Heavenly Sword gets 6/10 from Edge, Warhawk & BioShock both get 8/10

Here are the latest scores from Edge magazine for games like Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, BioShock, Stuntman Ignition and Medal Of Honor Airbourne:

Now this is one seriously mixed up and crazy review.

BioShock gets its lowest score and its only below one 9 and the much critisized Warhawk gets the same and 2 points above Heavenly Sword!? Were they on drugs or something? BioShock and Warhawk both getting 8 (While it should be 10 and 8) and Heavenly Sword and Stuntman both getting 6 (while it should be 9 and 6)(IMO).

I have bioshock on my pc and its graphics blow everything else I have played out of the water. 1920x1200 with 16qx AA is just simply out of reach for either of the home consoles. @VirusE: ok so u proved that u did have a go at the mart. So I apologize. As for the graphics on a ps3 and on a PC thats almost 3 times as expensive as a PS3 I dont think we need to tell us which has better graphics. When I made the comparison I was talking about the XBOX 360 version.

My gamertag is DevilsGrave12. If you check my gamercard you will see that i have played only Gears (and a couple of demos) The reason I got a 360 was for GeOW. And I have a preorder for Halo3. I come from India. And the only console we have there is a PS (from the current gen). So naturally I am a big fan. But that doesnt mean I hate the 360 or whatever because then I wouldnt have got it. Second thing I still didnt like Bioshock. But I will play it for sure. And I am not supporting Nasim. I see Nasim as one of the many extreme fanboys like TheMart, POG, FigBoy, and so on and on. Space Giraffe got a 2/10 on OXM and 4.5/10 on team xbox... The game in a futuristic tempest-type arcade game. To give it and Bioshock the same score defies any sane reviewers logic. They aren't even close... If SG is an 8, Bioshock is an 12. Man, these reviews are whacked out.

i think the industry as a whole is having real problems sorting out expectations of next gen games.

bioshock is one of the best game i have played this year. 8/10
warhawk is about as good as shadowrun. 6/10
space giraffe is good but very VERY hardcore only. 6-7/10
heavenly sword has good production but like allot of summer movies is a bit shallow. 6-7/10

I didn't even know they gave GOW2 a 7 before you mentioned it. Once I read that, I knew they have different preferences when it comes to games. I mean GOW2 a 7 and Bioshock 8? It should be higher than that. Maybe MOH is pretty good but to align it along those 2 is pretty weird. At least I'm glad they gave 8 for warhawk, it deserves that. For HS, I'll just go with my theory that they don't prefer this kind of games so they'll always get a low score.

Games with huge production values are considered by reviewers when reviewing average games reviewers reviewing FPS's now or a month ago do try and gadge games like Halo 3 and KillZone 2 so they're not giving average games the same score as high production value games with way more to offer.

Warhawk got what it deserved, it's the most awesome multiplayer game I've played in quite a while.

Some people are thinking about buying a PS3 but don't think there are enough good games to justify the $600 at the moment. So obviously they don't have a PS3 to play or "test drive" the demos.

That means they would have to read the reviews and look at the scores to see if PS3 has enough great exclusives. If PS3 has a bunch of universally acclaimed games that get just 9s and 10s, then they will consider getting a PS3. If big PS3 titles like Heavenly Blade and Lair keep getting average scores, then PS3 will lose their business... at least for the moment.

Edge has great writing and design, go read it at your nearest Borders (they sell them in America too). I want to know what the reviewers say. A lot of times they say things that you wouldn't pick up on just by looking at numbers alone. But I do agree with their Warhawk score, it is the best multiplayer game I've played on the PS3... or any console for that matter (PC fps's trump it, although 4 player split screen online with friends in Warhawk keeps it up there).

Guess what game is considered one of the milestones reviewers will be basing their opinions on in the racing genre?. Yep you guessed it GT5 this can very easily influence many reviewers choice making on scoring. Hundreds of examples. [by your logic} reviewers never look at other games or look ahead to gage what they're reviewing.

