Image: First case of Xbox 360 65nm CPU / GPU (Falcon) RROD

It didn't take long, but the first reports of the new 65nm CPU / GPU (code named Falcon) overheating has just surfaced. Seen on the picture is a limited edition Xbox 360 Halo 3 edition. This system incorporates the rumored 65nm chipset.

if I remember correct not every Halo 3 360 is 65nm, only the ones with different heatsink(lot 734 I think, without heatpipe)

[edit]some of the guys in the forum are making the same observation

Mu5afir6051d ago (Edited 6051d ago )

No, from what I understand all of the Halo 3 limited Edition consoles have the 65nm chipset. And some of the Elite / Pro systems have them, you might be confusing the two.

Also the poster confirms that it is a 360 with the Falcon chipset.

ShiftyLookingCow6051d ago

of course I am not sure, but according to xbox forums, I remember some people being glad at first they got the Halo 3 console only to come back and say they have the heatpipe and a different lot #

felman876051d ago

Why would some halo systems have them and not others? The only logical explanation would be if they were manufactured in different locations.

jackfatal6051d ago

how many people in here bought the x360 more than once? so totally how much money u spent on just the console?

ThaGeNeCySt6051d ago

I bought 1 system on launch day, and still works 2day

marinelife96051d ago

Damn you Microsoft! I want to feel confident in knowing I can by your product and not have problems later. I want to play the games I just don't want to have to deal with the headache that comes with them. I guess you can't always get what you want.

stunt2136051d ago

lmao microsoft seriously cant make a hardware without that work smoothly

SlappyMcTaint6047d ago

I can't stop LOLing, this is the funniest sh!t I've read all week!!! Holy sh1t, you xbots thought the 65nm processors were gonna be the glorious end all of the RROD problems!! LOL, gullible lemmings. M$ is giving it to you right up the pooper, and your all drinking the RROD koo-aid.

AznSniper6051d ago

Does that mean we have to wait for 45nm CPUs to come out?

cheatmaster286051d ago

No it means MS doesnt give a flying crap about making a system that works.

hfaze6051d ago

That I primarily do my gaming on my PS3, and have the 360 and Wii for their (good) exclusives only...

Microsoft is taking a beating in the hardware department... This is their first custom hardware architecture, and it is plagued with issues.

Microsoft is going to have to do their homework on their next XBox and make sure things like this don't happen again...

SuperSaiyan46051d ago

The GPU is what is overheating not the CPU, also there is no official confirmation that these even have the new 65nm CPU!! You have to take off the heatsink and try and look at the CPU to know for sure.

ShiftyLookingCow6051d ago

well according xbox forums the ones without heatpipe consume significantly less electricity that seems to confirm 65nm CPU

Pika-pie6051d ago

Jeeez, will MS ever get this s**t sorted. Seriously, I mean come on!

Im going to wait at least another 6 months before thinking about a purchase.

Odion6051d ago

wow this is weak, a picture is not proof, and until we can actually prove that every Halo Console has the chipset A FREAKING PICTURE MEANS NOTHING

Sovannah Phum6051d ago

this picture is worth a lot more to me than your reasoning ability.

Trick Nolte6051d ago (Edited 6051d ago )

This is EXACTLY why MS is able to get away with pumpimg out BS hardware. It never ceases to amaze me how much and how often people who own 360's make RROD some kind if made up conspiracy theory.

If your a 360 fan be a 360 fan. Take the good with the bad but at the same time stop acting like your fellow 360ers arent going through it with their consoles bricking. Its akmost a slap in the face to them because while your over here talking about whats made up, some dudes pissed bcuz his system has failed.

My cousin, who's also my room mate is on his 3rd 360 and his brother is on his 3rd. In all fairness, this dudes core bricked, and it was repaired/or refurb but he also got the elite in addition to having the core.

Seriously though, people are acting brain washed over this RROD and it makes it easier for MS to give their fanbase the loooooooooooooooong shaft because instead of contesting this sh!t, you guys are saying its ok is my systems bricks and even worse you guys wont even acknowledge or believe thats your fellow a-alikes 360's are bricking.

My cousin is a Xbox360 Fanatic but this dude, as well as my other cousin are quick to admit that MS hardware is waaaay to faulty.

If you guys are man enough to brag about how Halo3 owns(It Does) and how many great games there are for 360(there are), be man enough to face the cons. RROD does exist so stop sh!tting on your fellow 360'by failing to acknowledge what they very well go through.

Of course not every 360 has bricked, no one said 100% of all 360's brick but just because it didnt happen to you that doesnt mean it hasnt happen to the next man. It has and i have seen numerous cases with own eyes and have nothing to gain from lying or makin up things as I like ALL 3 console. Peace

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies3h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

CrimsonWing6914h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker14h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo14h ago(Edited 14h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6914h ago(Edited 14h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt2h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos20h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto19h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger8819h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies9h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.
