As you can see, it only took Halo 3 to sell 10 million copies in 2 years with an install base of 30 million, while it took GT3 to sell 14.36 million with an install base of 120 million almost 9 years and had no competition. GT1 was the only other game in the franchise that sold over 10 million copies (no competition in the market) on the PS1 with an install base of 102 million units.

So as you can see with the FACTS (i understand its a word you Blind sony fanboys are not used too) your comment about the GT franchise being bigger than the Halo Franchise is correct that there has been more games released within the franchise but the Halo franhcise (having less iterations within the franchise) has a larger fan install base.

Bottom line - Halo Reach WILL outsell GT5. Accept the truth. The entire gaming community except the Sony Fanboys have...you may as well come to reality as well...and while you are, bring some of your delusional other Sony fanboys along with ya.

Most people have bought a PS3 for the Blu-Ray feature alone.
360 being released earlier didn't seem to stop the Wii from outselling the 360 - people buy what people want.
Also as you can see, the GT sales are not all that great to talk about. Combined they look great, but each individual game have not done all that well considering the install base of each corresponding console that the games are on.

Are PS2 still selling? YES
Are there GT series that are on the market for sale? YES

Time has nothing to do with this. It's the amount of consoles that are still in circulation and the products that are available for that Console.

As long as the install base increases, then that is a potential purchaser for any game available, especially if it's marked down in price.

Did you not read anything i wrote. The ps2 install base is 120 million in 2009 not 2001, back when gt3 debuted it was only 6 months after the PS2 came out.

Do you really believe they still press gt3 discs in 2009? If anything the final platinum editions of gt3 ceased production in 2004 when gt4 came out. You can only buy it now second hand or from merchants with foresight to bulk stock the game all those years ago, either way those sales would not be counted officially. Within the next year or if it hasn't happened already, Halo 3 will no longer be made for retail, so should i say 6 years from now that Halo 3 only sold 10 million in 9 years? of course not.

What your trying to say is that gt3 had 9 years to sell with a 120 million install base the whole time and therefore its numbers are unimpressive....get YOUR head straight.

Gears of War was a huge leap forward compared to the games that came before it, and since then really only Gears 2 was a graphical match to the first. Gears came out back in 2006. If the 360 were capable of much more, surely some other company would have delivered by now, but we just haven't seen it.

Bungie has made other games besides Halo and unfortunately the size of Halo is really taking up all of there time. Remember Quality is always better than quantity and they may be simply trying to deliver and make Halo a better. What I don't get is why it matter's what they make. It's like your saying because other developers do it then Bungie is crap because they don't lol. The creators of GT5 and even GOW3 are focused on those 2 games but I don't see any one trick pony comments about them which i find strange.

Halo Reach was in development 2 years before ODST started development.

ODST was made by a small group of devs, grand majority of Bungie was working on Reach.

The team that worked on halo 3: ODST had nothing to do, the project they were working on (Halo: Chronicles) was canned and that left them with nothing to do for a year untill they were needed for later development on Halo: Reach.

So in all aspects Halo 3: ODST was not a waste of time, it was not only a way for Bungie to make good use of unneeded recources but also to give something to the Halo fans and actually insured that a few employees didn't get bored.

I must be one of the few people on this site to actually like Halo 3's graphics.

Yesterday I was playing the multiplayer at a friend's house on an HDTV in 720p, and I really liked the graphics on LAST RESORT. I thought the lighting, textures, and explosions were really great.

I know they're not like Killzone 2 visuals, but I really don't see the reason why people need to call them crappy.

I don't think REACH will be as big an improvement as people are hoping for. I hope it is great, but I don't feel that Bungie concentrates as much on visuals as they do on providing a balanced experience.

No, the guy has a point, but it's now far enough into the 360's life cycle (halo 3 was released fairly early remember) that there's sure to be big improvements. That's a given.

Halo never had an overly realistic style to it anyway and I think that's part of the appeal for some people.

2 was/is my favorite as well. Bungie interjected a very mature subject matter, religion, into the story and allowed you to not only play as the villains, but explained their desires and motives. In 2, the Halo universe was given its soul and thereby ended the cheesy "Aliens" cliches I thought the original was plagued with. IMO, It's what separated Halo from every other console FPS at the time.

