Metro 2033 Trailer #3

THQ and 4A have released a new trailer from post-apcocalyptic shooter Metro 2033.

Trailer #3 shows off the game world, above ground and below, and features combat with a winged beastie.

The post-apocalyptic theme is over used just like every other FPS theme is over used. There just aren't that many places that you can have a game where you can walk around with a gun shooting at will: War and Survival (which includes some scenario of why you need to shoot to survive, ie post-apocalyptic). I think there needs to be some innovation on themes - but I don't doubt that it's a pretty tall task!

Not even sure STALKER comparisons are a plus point. Both STALKER games (i haven't played the third, call of Pripyat) have had some major gameplay annoyances and pretty terrible stories.

At the end of the trailer it does say Xbox LIVE so perhaps it does have multiplayer?

THQ's confirmed no Games for Windows LIVE support but has said nothing about Xbox LIVE. But I'd be hugely surprised if the 360 version has multiplayer and the PC version doesn't.

Because the 360 isn't a cheap computer limited by lack of universal HDD, High Capacity disk and poor build quality...

It does look good but seeing as it looks better on PC I'd have to say it isn't only possiple on 360.

If I was to buy one shooter this year it would probably be either this one or bioshock2. Either way both of them appear to keep the FPS genre fresh.

I'll definitely wait for scores on this one. from previews that were done around two weeks ago, it seems as if some things are off in the game.

Another FPS. The industry is becoming over saturated with FPS. Looks cool but there are too many shooters out there in the market.

The market goes where the money is, plenty of plublishers including the 2 of the biggest EA and Activision offer many games in a wide range of genres. I like all types of games, but unfortunately even the best rpg's, action, racers, platformers etc fail to generate the profits that the avg shooter brings in, and definitely not anywhere near what the blockbuster shooters sell. I think only sports/Madden has had comparable sells over the last 4 or 5 years and even Madden sales seem to be falling. Therefore dev's tend to make MORE shooters than anything else.

It's like saying I wish clothing companies sold more dress pants/slacks than jeans, yeah that's nice to know but in reality the avg consumer doesn't dress up as often as they wear casual clothes thus the market is alot bigger for selling jeans.

Damn lot of good looking games this year. I just got the book and will start reading this weekend. I want to dive into the story before I play and I heard the book is a fantastic read.