Edge does always score very toughly and they have gave some good games some bad scores for some strange reasons; for instance they gave GoW 2 a 7/10 just apparentyl for being "too long." How can a game like that be TOO long? However their writing and design is of an extremely high standard so i will be interested to see what they say.

i think the bioshock and warhaw ratings are correct. i played bioshock, its a nice game, especially at the beginning. but then it becomes only to a go and kill game, very repetitive and everything is scripted, this game has no AI! i cant understand how game mags could give it a 10 ? but i had fun with the game, but it becomes very repetitive. on the other side warhawk is a game with very good gameplay, it becomes not as repetitive, it has good graphics and very large maps. imo i would put it a little above bioshock.
and a 6 for hs, i think its to little for this title. its hack and slash, not my type of game, but i enjoyed the demo, i think it is better than a 6.

im easily pleased and can find pleasure from more games than some of my people do. People who tend to go by what reviewers say TRULY miss out on some GREAT games. With demos we are given a better choice. Take advantage of that fact. The problem with some reviewers is that they play too many games and suffer from reviewing burnout or status quoism. Im sure some of us would like to review games for a living but i used to think working in an arcadia was gunna be kool until i tried it (many many eons ago)

I would not give HL2 a 9. More like a 8.

Its a good game, but none existant a.i even at the hardest settings, Story is good,water fx are nice. Textures are poor.

Its fun. But way way to easy.

I think HS deserve an 8 for sheer graphics, Use of different stances to destroy enemies, i like the level design. Cinematics. And most of all fun.

But lets be honest, most ppl are fps/tps whores, and most ppl who review games are that way as well.

Thats why gears of war,Bioshock, fear, all got 9's 10's etc.

Warhawk is the kinda game i like, Aka BF2 etc. Its fun, while they are objectives, flight,jeeps,tanks. If its in the game, you can use it. for that alone i'd give it a 9. Just like i would BF2.

If this is the UK EDGE magazine it's not out until the 30th which is next thursday so i am not sure how accurate this actually is, however if the scores are correct an 8 for Warhawk is a definite plus but a 6 for Heavenly Sword is a little disappointing both however are day one purchases for me.
I have been playing through Bioshock on my pc and think an 8 by Edge's standards is a fair score, i look forward to reading the actual reviews to see why they have scored them as they have if indeed they are correct scores

You've never even played Warhawk, and trust me it's a blast. Heavenly sword should be higher as well as Bioshock, but it's review nothing more. Only the gamer can decide what's good to him. Never let a review decide your fate.

Rowdy... I've been at the press day of the Leipzig GC and I've played Warhawk and the other PS3 games... Warhawk is fun, but it deserves a 6 to a 7 average reviews.

Warhawk certainly isn't on the level of Bioshock. So Bioshock should be higher then that 8. Heavenly Sword also isn't on the level of Bioshock. So I would state: Bioshock over a 9 (as the average reviews also state), HS about an 8 max., Warhawk 6 to 7, Lair 6 to 7, Haze 7.5 to 8, Uncharted , possible AAA over 9.

Just like Ace Combat 6 online multiplayer will be fun as Warhawks is. But still I know Ace Combat 6 also won't reach AAA and will stick at max. an 8. But that one has a single player included and Warhawk hasn't.

Bioshock has been the best game I have played in years (I include FFXII, God of War, Oblivion, LoZ:TP). The production and development of this game make it a true work of art, and put to shame so many other games available. I wish every hardcore gamer has a chance to experience the world that this game so beautifully immerses you in. For the sake of all the serious gamers who can't afford a 360 and a PS3, I hope that this game gets a good port to the PS3 so that more gamers can appreciate it.

Hopefully the recognition it gets will open the eyes of other game development studios to see how creative, beautiful, and deep a videogame can be.

Someone with more development knowledge may be able to confirm this but I was wondering if the reason Bioshock achieved the extreme levels of production value and artistic design that it did was because they didn't have to waste time developing their own engine to run the game. Does that sound right? It's funny because before this game I was kind of getting sick of the unreal engine (i'm not exactly sure why, it was just all starting to feel too similar to me).

very strange reviews, I would feel a little better if the warhawk and HS reviews were swapped, but this is thier opinion. I am still hesitant on warhawk (I was in the beta and I had a lot of fun, but unless there are some new maps in the works, I might not be in any hurry to pick up the game).