And at the very least, 2 moved the action from split-screen to MP.

Well this game is set to take on killzone 3, and it has been developed on a first party engine made by Ms "x-engine" and new tools, it has the budget and the development time cycle that the sony first party exclusive games have had. So any confusion that this game and the ones to follow made for this engine "GPGPU" are not going to super seed the ps3 titles for years to come are going to be shocked to there core, this x-engine is like MS has put a new graphics card in to the 360 mid cycle but it is only 5 more days and all truth that has been posted by many will be truly seen :)

I really hope Halo Reach stars the second group of Spartan-IIs Class II.

I remember reading in Fall of Reach that Franklin Mendez was to train the second group of Spartan-IIs. So I really want to see what happened to them. I know that Dr. Halsey said the program became to much money and was to be closed down. But the Class IIs would have gotten 11 years of training and not the normal 14 like the first group. So they still would have gotten years of training and could fight well in battle.

Plus with the Halo Reach trailer you hear about Sierra 320 and Sierra 259. So I hope the game stars them. Because I want to know what happened to them.

I also think the Spartan IIs Class II did not happen. But like I said the Fall of Reach book says that after John and the rest of the Spartans graduated that Mendez was going to train the second group. Now that could have been the plan but they ran into money problem like Halsey said. They could have started the program but because of money issues never could get far into it.

But the reason I think Class II is real is because of what Sierra-259 says "This is Sierra 2-5-9. You got Spartans on the ground, sir. We’re not going anywhere". That can't be any of the original Spartan IIs. Seeing as no one had that call sign. If it is not a Spartan it could be a normal marine though.

But I really hope it is the Second Class. I guess I will find out on December 12. So I am looking forward to the trailer.

You guys do not get it do you, sony has been in the console development cycle for a long time, they put a lot of cash into the ps3 to get a engine up and running that enhances the console strength, like cell/rsx combined to do graphics branching, with spe's/ ppe's/, Microsoft did not have this development engine that could take advantage of the 360 architect, no they just had pc development tools and pc guide lines, well now it has changed why do you think the unified nature of the console cpu/gpu can read and wright ram there is the c1 hardware component, for direct x 11 tessellation, meme xport, and stream in, but the biggest component of all. Is the fact that the Xenos gpu has been designed to take advantage of Microsoft DirectCompute, And all the pc/ps3 people it cant "quote" It can, and like all the new PC graphics cards on the market right now all have a unified architect, they all have hardware c1. Well ati cards have had that for years nvidia also, they all support GPGPU. Do the math with an optimized engine designed for GPGPU with direct x 11 hardware C1 features optimized HDD install with a 256gig bandwidth for texture stream with 512mb of unified ram, and a 3x core 6 thread cpu just for physic, and basic branching,

if you watch the video you notice some key indication that it's not cg.

1-the planets aren't round, they have edges on them
2-the space ship has normal mapped textures
3-their new lighting system allows them to properly portray the a transition from space to ground level
4-the scene is strikingly similar to what they used in their presentation
5-the scene is extremely similar to the halo 3 legendary ending.
6-the edges of the space-craft has all straight edges

Yeah, too bad MS doesn't make any money off of console sales. Just like SONY MS sells their console for a loss but makes up for it in software/live sales. It's how the business model has always gone for consoles. You sell the hardware for a loss until the cost of the system is cheap to the point you can lower the price keeping the same price loss margin. I'm not a massive halo fan. But i played the first Halo on PC.

And enjoyed it, Didn't quite get the silly little aliens running around making stupid noises.

Boy, Crysis Warhead has some ugly textures. Pretty much every concrete wall is low res. Try taking a macro shot and walk up to some cover for once. Bad comparison. The most impressive artwork in UC2 are the rocks (or mountains). They show a wide range of different (very high res) textures, not a re-hash of one and the only one scaled/stretched and what not re-used texture. That's an indication that you have headroom to use a lot of assets for such minor details due to the space the platform gives you.

BTW: I do not agree with the best lightning in UC2. That would still be KZ2 (+the quantity and quality of procedural smoke/particles).

