Agree with FordGTGuy. While they're usually accurate about US sales, they've had a few problems with worldwide reports.

VGC is more of an overall estimate much like Hollywood's weekend sales estimates that come on Sunday and are used until official sales come on Monday/Tuesday.

We still haven't had a price drop in Europe. The only places that did have one were the US, Canada, and Australia.

I don't think worldwide sales would be affected by a price cut in just those regions.

@ TheMART - Ps3 is yet to recieve a price cut over here. I've got a funny feeling that PAL price cut will coinside with the release of the 360 elite over here. A cut to 350 would make it only 20quid more but with a blu-ray player and wifi that is a very tempting deal

Same with me I Don't Care. I have atleast one classmate who'll be definitely buying one at Christmas, another who will get one once he finishes the Junior Cert next summer. Most people in my class will probably be getting it once the Junior Cert ends, with the exception of the few Xbox 360/Wii "fanboys" who hate the PS3(I actually remember one of them saying to me that the PS3 is not of seventh generation technology, yet that the Wii is). You are 100% correct with the way that the Xbox 360 sales on VGcharts have been listed at 10,000,000 ALL YEAR!!! Every month of the year the Xbox 360 had sold about 150,000 systems, on average, which should have easily put it over 11,000,000. In fact, there was a time when VGcharts actually did list the Xbox 360 sales at over 11,000,000. But for some reason, it has been STUCK in the same ballpark of 10,000,000 the WHOLE YEAR!!!

There are actually OVER 11 million Xbox 360 systems that have been sold, and OVER 13 million systems that have been put on worldwide storeshelves, now that the newest batch of HDMI equipped Premium systems have been shipped.

VGcharts needs to get their stuff together in that area for the Xbox 360!!!

It took 9 months for the PS3 to sale almost 5 million PS3 they're only half way to the 360 right now. When you think about it and you get your head out your ass fanboys you'll see how great that is, especially since they don't have that must AAA titles. And 360 took a lot longer to reach 5 million console then the PS3, I think everyone should realize that the gap between the two systems will close off by Q2 next year. So for those 360 fanboys you need to claim down a bit.

most people don't even know about the 5 free blu-ray movie deal, its selling off the price cut and the fact that all these games are coming out real soon.

As for celticlonewolf: the same can be said for the other consoles these sale charts are off and the PS3 should be around over 5 million by the end of this month and i think by the end of this year it should be 6 to 7 million. As for the 360 that should be 13 million and i don't need to say for the WII cause thats going to sell like crazy we all know that.

PS3 has a slow start and it picks up speed starting from 08 (MGS, GT5, FF, Killzone 2 etc) but the 360 sales will get slower as time passes because after the holiday season, there is no reason to get a 360.

Sony has a way to start slow and pick it up so you'll see the PS3 selling like mad in the near future

They will increase in september despite Bioshock and HALO3, they will decrease in October IMO, but will remain good sales.

In november they will increase again all the way up to christmas.. No matter what the 360 brings, the PS3 owners and future buyers are waiting for this year games...

Lair, HS, Uncharted, R&C, Haze and UT3 are more than enough to move consoles in what's left of this year..

What fanboys doesn't understand is that whoever is exited about the PS3 exclusive games, won't be hesitated to buy the PS3 to play them, NO MATTER what the 360 releases.. It's just appeal and interest and it's evident that there's still a lot of people waiting that are going to buy the PS3 just for the first party games.......

I won't even bring 2008 into this post, because it's obvious that 2008 CANNOT be a better year for the PS3...

I agree the numbers on all consoles are in no way perfect thats what I meant I didnt mean just the 360. I have to say though that I think quite a large number of people do know about the free 5 br cause most of the big online retails had it advertised along with some of the larger stores to. Now Im not saying that this is the reason why there was a sales jump what Im saying is you cant deny that it was a definite extra incentive. I know some people who were still on the fence about the ps3(i live where there arnt to many jobs that puy well and 499 is still very high for them)but the extra 5br got them to get the system now.
