@ shmee 360 still has tons of games and some good exclusives which is why we bought one. Hopefully now that they say they've fixed the hardware issues we'll see it in for the long run worldwide.... Also remember competition is good for us gamers if Sony was running the show we'd still be paying 700+ for a ps2...

But anyways it does make sense. Good for sony. Really the only competition they had was the Wii, and it seems that they are giving Nintendo some competition. They still have some catchup sales wise against Nintendo in total consoles sold, however this could be the start of something.

Yea, the PS3 is certainly doing much better. But the first year is still going to haunt them this gen... only b/c they now have so much ground to make up. But personally I don't think they'll come in last... maybe 2nd at worst. The major thing is that the console is soon to be earning the respect it needs from the dev comunity and we should see better games as a result.

so ps3 sales actually increased from last week that's good to hear. also wii sales increased to....and even the 360 icre......hey they all did increase so lets do a party and all be happy. although famitsu numbers were way of for the second week in a raw. psp sold 14,000 less and ps3 8,000 less. and wii increased by 7,000. well looks like famitsu are ps3 fans aren't they lol.

oh well, as long as sony can keep outselling the 360 in europe by more 30,000 a week and by almost 50 thousand a week for the 360.

even the lead in america that the 360 has isnt beating the ps3 worldwide.

how sad that they also have halo 3 and at a lower price.
once this christmas is up, the 360 sales will fall the hardest because they will no longer be riding on halo 3.

everybody knows the 360 has no real future 2 years down the road, its only a matter of time

Sony n Nintendo own Japan its just like that and Japanese gamers just are not into American style games to much so they dont buy them....its simple thats just how it is..

MS is trying to win over some hearts in Japan but everyone knows they were never gonna be huge there.....Their main goal is to grab more room in NA and Europe....Which NA is tied up for now at least until 08 when its a whole new year and a new ball game...Europe has been slippn but things change so rapidly and we never really know whats gonna happen in half of those little countries over there.....

But in the end another day and another dollar....and in the end the consoles will be a lot closer this gen then the previous and that is all that is needed to start slowing chippn at sony and wearing them down little by little....

If the numbers stay close....next gen would truly be the ones to watch and probably have the most impact

I'm actually surprised how well Xbox is doing at the moment. Only a couple months ago they were in danger of slipping into the hundreds not thousands, sold. I guess everything has picked up for christmas, but the PS3 increase has been huge. Partly I guess to the price drop but I also believe because of DW6 a couple weeks ago. It only goes to show alot of people are just waiting for the right moment to get a PS3. It might be the price, a certain game, a time of year or simply waiting for their ancient PS2 to die and then upgrade. You never know. I'll bet you this but, probably 80 - 90% of gamers in the world WANT a PS3. Just waiting for those right conditions.

I think micro will take 7k, 6k, hell even 5k per week and be happy, (beggers cant be choosers) hell I remember weeks it barely sold 1500, lmfao and if you look back at the original xbox, then its definitely in a better position, but hey its not hard to improve on it their past miserable performance, still it could be worst, and I'll keep saying it, micro doesn't need to win in japan (and obviously they cant) micro only needs japan dev support so that they have legitimacy OUTSIDE japan(diverse lineup of devs). 360 does pretty well in Australia and especially the UK, so that keeps the numbers relatively close outside of the US and of course the US is what gives micro a huge boost, making it overall a great selling console, with a fanbase that buys alot of games its a devs dream because its efficient dev environment and they know great games will sell on the 360=

Just remember. Wii has not had a price drop or color change.. PS3 has had 2 price drops and a new color to spur sales and it only managed to outsell Wii for 3 weeks since they both launched.

The only ting really saving the old school consoles is the fact its attracting a lot of new gamers... So us hardcore are still buying the big toys and if we go back to the ps2 days and compare numbers you'll see we're buying more than ever...

Has far has I'm concerned the Wii is the best thing that could happen to the market and deserve to be in the #1 spot. The only thing that worries me is the possible shift by our devs towards the 'casual' gamers might leave us in the lurch....

A Japanese Console is selling well in Japan... and an American Console is selling well in American... what a shocker... Funny thing about is that If you live in Japan then you are happy your home console is winning and if you are in America (asside from the sellouts that don't support their economy Microsoft xbox 360 haters) then you are also happy. I live in America... So as long as the xbox 360 is doing well in the US I am all good.. and I don't give a *^&%@#$ what people in Japan play... or Europe... That way I will not be force to play metrosexual targetted games... Let's keep it that way... and unlucky for you Xbox 360 and Microsoft haters... as long as the games keep comming to the xbox 360 Americans will buy the console... Sony will have to work hard to earn Americans favor... NOw that microsoft dominated the American Market Microsoft should focused on Less resistant countries... forget Germany and Japan... developers are already forced to support the xbox 360 dude to install base and America representing 60-70% of the game industry...
Microsoft needs to fund or partner with a Japanese company and license the xbox 360 technology... Convince Sega or Square to get into the console business... fund them... and have them release a Japanese designed console, managed by Japan and making games for Japan... that happen to be cross compatible with the xbox 720... Provide them the dev tools and let them create the hardware with a big fat stamp that says Created in Japan... and they will buy it.

Be very convincing with square... $$$... there were talks about square making hardware... Sony without Square would just pooped in japan...
The day square release a console.. that's the day the PS3 dies in Japan.

Anyways these numbers are way off from Fatmusai (SP?) released numbers from a day ago. I recall it had PS3 numbers around 60K+ and Wii around 40K+, plus other numbers are off too.

So my question is who numbers are Correct? Or are both numbers off, and just estimates?

Famitsu numbers are estimates. Media Create has always been the official source for hardware numbers in Japan. Its the company the publishers use.