I'm not fanboy, not at all... love me some games,was a HUGE 360 fan, don't have one anymore, and want what I justify as a reason to buy another one... I hope halo Goes Above and Beyond Killzone 2 and CODMW2 in EVERY WAY!!! i WANT halo reach to be NUTS, crazy graphics, STORY, multiplayer.... the WORKS!!! and I'll buy it. I try to not comment on here too often, because people are rarely fair and unbiased towards Vgames and systems. If I say something good about 360 then I a Sony/PC/Wii fanboy, and visa versa. One thing I will say is : Halo is so done, and Bungie (Just like Infinity Ward) has clearly shown that they only have 1 game Franchise to brag about.

Now, just like the 2 Modern Warfare games (And the Medal of Honor games), Halo is a storied franchise. (And I'm a Sony PS3 guy..giving credit.) However, Bungie has talking about a reach forward since Halo 2...and really hasn't happened. (Ditto for Gears and Modern Warfare) Look at Uncharted V. Uncharted 2, Killzone V. Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid series, Super Mario V. Mario 64, and Resident Evil V. Resident Evil 4 (One of the top 25 games of all time!). The Xbox 360, even with the shotty leadership of Microsoft, has delivered GREAT gaming and proved itself as a viable console this generation. HOWEVER, everyone has seen Halo:ODST, and if Halo:Reach is indeed a 360 game, their is no way that Halo will be a leap forward. Although it's argumentative about the 360 being maxed out, what is true is that Halo has not and will not evolve. (Ironic...since the 1st Halo game was called Combat Evolved.)

Geoff Keighley is a really good Vgame guy, and he is non biased as well. (Very rare these days.) That being said, Halo: Reach be just as a letdown as ODST...which is why the game was held back. (Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, and even Uncharted 2 are most likely better....which is why Bungie is once again camping out for a release window alone.) Halo: Reach should have just been a launch title for the next Xbox system, because the DVD-9 is inferior for storage and audio output. Also, NO matter what people say...Blu Ray is inevitable, which is the only safeguard to 2 disk games and complaining developers. No matter the type of hype it is receiving, AT LEAST IW PUT EVERYTHING INTO MW2, TO MAKE IT THE BEST UPGRADE POSSIBLE! Bungie is doing the same thing with Halo's as EA Sports is doing with the Madden Series....and every fanboy knows it!

PS3 fans, it's Halo, we know it will sell well if it was a turd stamped out in the shape of a DVD. We all know MasterChief's shyt don't stink and all Halo games are perfect.

360 fans, stop defending Halo like it is the 2nd coming of Christ. You guys sound bitter and you should be. The last 3 Halo installments were not all that great. We all know it sold a lot, but imagine if the advertising dollars were spent on development help for Bungie to make Halo3 in 720p with character models not built from tiny octogons, etc. Unfortunately you reap what you sow with insults like "Waitstation3", etc. when ironically, we believe that Halo Reach is the true next gen Halo game that you have been waiting for since the launch of the 360(now talk about late to the party!).

True story: My wife usually NEVER comments on my video games(especially negatively, its kinda my thing ya know). But I had her go out and pick me up a copy of Halo 3 on launch day. The 1st thing she said to me casually, and I quote: " Why does it look so shytty?" She is not the type to scan the HDTV for pixels, or notice some of the details that us gamers do, but even she noticed the lack of quality in comparison to other games she'd watch me play INSTANTLY.

So lets not pretend here, this gen's Halo so far has been subpar to its peers. 360 fans, the longer you pretend and stick your fingers in your ears and sing "La-la-la-la-la", the more PS3 fans are going to point and laugh.

Let's be honest, you make yourself look ridiculous when doing so. As a matter of fact, the only reason Halo Reach will look better is probably because the word is out that the past recent installments are so technically inferior, that the games are unworthy of the great Masterchief character we ALL know and love from the 1st installment (and even the 2nd). PS3 fans are responsible for pointing out these shortcomings while rabid 360 fans would even give a new "Halo: The Turd Evolved" a free pass. Ironically, PS3 fans may be more responsible for the long awaited Halo upgrade that is now taken place from all their fingerpointing... lord knows most 360 fans just keep their mouths shut and buy anything with a label.

