Xbox 360 owners reporting blank video output issue

At least one user reports seeing the red aspect of the color signal failing to come through, with the image then failing completely. It sounds like most users with the problem are encountering this after a fair degree of time with the console, after no previous problems.

On a side note, Maybe it is a problem with the Cables. Don't tell me I didn't read the article because I didn't. To anyone who has this problem, let me also warn you that placing a 360 on or in the proximity of a grill/stove/fireplace MAY cause overheating issues. Another reason not to buy the 360! Also, my 360 did not function correctly from the bottom of my fish tank! This is the biggest piece of junk ever! Did you know Xbox 360 can not operate without an incoming power source? Also, refrain yourself from brining the system to the beach as sand can enter and cause possible problems. I am on my 1st xbox 360 since launch, but assuming mine will break, that will prove that 100% of Xbox 360's break.

except the screen will just start going blurry and a line will keep going across that messes up the screen. i checked and rechecked the video cable and everything is plugged in right. and when i use my PS3, the screen is fine

Sorry but it became a problem the day the 360 launched! And whats any different today? The 360 is nearing 2 yrs of age, and it has the same issues it did on release day. Admit the console is both designed & constructed terribly, you can lie all you want to others, but are you going to lie to yourself? Wake Up xbots!

It says "at least one". That means all 360s out there have this issue. I used to think I sucked at PGR3. Now I know that the real reason for my score is that the game never ran in the first place!

Seriously folks. If all Xbox 360s worked as poorly as every youtube video out there, they wouldn't be selling at all. The main point is that there are a hell of a lot more people out there who have no problems whatsoever with their 360 than the few mewlers out there that seem to be having issues. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad that their systems are breaking down but that doesn't mean that this is happening to the majority of the people.

that sucks. i was really considering getting one but i dont want to spend that money for something that keeps having issues. the games are great but not when you cant play them. i might get one and just keep returning it every year or so just to be safe.

Try switching it from HDTV to TV on the component cable plugin to the 360, or vise versa.

I think their talking about me. My 360 has been fine since day one with short bursts of gaming and then suddenly after playing an extended period of Forza 2 the system started getting weird graphics ( http://www.flickr.com/photo... ) and then finally no video at all. Everything starts fine according to my vision camera. I can even see the moment that I'm logged into Xbox Live by the vision camera light going off momentarily yet no video shows up and not a single red light since the day i got it.

Here I have one for you Freaking Fony Fanboys!

I know two people that have played/own a PS3. One is a reviewer that owns it (got it for free) and he just never turns it on, only for reviews. For pure gaming, he only uses his 360.

Then there is one guy that doesn't own it, but has it @ work. That one got so hot he could really use it as a grill. Died in 2 days.

Another one bites the dust! Same story as this, so it's also legit.

Same sh!t that happened with Guitar Hero 2. One person with a problem starts a thread and says "my 360 bricked while I played GH2". In 5 minutes 100 more fake whiners join in just for the fun of bashing 360. When RedOctane said there is no such issue happening. Whining stopped and the issue became a myth.

This happens all the time when ONE person has problem and says it out loud. 360 haters see it always as an option to bash. Lame kids.

This may sound wierd but I could not get 480p on my 360 using componet cables or VGA; I tested my Brothers 360 with the same cablea and it worked fine; I fixed the problem by blowing the dust out of the display connection at the back of the 360 and then it worked fine. Give it a try, maybe there is a dead fly in there or somthing.

No one said the PS3 was perfect, this is about the 360 and I know of 3 Gamestops and 2 Best-Buys in my area their PS3's run fine and only one 360 still working other 2 have out of order signs. This is about gamers not console wars I wish the 360 was better built but its not, we the gamers suffer from poorly built hardware and bad games the XBOX 360 is a poorly designed and built product facts are facts, the WII and PS3 are built with higher grade eletronics and workmanship..
