VG247: When Microsoft announced at X10 that there would not be a PC version of Alan Wake, it was explained away that the game was best suited for a larger screen – like a television.
According to Oskari Häkkinen, head of franchise at Remedy, playing the game on the telly is more of a preference than anything, as the company has a long history with developing games for PC.
Speaking with VG247 in London this week, Häkkinen told us that the decision to axe the PC version was more about focusing on one platform at a time than anything else.
Alan Wake, from Max Payne and Control creator Remedy, is a horror classic, prompting one player to buy 4,000 copies that don’t even work.
Kind of a goody story...
On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.
Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.
Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.
Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.
Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄
So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.
I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.
Alan Wake 2 continues the writer's story, 13 years later.
Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
I've been excited about Alan Wake from day one, I was just afraid that it wasn't going to see the light of day for awhile there. Everything I've seen now from the screenshots to the trailers just seem to reaffirm to me that this one is going to be worth the wait.
Still too bad no PC version. I know plenty of people who have big monitors and surround sound on their PC's. Couldn't they let the consumer decide if they wanted to play it on their PC's or their home theaters rather than taking that choice away?
"it was explained away that the game was best suited for a larger screen – like a television."
weak
As long as any great games is on the PS3 or the 360 I'm good. I know I miss out on some good PC games but I am just not prepared to invest the money into PC gaming that it would take to have a top of the line gaming computer.
It sucks for PC Gamers that there version has been canned, however, the most important thing is that the Game gets released! Remedy are a small studio (theres only 50 of them!!) and because of this you cant take forever to make a Game without costs escalating out of control.
Sucks for PC Gamers, but at least Remedy get to make their Game an we get to play it. THAT is the most important aspect in all of this.
So they're saying they just can't handle two platforms. That's pretty weak.
I was going to buy this for pc, but now I'll just rent it on the xbox. Shame too. This would have looked great with the power of a pc behind it.