Now PS3 fans, stop pretending that you don't like Halo. Yeah, there are a few who don't. I personally don't like Halo3 and ODST. It is not because I hate Masterchief, etc. It is because those games do NOT live up to the greatness of what the franchise should be or can be. It makes some of us sick to have people praise a product that is nothing but a big shortcut, getting our $60 just because they wanna milk the series. I don't mind the milk, but hell, make it worth my $60... make it 720p, the 360 is supposed to be easy to code for right? So what's the damn problem? You can't have it both ways 360 gamers, defend the 360 for being easy to code for, and defending substandard spec games all in the same breath.

Halo Reach is probably and simply will be the project that Halo3 coulda been, the one I wasted my $60 on... and making this game PROVES it could've been. That is why some of us have a bad taste in our mouths when it comes to Halo... and it ain't because we hate the game or the series. But don't isolate those who prefer the campaign and still consider it the 1st priority when purchasing a game, we know it is good practice to complete the campaign before jumping online. Lets not make excuses, let us all encourage a better Halo that we ALL can play and love, including getting the basics right.... the CAMPAIGN and STORY. I hope Halo Reach will be good, because after skipping ODST(for obvious reasons), it is time I picked up Masterchief's rifle again.

Halo 3 was a disappointment (go ahead disagree with my opinion, Bungie still squeezed money out of my pockets so I have every right to complain). I didn't go out and buy ODST because of it, still haven't, that game was also hyped up beyond what it could actually deliver. I know friends who will buy Reach first day, if it does impress me then, it's a first week buy for me. All I'm looking at with this trailer is if it matches KZ2 visually (not an outlandish request seeing how KZ2 will be a year old by time this game gets released and the media is proto-hyping the hell out of this game as the second coming of console visuals), if it doesn't blow me away my 360 will continue to miss out on play time. Think about this; there goal was to make the game as good as KZ2, that was what they were going for. They are going for visuals, and hoping that the "xengine" can deliever more from the 360...if it can't expect them to go overdrive into a new console launch with blu-ray(helps keep the pirates away)and delievers real HD not whatever microsoft is claiming is 1080p with dvd technology.

Prewritten 10/10 and 5/5 reviews are already being authored to ship to "respected" gaming sites. I am sure the goody bag content list is also being conjured up.

I pray that Halo Reach can stand on its own greatness without the need of such things. MANY people got BURNED with Halo3 and ODST. We trusted the reviews, made purchases, and many of us received much disappointment in our green game cases.

I hope Masterchief is restored to full greatness that we openly received him in Halo1. The 360 is a capable console, there are enough developers out there to offer help. No more excuses for sub 720p graphics, there are Halo novels available, a crappy story is unacceptable. We need a robust campaign that will allow us to relate to Masterchief, give us some challenges, some new enemies, hulking bosses, etc. would be nice.

Matters not, because the Halo series remains legendary (pun intended) as the video equivalent of Star Wars. While other games will be released next year, none will have the thousands of people standing in midnite like Reach will in 2010.

All that needs to be said is ODST made by tiny team in 8 months. Reach made by the rest of the Bungie building in 3 years. Bungie telling us that the leap will be from H2 to H3 equivelant. 3 Years later and NOBODY else games have topped Halo 3's matchmaking, Halo 3's Theater, Halo 3's Forge, Halo 3's 4-player co-op campaign..nobody.

Let's be perfectly clear for any one of these people living on planet N4G.com..Bungie could care less about the narrow opinions of haters who clearly never even played their games. Bungie is straight forward and transparant about the fact that they listen to their millions and millions of fans for what they want. but, the innovation comes from being the best developers of this generation. And all eyes will definately be on Bungie.

So who cares if the trolls break their keyboards complaining about ODST's value for the umpteenth time. It didn't work before the game was released and after 3.5 million people rewarded Bungie's gift to the fans with their wallet, it's clear it never will work.

1. They offered a Beta of the game with 'Crackdown'. Today this is emulated regularly by Sony. Killzone 2 beta, Uncharted 2 Beta, Mag Beta...even developers unsure about how their game will play on the PS3 like the Bad Company 2 Beta

2. 7-11 had Halo 3 cups and the special Halo version of the 'Game Fuel' drink. LMAO @ F-boys who think this mattered.

