from Level 10 in my forth Prestige to Level 20, so no, Live is not down. I will admit that it's not been flawless and was hard to get a game going for a few min. here or there but still been fine on my side for the most part.

also COD4 has been extremely bad 2night for me and all my friends i was trying to play with so i decided to play another game like gears. so i put in the DVD disc and it required an update.... error came up everytime i tried to update a game... :(

It is down at the moment for me here in California. I can't play COD4 at all. Why are we paying 50 bucks for something that crap? X Box 360 fanboys, it's seriously time to start re-evaluating your devotion to a company that releases a machine that is prone to

1.) hardware failures - Red Rings
2.) laggy online - practically every 360 multi-player game released (like Gears of War)
3.) scratching discs
4.) online that isn't as stable as it should be, considering you are *PAYING for it.

i know the 360 is a good system, but you all have been getting raked over the coals for the better part of a year now. it's time to wake up, and realize that MS doesn't *CARE about you, or giving you the quality service you deserve.

for the record, Sony doesn't care much, either, but at least their console is *RELIABLE. with reliable hardware, reliable online, and it's free.

once systems like Home hit, the community aspect of online gaming will be taken care of, so there won't be much incentive to pay for Live. personally, i think it should be free, like PC and PS3 gaming, but that's just me.

it's not too late to pick up a PS3 to sit next to your 360, so that when stuff like this happens, you can at least *STILL play something.

i don't like Halo. actually, i *LOVED the first Halo (me and the guys at Activision would stay after work until about 6 or so in the morning playing Halo), but i hated part 2 and 3.

Call of Duty 4 (apparently the best one in the series), is also available on the X Box 360.

games like GRAW2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Oblivion, etc are *ALSO available on the PS3, and run perfectly well.

on top of those games, i get quality PS3 exclusive titles like Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Warhawk, Unreal Tournament 3, Ratchet and Clank Future, Folklore, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

as for online. it is free, and also lag free. i never have much of a problem jumping in and playing with my friends online when i get the urge (i'm primarily a single player gamer, and i always will be, though Warhawk is the most fun i've had online since Halo. more fun, actually), so i just don't see any reason to pay *ANY fee, no matter how small, for the few added features that X Box Live offers (i don't care about XMB or custom soundtracks, though i admit they are nice features to have, i suppose).

also, last i checked, the 360 didn't have *THOUSANDS of titles to enjoy that use Live. maybe a few hundred, and out of that few hundred, only a handful are truly worth playing online. sadly, most of them are shooters (my least favorite genre).

i'm an action/adventure and rpg gamer at heart. the 360 doesn't offer much in that regard. i'll get one eventually (mainly for Bioshock, Fable 2, and Alan Wake), but i'm perfectly happy with my PS3, and the mods being released on Unreal Tournament 3 have been keeping me busy lately.

do you have a Playstation 3? am i on your friend's list? because if you did, and if you were, you'd see that i spend most of my gaming time playing Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, and Warhawk. those are *NOT First Person Shooters.

Uncharted is an action/adventure game with 3rd person shooing elements, and Warhawk is a 3rd person shooter with air and ground combat.

FPSes give me headaches when i play them for too long.

i only play Unreal Tournament for upwards of 30 minutes, and i've been playing around with it lately, because the PS3 mod tools have been released, and i've been downloading maps and mutators as they're made available.

No one knows whats going on some may be effected for so many reasons its not smart to even make a rabid comment about it. It could be storms, ISP's or maintance for a fix. I had slow down and errors(can't retrieve data) today and after an hour everything went back to normal and XBL loads and functions better and faster than it has ever done now as of today every time.

A stupid ass Sony fanboys know nothing of whats going on for all we know Sony fanboys are attacking the system. PSN is no where as big or complex as live its rubbish yet its always compared(dedicated servers will have to be an option in the future for MSFT).

Cable outages can be caused by many things believe me I call Comcast about my HD channels once a month at the most wondering why my quality is back and forth and has also caused XBL issues from the ISP end.

Outages can either cause complete failure or it can cause low signal or weak signal strenth that will cause issues when people think everythings fine.

Sure there was a valume issue with XBL from the surge of new 360 owners but to troll forums for bad news is moronic at best theres always going to be issues people file on forums. Could be that their god dam ISP was overwhelmed. Who knows you can troll anti 360 news all day and find complaints and post them as news adding fanboy editing all day.

Hey sonydroids, i've had gold membership since june 06. And only last 2 weeks have i had this problem. Even yesterday while playing cod4 online, i ws getting disconnected or match was ending with connection error etc. But i still love this service which has given us so many good demos,moives, addon etc. You go and play with ur 10 - 15 odd people on psn and leave our issues alone. We'll see when or if psn ever reaches this kind of gaming audience, even with say 7million ps3 owners and with free service you dont even have 1 percent of that online. Thats a shame. speaking for myself I have been trying to sign up since the Dec 27 2007 and all I get is that sign up is unavailable. What is really annoying is that you have to spend a couple of minutes with the process and then you get told that it is not available. So the statement form M$ that live is back up has in my experience never been true. As for customer service; useless. I don't doubt that M$ wants to fix this b/c it is part of their business; but I do not appreciate the lack of information from them or my time being wasted.

It sucks if XBL is down and Microsoft should throw in some free points since it seems to be a problem as of late. BUT I've had the same problem on my PS3 now and then but they never say there's a problem with PSN. (And it's not my internet connection b/c when it happens I always test it.) At least Microsoft is admitting there's an issue. Now just throw in some points and we'll all be happy :)

I purchased it on Dec 16th and for 90% of the time Live for ME has been Crap!

I can techically login but everytime I try to join a game of Halo, I get to wait for 5 mins. It looks like it finds players for the game and then the "Resetting Search" box pops up and starts again.

Unfortunately worse then this is my messenger hasn't worked for the same time so I cant even chat to the 20 people on my friends list to see what they are up to.

"unable to sign into messenger" error each time I log into live.

But on a good note Goldeneye on live could be awesome!!!