HS on the other hand I had a ton of fun playing, even with the short length of the demo. I just hope that even though its short and sweet that there is atleast some replay value. Even if its just the ability to replay the game in a fish suit :)

You can't compare a FPS to a action game. If they score HS at 6 and BIO at 8 it does not matter. They are not saying HS is not as good as BIO they are just rating BIO as a individual game. Is a sure buy for me. it's not good to see it get a 6 but I heard it has a lot of cutscenes and that's a good thing for me. That means it's telling a story and showing characters.

HS looks to be quite epic and just based on the short comix released on the PSN store i can already tell alot of depth and thought has gone into the plot of this game. And thats what makes for an AAA title, so a 6/10 is just unbelieveable. Agreed, 100% with otherZinc #49. If this mag gave Bioshock an 8/10, they deserve no credibility and are out for attention. This is the game of the decade. It is, IMO, the first truly NEXT GEN feeling game and has made me completely forget about a little game by the name of GEARS OF WAR or anything else I've played on a next-gen system.

I'm done with caring about these "professional" video game critics and the rest of you all should follow suit outside of pre-release reviews. However, as I have posted on several occasions -- and others have as well -- I'm waiting to buy a PS3 once the price hits $400 and there are at least 5 or 6 EXCLUSIVE games I want to play. Lair, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword were on this list. I've taken Lair off; I don't care how pretty it looks; if it doesn't play well then it's a waste. I have liked many games that received poor reviews. But then again I judge just based on fun factor and not so much on graphics. Overall I am glad there are sources like EDGE bc I think their high standards of judging games is good for the industry.

I don't think these reviews will interrupt the sales of any of these three games. People will be able to see with their own eyes what a gem these games are and soon all three will be available in stores.

Personally I don't put a lot of stock in reviews. I know what genre's I like and I know the kind of games in that genre that I like.

Heavenly Sword and Warhawk aren't out yet, but i played Heavenly Sword at E3 in 2006, and i've played the Heavenly Sword demo released on the PSN a few weeks back.

i've thoroughly enjoyed both experiences.

not only that, but after reading the ign UK review of Heavenly Sword, his "true" complaints about the game don't warrant it getting a 7/10. an 8/10, 8.5/10, yes, but 7/10? *DEFINITELY not.

then this Edge magazine, which seems notorious for being harsh when it comes to their reviews, gives HS a 6, and Bioshock an 8. *BOTH titles are off by, at the least, 1.5-2 points.

also taking into account that they rated God of War 2 7/10, when just about every major publication and website gave the title a 9/10 and higher.

as for Warhawk...well, i was *IN the Beta for 7 days, and for those 7 days, i played the hell out of some Warhawk. at the end of those 7 days, i had determined that i would own Warhawk on *DAY ONE, when before, it was relegated to a "maybe i'll rent it," reaction before.

People shouldn't get too upset over these scores because if you read the reviews they kind of make sense.

I do believe that both HS and Bioshock have suffered from overhype and you can sense that it in the reviews because they sometimes seem over critical.

I'll give you a few quotes from the mag, good and bad.(Hope it doesn't flout some publishing laws).

Having read the full articles I can say that if you are a fan of the genres you will not be disapointed. Although Edge can scrutinize things maybe a bit too much, I prefer this to blindly ignoring flaws in any game. It means you won't be too let down when playing them.

Edge did seem to enjoy both games so relax peeps, even though their scoring system is not what people expect.

I do trust Edge, I made the mistake of buying Spiderman3 for PS3 before
seeing their review(they gave a 3). It was pure lazy programming and played it for about 3 hours. I wish i had waited for the review but I'm a bit of a Spidey fan and couldn't wait. I learned my lesson now. We as gamers should not except such bollocks and give these lazy programmers our hard earned cash. If you let them get away with it once they will do it again.

Anyways reviews are opinions and people choose to accept any opinion they wish be it from reviewers or themselves.

I've always had my doubts about this magazine, although this completly confirms them.

6/10 is ridiculous score to give heavenly sword, what the hell were they thinking. I can understand giving warhawk 8/10 since it lacks single player. I can also understand them giving bioshock 8/10 for its lack of multiplayer.

But heavenly sword deserved 8/10, giving it a 6/10 just shows this magazine is attention seeking.

First of all, Lesbian Sword deserves lower than a 6 for obvious reasons. Bioshock is a 10,. period. Bioshock and warhack the same score? NOW THAT'S THE FUNNIEST THING IVE HEARD ALL YEAR! LMAO.