3. The standard viral internet, tv special, and magazine campaign. They made those cool live action trailers and the museum documentaries. All very standard fare for a blockbuster game (or movie for that matter)

In this case you got the most anticipated game of this generation about to be released, Sony hardliners want to pretend that Microsoft shouldn't have promoted it at all. Dumb.

Then Art Saber brings up two obscure reviews that meant absolutely nothing. But, says that his opinion is better than every other reviewer that loved the game's graphics. They always bring out the gift basket thing and say the media was tainted, but never bring up the free KILLZONE 2 PS3 that was sent with the game to sweeten the deal.

Look at the reviews at the time the graphics were great for that time. In fact, what the F-boys don't want to mention is when the developers of Killzone 2 say they couldn't even add co-op to the game without compromising graphics and performance. Which is why Halo 3 stand tall about with unprecedented at the time, 4-player online co-op fully integrated into the campaign. I know I speak for millions when I say that even with the single player having some plot hiccups and one frustrating level, playing it with 3 friends incredibly enhanced the play experience.

That said..hate all you want Halo 3..10 gamers with 10 multiple accounts or more mean absolutely zero to

The fact that you have confirmed Trolls like EvilDead360 cheering you on should let you know that there is something wrong with you. You say be a gamer not a hater... you define your newly found friend down to the letter. He claims he doesn't even know about the massive marketing that was behind Halo3. There was a Mountain Dew flavor "Game Fuel - (orange in color) Masterchief was all over the bottle. Masterchief was on Doritos bags for Halo3. There was a whole food and drink campaign that cost millions. If Evildead360 is a Halo worshipper and doesn't know about all this he should be meleed to death by a Spartan. The Halo3 ad campaign was massive and expensive.

The only one on here who thinks they are holier than anyone is you Kingslober. Name calling - calling me a whore when your avatar looks like one in green... I don't get it. You feel the need to attack me for my opinion, and you want to get personal. It is easy being tough from behind a keyboard isn't it? I did not post my original opinion for you. And if you can debunk what I say with facts, then go ahead and do so.

1. Debunk the fact that major game releases LIKE Halo AND OTHERS send "goody bags" to review sites. The bigger the game, the more lucrative the pack. This is how reviews lose touch with a game's value, because they never have to pay or gauge what $60 should be worth. Some big games ship out enough copies for the staff to take home, and a few spare consoles as prizes to book. In the music industry this is referred to as payola - See Sony for more details. Illegal for the music industry, but not in gaming because the business model is different on how the money is made and distributed.

2. Since all that matters to 360 fans is sells like EVILDEAD360 points out, then Wii Sports is better than any and all Halo games in history. So we will move on from that since Sony nor Microsoft can do better.

3. What is it with you and the word "whore" your vocabulary comes off a bit short. And again, judging from your avatar, I am sure you can find a better term to use that isn't against N4G's Gamer Zone rules.

4. Of COURSE you say you don't own Halo3 or ODST. The economy is kinda tough on folks right now, renting is the way to go for some. I understand that. I don't feel the need to even rent those games, bought Halo3, was disappointed, and I sold it. I moved on. But I find it shocking that a rabid defender such as youself couldn't scape up $60 + tax on a game you so rabidly defend. Go suck off your sugar daddy, he can hook you up.

5. I think you are an idiot for saying GOW controls should change. THIS LETS ME KNOW you aren't a gamer. Why change what works? I don't see you upset that MW2 didn't change a thing. On a Sony exclusive note, Killzone2 tried making some commendable changes from the COD4 shooting style by adding weight to weapons, etc. Making aiming something more than auto-aim. People whined and complained. LAIR controls, some people actually liked them, I personally didn't, but people whined and complained until they changed them.

Now on the opposite spectrum, you complain about God of War. I have you know that many 360 folks are raving about Dante's Inferno which is a God of War clone to the letter. It is God of War with a Diablo mod. Why change your control scheme when people find it to work so well, that they clone their ENTIRE game, the way it plays, all the way down to button presses off of God of War - See Dantes Inferno video clips for details.
