Mass Effect for August becomes doubtful

The biggest UK games retailer GAME have updated their listing for Mass Effect and have changed it to January 2008. They sent an email round to all those who have the game on pre-order letting everyone know the changes to the game that was expected in two months time. Are they out of their minds, or closer to the truth than we may think?

all those 360diots to shut their mouth when a game gets pushed back for the PS3, apparently the wonder box has more than it's share of development hurdles too.

First off...nothing has been confirmed. So I take this news with a grain of salt. And as for push back of a title...its not a rare thing to happen. The PS3 has seen more than its fair share of push backs which has many wondering..is it really difficult or is it due to the lower install base those titles (for now) have been taking the back seat in terms of development resources. I personally am thinking the later is the biggest culprit of delays these days for the PS3.

Or maybe it's a huge game that's poised to be an AAA title, and they want it to be perfect for release. One of the things that developers love most about the 360 is that it is very similar to a PC and easy to develop for.

For God's sake, just give us (UK) the U.S. version - we speak the same language! I don't want to wait 2 months extra just because I'm from the same continent as some Frenchies who need the game translating for them!
Also, I hate the way the UK is tagged onto the EU. We're not even in the bloody European Union for gods sake!

I would not take game release schedules on the game website as gospel.

But I am somewhat dissapointed that if true, we won't get to play it until next year.

But this is not a big a deal. Just look at the rest of the year 2007. Darkness, Bio Shock excl., Halo 3, Rain, GTA4, Strangle Hold, Assasion creed, and on and on.

1) The developers never announced a date. It's hard to push back a title that doesn't have an expected date.
2) This is one retailer. Whoopie.

Didn't Bill Gates clearly state Halo 3 would ship along side the PS3, that was funny when he stated that but still...don't even bring the PS3 into the picture, ALL GAMES get delays, even Half-Life 2

And what was more fun in the way of Halo was that Bungie only ever announced the date for Halo 2 when they announced the final November date- they'd never specified a single date before that.

Retailers, though, started making up dates as early as March 2003, and kept saying the game was "pushed back" ever since. In fact, there were days when Microsoft stock took a hit because Halo 2's date had been "pushed back" and the news made CNN. Meanshwhile, the whole way, Bungie just kept saying they hadn't announced a date, and nobody really cared.

Of course here are a lot of other games not listed in your list either but I think AC will be an AAA title.

As for Mass Effect. I suppose I can’t say I am surprised we haven’t seen a lot about it recently. I wonder if the delay till 2008 is just for Europe or for US\Japan\Australian release too, though.

who says it's prefered for this game to get delayed. It's bad enough when alot of good games come to a SINGLE system. But when you have to by for MULTIPLE systems. GAW!!! MONEY IS GONE IN SECONDS!! First I gotta plan my months: "August get this game", "September better get that game", "October I gotta get so-and-so". AND THEN I gotta decide which game to get on which console for multi-plats , "I have to get THIS game for the PS3", OR "THIS version is best on the 360", or "I have to get 2 versions (collector & legendary edition) for 1 game".....Man, I'm telling ya'll bros, our hobby is NOT cheap.

P.S. I hope this game doesn't come in a collectors/limited edition. I'm a sucker when it comes to those. Already have Halo3: L.E. and GTA4: C.E. pre-orderd. And I plan on getting Bioshock: CE. I can't take another hit. :P

NGS was supposed to be released today but it got delayed to next week (7-3-07) i dont know why but it did.

this is one of the games that was slowly pushing me to add a 360 to my collection to make nice-nice with my PS3.

while i'm not too upset that it may get delayed (lord knows there's plenty of games coming out this fall to warrant my attention), it's still disappointing.
