The 1st half is all CG cut-scene. The second half is gameplay but it is impossible to tell if it looks any different from what we have seen already with this small low-res video. Once Gametrailers gets the HD version up we should be able to see if any improvements were made.

Remedy is an awesome developer and this is one 360 game that has my interest.

I would have to say that Alan Wake is behind Halo Reach for two games I dream of coming to the PS3.

The Last Guardian and Bad Company 2 will satisfy my MP and SP dreams this year though, I am banking on The Last Guardian to win GOTY for myself personally.

how you guys start talking about the graphics when it looks to have lower textures than dark sector... the animations are really good, and the atmosphere is top notch, but its really pathetic to see the futile attempts of hyping this title for its graphics, Gears2 surpacess this in every way graphically, i know the sony friends have been pounding you down with the whole graphics thing but to get behind this game as your graphics king makes me chuckle. Probably going to turn a few ppl off here but the entire opening was CG

at about 48 seconds in and on it's all gameplay.

however, the intro was probably using the game engine itself, it looks like it was pre rendered and some slight filters to help enhance the image. When they compile those into CG they can add AA etc.

Looks great though, can't wait for more information. I'm just glad I have both consoles this year, geez some of these ppl are funny sometimes XD it's no question that microsoft has upped the quality of visuals lately.

It is absolutely not CGI. I guarantee you it isn't. There are far too many telltale signs that reveal it is actually completely in-engine. For example, look at the car door at around 0:23, you can clearly see the angles of the polygons that make up the door and the side mirror.

It looks almost like high quality CGI pre-rendered graphics, but that is just a testament to how good the game looks.

I was actually going to say it looked like either low quality CGI or how the game actually looks. Either way, I never said it wasn't the engine I just said it was probably used with a few minor filters as they'd ideally wanna polish it up for marketing purposes.

Still looks great and i respect the fact that you didnt jump right away to OMGFANBOYALERT like everyone else. I could very well be wrong it was just my observation.

Whether the game looks this amazing or not, it can't be far off, anything close to this level is fine by me.. hell I'm enjoying my FF8 runthrough again on PSN and the screen is stretched across a 42" LOL.

My point is, the game looks different, its not the Unreal engine and the concept of using the light is pretty intriguing. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

mmm.... I'm starting to think that Alan Wake is the Uncharted game that 360 owners never got to play. The graphics seems amazing, the gameplay well nothing much to say for now,but seems pretty awesome to me and the story is supposed to be very good. It's all speculation, but we've been surprise at how good uncharted 1 and 2 was (graphics, gameplay and story wise), so I think we can specs the same for Alan Wake.

That's the kind of game the 360 desperately needed to prove that the 360 is still in the graphic war VS PS3.

But the amount of time to design a so good graphic game on 360 was kinda long. It was announced at E3 2005 so development was pretty long. But now the engine is completed so probably an Alan Wake 2 wouldn't be a problem, just boost up the engine a little more and your done.

Since I now finally have a 360, I will be able to play this great upcoming title. So PS3 owners, try to be positive of this and go to one of your friends house to play this game instead of bashing it already. 360 owners were probably pissed off after seeing how uncharted 2 was good, so now's their time to shine.

The only thing negative that I have to say about Alan Wake is that the game play still seems very basic to me. The game is coming out in a couple of months so I am not sure if they are keeping certain game play elements under-raps or is the shine light and shoot it?

Alan Wake will probably be a good game because Remedy has a strong pedigree coming from the Max Payne franchise.

This may be a good reason to pick up a 360 since the PC version was put on hold but I would like to see more to know for sure.

My fellow Sony gamers, can you feel the irony floating in the air right now? Alan Wake, a quasi-high quality game exclusive only to the 360, promises the 360 dumb kids "high-quality gameplay and psychological triller" not seen anywhere else. The irony after watching the trailer, my fellow Sony gamers, is that Alan Wake is nothing more but an unoriginal rip-off of Heavy Rain, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil 5.

Look at the trailer closely...the atmosphere is a piss-poor copy of Heavy Rain and Silent Hill, while the gameplay mechanics is surely going to be a cheap imitation of Resident Evil 5. It's quite funny how the 360 dumb kids would label high-quality Sony games like Uncharted 2 as a rip-off, when in fact their Alan Wake is nothing more than a low-budget copy of other games.

Alas, since the 360 fanboys have a very low IQ capacity, they wouldn't be able to know that Alan Wake is unoriginal. After all, what would you really expect from a bunch of dumb kids who think that "Power Ranger wannabe" games (another rip-off) are the best games ever?

Many of the textures are low resolution and while it has huge boss battles people seem to forget how huge some of the boss battles were on the PS2. However, these are not the best graphics I ever seen. While they look really nice, I've seen better than this with: Heavy Rain demo, MGS4, Uncharted 2 etc all have better looking graphics than what I've seen so far. If any of you have seen the trailer for Heavy Rain that is within the demo, you'll see one really tense scene that is tenser than what I've seen on this trailer so far.

To repeat, I will buy this game but it looks like some people are just blindly calling it the best game / best graphics in the world! Gears of War 1, Forza 3, Gran Turismo 1-5, Uncharted 1 & 2, MGS1 & MGS4 are amongst my top ten games. Maybe Alan Wake will join my all time top ten but I'll have to play it to make that call. im on the edge with this.. of course the cutscenes looked good, but the graphics did drop abit when it went to gameplay, and as detailed as the characters looked.. there movements and animations/talking all seemed very stiff! like theyve thrown the dogether with 10k polygons and just but a pretty picture over them..

For as long as this game has been in development it better worth the wait for those who want it and not some Silent Hill rip off. Well everything is ripped/borrowed from these days so that comment does hold much weight but you know what I mean.

That CGI is not even as good as the game play on some PS3 games. A game about a guy with a flashlight. You can not be serious.

Well watched the video and i wasnt blown away at all. Halo has way more spunk. I really want a good reason to use my xbox again.

I say the same thing about Heavy Rain and my PS3 I guess I won't turn it on again until GOW3 comes out, I ca't until this game comes out
