What a 9 Gig dvd can have over 20hrs gameplay while a blue ray over 30 Gig game (God of War 3) has only 9 hours with recycled enemies, moves ect. What a shame XD

God of War 3 is a sequel. You are bound to say regurgitated characters and NPCs pop up. That doesn't mean it's "recycled", and the graphical engine is different if I'm not mistaken. You can criticize GoW2 for recycled characters but not GoW3 I'd think.

DVD9's inferiority is vastly over-exaggerated by some PS3 fanboys but it's certainly not the best use of space either, especially with this growing industry. Most games still manage to fit on DVD9s just because most games don't end up getting too big, so I really see no huge problem with it. Games don't have to be as big as God of War 3 or have the graphical capabilities of Killzone 2 to be considered a good game.

I'd get Alan Wake simply because it's longer which means more bang for your buck, and because it interests me more. I'll have to ultimately rely on the scores or the demo. Here's to hoping it's as great as it's made out to be.

Splinter Cell is 6-8hrs just SP, and it has Co-op and MP. Alan Wake is just SP so 20hrs don't seem too far fetched. Helps to use a bit of logic.

Loook, I am going to buy this game as soon as I can. I ain't no fanboy from the ps3 side. Howeever, there is no way in hell this game is going to be 20-30 hours. Every developer drastically exagerates the time it takes to complete but about twice what it actually is. This happens so often it is practically the norm.

And don't forget, since you mentioned some bad DVD space usage, that MS doesn't allow the full space to be used on DVD's. I think I read that the dev's only have about 6.8 or 6.9 GB of space that is usable on a dvd, while the rest is used up by whatever the 360 needs to get it to run (not exactly sure about those numbers though).

But yeah, if this game is even 20 hours, and is fun, I will probably pick it up. It's been a while since I had fun with a long single player campaign. This type of length is a reason people can overlook graphical letdowns, but hopefully this game is ok in that department as well, after all is said and done.

It's probable. Oblivion fit on a disc and it's more than 20 hours long. Granted it's an rpg, but it's possible AW uses the same textures repeatedly for its level designs. I mean, most of it is forest and dirt. Not much variation when it comes to texture design for forest and dirt, especially the trees. How many pine tree forests out there do you know that also has maple, birch, and oak?

Anyway I think AW it is for me. I love my Tom Clancy games and books, but I've played MP1+2, and with Remedy you can't go wrong.

All devs over-estimate their game length, I doubt it will be anywhere close to 30hrs, probably 10-12hrs, which will be great as long as its an amazing 12hrs.

I hope it's true. It took me about 20-25 hours to finish RE4 on NGC back in 05. Since Alan Wake doesnt offer any Multiplayer anad co-op they probably made a longer lasting story mode.

UC2 single player... MP just hasnt gripped me like those ridiculously cinematic moments you can only get in SP. I really wish they would release a DLC campaign extension :D

Well, games are almost always 65-75% the length that game devs say (or they just suck at playing their own game, or they're spending too much time looking at bugs and admiring their own work)

So my guess is that AW will be about 15-16 hours. That's a perfect length for this game.
I don't think anyone can stand 30 hours of cheap scares.

I really doubt a game like Alan Wake would even be 15 hours long. It's just not beneficial for a linear survival horror game IMO.

It would get stale and boring after a while and even more when the game is a bit slow and pacific in a way with hardly any action, etc.

Anyway, 8 to 12 hours long is quite enough for a single player linear game like Alan Wake.

Two Alan Wake was confirmed to be a mix of 540 and 720p, witch most likely means that the cgi cutscenes will be in 720, and the actual game play will be in 540. That is the only way I can see to mix them up like that, but that is what was said.

i like both Uncharteds, because their game length felt perfect; about 10+ hours.

to me, it never felt like the game was dragging on, or stretching things out. the pacing was spot on.

i can't wait to get Alan Wake and experience it for myself.

in the end, the game length doesn't matter as long as the experience is quality.

i'm always up for a good story in a game, and i've had my fair share of them so far this generation, so i'm really pumped about AW.

Impressive. I still give the graphics crown to Uncharted 2 even tho it's kind of cartoony. Killzone 2 and Heavy Rain aren't as great as the sony fanboys claim. Alan Wake definitely surpasses both those games but at least equals Uncharted 2. But it looks like Alan Wake will have twice more gameplay than Uncharted 2.

The newest glowing review for Alan Wake places the real-time no bullshyt completion play time at 10-12 hours solid. And there is NOTHING wrong with that. I expect some backtracking, but if done correctly it can solidify the storyline. People need to 1) stop hating and 2) stop overhyping this game. This game seems to be able to stand on its own 2 legs if people will let it. There is no need for the lies and misinformation and BS overhype... just enjoy the damn game.
