So now you have a PC as well? You PS3 fanboys don't know the first thing about logic or reasoning. Crab gave you perfect reasons to pick 360 over PS2. Other than a few games on PS3 the rest are all on 360 and normally perform better. You've got some powerful 360 exclusives you will obviously never enjoy on the way this year. Even if PS3 doesn't have as many games that go to PC the 360 also has games that don't. The real difference here is 360 has exclusives, multi plats (with PS3 or Wii) and exclusives for 360/PC only. PS3 only has exclusives and multiplats only. When you throw all this in with indie games and XBLA you can easily see who's got the games.

Just last September, analysts @ Caris and Co commented that Microsoft was losing money on every 360 sold at the current price points and MS Entertainment was struggling to turn a profit without slashing it's employees and marketing spending. Last time I checked, Microsoft wasn't running a charity of gamers. I wonder what they're thinking? Is it just a matter of throw these out the door and hope that they make that money back in XBL subscription fees and software revenue? They're still billions in the hole since the 360 launched (not that the PS3 is doing any better). Obviously this strategy isn't panning out for them. From a consumer standpoint, if true, then this is definitely a changer, and will definitely boost sales. If Microsoft can afford it, than by all means, I welcome this.

However, from a business standpoint, this doesn't sound very practical or smart. Unless manufacturing costs of the Arcade 360 are borderline next to nothing, this guarantees you will either be losing money or at best, breaking even, and even for Microsoft, that cannot be viewed as a good thing, and I'm sure the components cannot be decreasing in price that quickly.

Plus, Microsoft is doing this at a far accelerated rate. It took 9 yrs for the PS2 to reach this point. It does not sound very practical, even for a corporation the size of Microsoft.

The only sound reason to do this is that Microsoft is truly getting panicked about the competition, and feels that this is needed to stay relevant, as that is what is currently happening. That how it appears to me.

Overall, as a consumer, I like this. However, from an economic standpoint, it reeks of desperation and doesn't seem very smart.

This is an awesome deal if true. I have always wondered why MS did not bundle Rare games with the 360. This way MS can get people to like Banjo and Viva Pinata so then Rare can work on a sequel to Banjo Kazooie. I would like to see Banjo Threeie. I have both consoles I used to be a bit of an Xbox 360 fanboy but that was like a couple of years ago but since then have grown up as it is just not worth coming on here and hating on a 'GAMES CONSOLE' seems pathetic.

Also noticed some now going around saying that the technology inside the Xbox 360 is ancient, actually its not as far as the GPU and CPU go the only thing that is falling behind is the DVD format but that hasn't stopped developers supporting the Xbox 360.

In fact this gen we have seen many more developers create games for the Xbox 360 even titles that were only exclusive to the PS2, this gen has been great for both PS3 and Xbox 360 and am sure as time goes on we will continue to see better games in graphics and gameplay.

They don't need to counter, 100 dollars for the arcade still means you need to buy a hard drive, a wifi adaptor(if you need one). I'm pretty sure you still need to buy a plug and play adaptor for controllers that is at least another 220 dollars, making it 320 dollars. Sony is selling PS3's by the boat load, and in places like Japan the 360 barely sales at all.

Well if this is true, I'm pretty sure that it's either because the slim 360 is coming and they want to get rid of the arcade systems, or it is GameStop just wanting to get rid of their old systems, or refurbished ones.

Even if it is refurbished, and everything is used, that is still a heck of a deal.

You're very,very stupid. Look how long it actually took for PS3 to a GOOD exclusive that also sold quite well, I have a PS3 and the best game took like what 4 years to come out? Look back at the last 4 years 360 has more and better Exclusives then PS3 maybe not in people's opinion wise but SELLING wise, it's a fact.

And look at the good games coming out there at spin-offs, or a part 2 or 3 +, example:

God of War III ( Duh, it's gonna sell good people been waiting ages for it )
GT5 ( again, it's another sequel or w/e you wanna call it )
FFXIII Versus ( Knowing SE, it's even possible they can throw this on 360, they want there money and they would get it that way )

Now, PS3 basically has TWO games that are actually "New" MAG and Heavy Rain.

You asked how Sony can compete with that? Price wise, it probably cannot. However, features, games, etc; it can very much compete on that level. And in that regard, probably win, just not with a 99 dollar pricetag. UNLESS, of course, sony came out with a console designed like the arcade.

My honest opinion is if the xbox became 99 dollars I would probably buy it to play Alan Wake and maybe another game or two. I'm serious.

But just because I would buy the xbox doesn't mean the PS3 isn't my console of choice. PS3 is my console of choice and will continue to be for a lot of people who just plain want a PS3. If you haven't bought a nextgen console yet, and the ONLY (for whatever reasons) console you want is a PS3, then you're gonna buy that PS3. The xbox having an even smaller pricetag isn't gonna stop you in your tracks and repogram your mind.

Anyway. I'm just not really a fanboy. My opinion: I'd buy a 99 dollar xbox for seconday use. Primary is my PS3.

Believe it or not, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is pretty damn entertaining. It sucks that it's not reminiscent of the original, but trust me, that doesn't make it a bad game. If anyone's to buy a 360, go out and get a bundle like this.

Xbots were proclaiming how the launch of the slim was a desperate move, well by the looks of it the were wrong! Because A. Sony released the PS2 slim in the winter of 2004 3 years after tit came in WORLDWIDE and the PS3 slim was released 3 years almost to date as well.B. if you really don't think this is an act of desperateness then you maybe just stupid or stubborn or what ever else you want to call it.
O, and why would they be launching a new console next year when they're launching Natal this year!?
