Hydrophobia size under 1GB; will come to PS3

In a recent podcast interview, the leads of Dark Energy Digital revealed their upcoming XBLA title Hydrophobia will hit with a file size under 1 GB and confirm that the game will not be an Xbox exclusive.

Interview starts at about 37:00 and details of the Xbox/PS3 distribution start at about 55:00 into the show.

I remember reading about this game a couple years ago, and seeing it being listed for both systems. Then it completely disappeared off the radar, and suddenly reappeared as a seemingly 360-exclusive title. I even remember the developers saying they were leaning towards 360 development because their PS3 tools weren't ready at the time or something. It's all really vague because the information isn't exactly fresh in my mind anymore, sorry...

Anyway, it's nice to see this game coming back around again. The concept is certainly interesting enough -- and the form factor (downloadable, only around 1GB) is also enticing. If it's priced right (10 bucks or less, unless it has more than 5 hours of gameplay), I might pick it up.

Here's hoping there's a demo.

NOBODY on the development team from Epic has ever said Gears is coming to PS3, no one from Remedy has said Alan Wake is coming to PS3, and for sure Gabe Newel has never said any of his games are coming to PS3.

If you've heard rumors from other sources, that's one thing, but to say the development teams themselves have said, that's just innacurate.

Wipeout HD is a perfect example of this. The PSN is quite a versatile distribution platform, and I still think that a lot of people don't recognize this fact.

Also, I think it's quite strange and ironic that you're not interested in DLC because you know, DLC / Digital Distribution > Blu Ray, right?. I think it's simply because this game is no longer a 360 exclusive -- which really, it never was in the first place.

Sony has prooven that downloadable titles are not to be taken serious. I bought Flower and .detuned, and I only play them when I am drunk. If I am to buy anything from the PSN store, it has to be either Demos, Comics, PSP games, DLC, or a PSX classic.
I don't even have a 360, bro.

I just bought "Operation: Anchorage" Fallout 3 DLC for PS3 after finally finishing Broken Steel.

But you are in the minority with Flower. It was a great game, and just because you selected two choices -- one of which was a demoscene release, and was consequently misunderstood and rated poorly as such -- doesn't negate the fact that Sony has done some excellent work providing a unique and varied catalog of downloadable games. How could you forget about Pixeljunk monsters, Wipeout HD, Crash Commando, Savage Moon, Gran Turismo HD and 5: Prologue, Ratchet & Clank: A Quest for Booty? The list goes on. Hell, the Pixel Junk offerings alone make it worth the look.

About my opinion on flower, Im only a minority on the internet. Not a single friend of mine liked flower.

Savage Moon was just another tower defense game, I played the demo.

Wipeout HD was less than a gigabyte too, it just happened to be 1080p at 60fps. But the game coming to PSN is good news, if they have a demo ill try that out first.
