Halo 3 will feature 4 player co-op on Xbox Live

During a official press conference in Amsterdam Microsoft and Bungie confirmed that Halo 3 will feature 4 player cooperative play on Xbox Live. More info coming soon.

The good news is that online co-op (Rumored to go MIA) is back.
The bad news is that they followed/also-added Free Radical's Haze 4 player online co-op. (I'm not saying right after they heard about Haze they did it. This type of feature needs much more than 6 months of work,

UPDATE: My comment was mis sjudged. I NEVER meant steal/rip-off. Perhaps copy was not the right word and by "Bad News" I didnt mean bad news for gaming or that Bungie is doing a bad thing, on the contrary, its always good to see a good feature used in another great game, what I meant that was that now Haze has no advantage over Halo 3 (4 player co-op was its biggest boon) and now may sell weaker than before and the fact that a new IP may not sell enough is the bad news. (And no I'm not being a PS3 fanboy, I dont even have a PS3 yet.)

EDIT: I didnt want to flame or offend anyone. 4 player co-op was Haze's big feature. Maybe "copy" was a too strong word. I love both games (Haze and Halo 3) and hope they succeed. Haze almost has no chance against a juggernaut thats Halo 3 but 4 player co-op was its biggest selling feature and now...

Mk it isnt a copy. In the first issue of EGM to showcase halo 2 had an interview with bungie that stated that 4 player co-op was a planned feature. Obviously 4 player co-op has been on there minds for years. Doom also had 4 player co-op and that was in 94.

Did you read the update. I said that by copy, I didn't mean ripoff or steal. To avoid more misunderstandment, I change the copy to follow. Also, I didn't say 4 co-op was the a first for any game. As I said, Bungie is following and they may have had decided to do see a year ago but announce it now.
The bad thing I mentioned was that Haze lost its only advantage to Halo 3 among the mainstream since now they dont have a big feature. Haze has Nectar and other cool features but the genreal and big 4 player co-op for the whole singleplayer is no longer exclusivly availabe for Haze and now another shooter, and a bigger and much more famous one (Halo 3) has the feature and thats to Haze's disadvange to general buyer and that makes me sad. I wanted Haze to sell so good and for some time they could rely on being the only 4 player co-opped game. As I said, its good news that Halo 3 has the feature and but now that Bungie has announced the feature for their game (Again, if I wanted to say otherwise, I could have used steal or rip-off for Bungie but they didnt steal it or anything, they just announced a great feature for Halo 3, hence the word fallow in the update), and now Haze deosnt have a big famous advantage to fight Halo3 fanbase and hype (To a lot of consumers, 4 player co-op is a lot and mostly dont care about Nectar and in-game details) which may lead to mediocre sales for Haze which in my opinion is indeed bad news.

The only thing is, one franchise, has proved itself and has been or will be milked to the last drop and it's not HAZE. didn't Haze developers criticize the Halo franchise? Halo 3 turns out to be a really good game, because Halo 2 was a major dissapointment. YES, I HAD the xbox, i had Halo 1 and 2 and just never got into it. Halo 2 was nothing special.
But hopefully, Bungie has done a really good job for halo 3.
But I will rent Haze and see if it worth buying.
Killzone on the other hand will by far exceed all FPS to date, and set the bar for a FPS.

Though I must admit, I was initially disappointed with Halo 2, for about 20 minutes. It was the starting aboard the ship with all the industrial design and corridors that deterred me initially. But as soon as I was through the first level the game really drew me in and was great all the way from then on.

I for one can say I have played both Killzone and Halo 1 & 2.
And I like Halo better. But Killzone had one truly great thing. And that was the reloading for the weapons which I thought was some of the best in a game I ever seen. I even thought climbing a ladder in the game. Was done fairly well, an improvement on most games in that aspect.

But too say Killzone 2 will surpass all FPS too date is clearly a exaggeration. The graphics are great but that alone doesn't make a better game.

If a FPS game is gonna surpass the others or put a twist on FPS games it will be Bioshock not Killzone 2, which still retains basic FPS game play.

And you say Killzone 2 will set the bars for FPS games. I disagree
if their was one console FPS game that set the bars, taking into all aspects of a FPS game offline and online it would be Halo.

Not long ago someone from bungie said in an interview that there ale technical issues concerning co-op play in halo 3, and that they would love to have it but there's a problem with it and that they weren't sure how to implement the co-op. I wonder if it turns out to be rushed and low quality. MS probably acknowledged the fact that haze and/or UT3 are very likely to OWN halo3 (in terms of game experience).

i'm thinking about the interview where the bungie person said the issue is that cooperating players can be 2 miles away from each other. Is it really a month old?
Well it's not that important because bungie could've been saying what ever they wanted and then surprize us that they've already working on it for a long time and it's almost there.
One thing that worries me is that as haze was created form the ground up for 2-4 player co-op, this co-op in halo3 seems to be attached in the end as a response to the current market situation.

Also lets not forget the new weapons and the video feature plus the next gen graphics and the fact that there was a beta meaning minimal lag. O my god this game is going to be amazing.

Excellent news. Its funny to me because I knew it would be 4 player co op over a year ago. Who was actually fooled that it wouldn't? lol....WOW. Is that a xbox 1 or 360 that is freezing. From the sounds of it, its a xbox 1. Must be a Thompson (cheap as drive). You can buy a Phillips OEM xbox drive from ebay and problem will go away. My sons came with Phillips and never have issues. Even reads disc that are badly scratch. MY POS Thompson drive would crap out every other hour. I bought a Phillips one and walla never had a problem.

All I can say is dammmmm FINALLY. I was looking for that in Halo2 and then the rumors started that it wont be on HALO3 and overall I was kinda sad, but now I am happy. Not cause the game wont be fun, I know it will, but know I can share those great campaign moments with my brothers who are now in college and in different places of town now.
Experiences of games are becoming not just about graphics, but what can the games offer as far as features. And 4 player coop and this video feature upload thing might be a hit. Expecially when you know you have a title that will sell easily over 5 million. Most titles would hope would to sell over 500k, Halo alone (like GTA) sells millions on day 1. Great News to any one who knows how fun it will be to play a campaign with not just 2 but 4 others.

I don't know why you are comparing Killzone 2 to Halo 3. Nothing is known about Killzone 2 at the moment. At this moment in time Killzone 2 is looking very generic. But hey at least it has the cover system from Far Cry ;)

Killzone 2 is one to watch though.

I have a PS3 and a 360 by the way. Along with looking forward to Halo 3 I can't wait for Heavenly Sword.

HOWEVER, 4 player co-op is a stroke of genius by Bungie, it really turns this game into something different and special on the 360, and I have now pre-ordered it.

How the hell did Bungie copy anyone lol This was something expected to be in the Halo series since Halo 2. They had it implented in Halo 2 actually but do to the limitations they took it out later in development. They added it back in to Halo 3 with 2 more playable characters. They are enhancing the experience. I don't see how that feature can be copied. Halo 3 also has the meta game which I'm sure others do not.
