Mass Effect 2 Will Be Incredibly Emotionally Engaging

During a recent conference call about Mass Effect 2, BioWare CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka stressed the importance of emotional engagement in the game by mentioning the phrase "emotionally engaging" over and over again.

We'll see.

Keith Olbermann5255d ago

I love Dragon Age and I expect Bioware will make another engaging game. Too bad it wont be coming to ps3. Guess I will have to cross my fingers in hopes my pc will run it.

Strikepackage Bravo5255d ago

how broke are you, why don't you just buy a 360 and play the damn game?

Its 199.99!?!?!

GOWIII35255d ago

He has one but he could always be using somebody else's gamer tag for N4G.

beans5255d ago

You sir are hilarious. Keep the attacks coming at anything and everything 360 related lol.

Wow how pathetic, the same ps3 people commenting in every me2 article, how cut up about this game are you, I hear there's an article about valve, go shed a few tears there too, it's cheaper than therapy.

enjoy ME2 everyone, it's good to be a gamer.

Unicron5255d ago

Because you fools give him attention. If you IGNORE trolls, they go away. Silly. That's why I blocked TheTruth. Otherwise, you're complaining just for the sake of it.

Personally, I can't wait to pick this up and really max out my vid card settings. Can't wait to see what she can do.

They apparently do not realize all of the promises they failed to deliver on the first time. It's a "I'll believe it when I see it" this time.

They are bucking to take Dyack's prelaunch bragging award.

And some people keep forgetting this is a multiplatform game. Ever consider they could care less if it is on the 360 and are only concerned about the PC version?

ReservoirDog3165255d ago (Edited 5255d ago )

With the possibility of Shepard and probably others too actually dying in ME2, I'd imagine it would get pretty emotional.

A question for everyone though:

Why be pessimistic? Life's more fun when you're optimistic.

edit: @above

Story's the same on the 360 and pc. So.... what's your point exactly?

XxZxX5255d ago

just make it fully nude. screw FOX news.

kalebgray925255d ago

no school after next week.... all im going to do is work and mass effect.... and you know chill wit da homies.... but when they not around ... mass it up

morganfell5255d ago

The point is every time something negative is said about ME people assume it is a 360 attack. It isn't. Many people only care about the PC version and critical remarks concerning Bioware's inability to carry through on all of the tall promises they made the first time have nothing to do with the 360.

Now Bioware is making another round of promises. People seem to forget how they promised you would be able to explore a vast galaxy only to be cut down to far far less. Enter a solar system and you can read about all of the planets, land on one that has the same ugly low res textures as the last planet, you can explore only a very small sectioon of the planet and that is limited to a small structre that mysteriously has a large underground area.

Amazing. They can't build a building on the surface on these planets but they can carve huge areas out of rock.

We'll also ignore that ridiclous, impossible to flip, MAKO that would actually sling your guts against the ceiling.

By the way, how does the MAKO get back to the ship?

After the way in which the first game failed to deliver on Bioware promises many people are calling BS until they actually see delivery this time. Foll me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

DISCLAIMER: The fact that Bioware failed to deliver on so much they promised the first time can only be seen if you open your eyes and don a pair of honesty shades.

Saaking5255d ago

@Morganfell

There's no point in arguing man. To them it's 360 exclusive even though you can play it on PC. I know, makes no sense, but what can we do? Just sit back and laugh.

ReservoirDog3165255d ago

Yeah, I guess I get your point. It was kinda disappointing playing the same re-skinned level 50 times. And reading probably a small books worth of different planet yet never being able to go there.

But I wouldn't go so far as to say ME1 failed to deliver. It did its job and was pretty good. Not as good as people make it seem. My problems with it were sometimes bad dialogue and frequently bad voice overs. Story was decent I suppose but they were all just standing around lifelessly most of the time.

But you can't deny ME2 looks like they trying to fix as many problems ME1 had as they possibly can.

Also, anyone ever tell you you're very thorough?

beans5255d ago

360 owners could careless about a game going to pc as well. It's MS for crying out loud and there's know war going on between 360 and PC users. PC is a more powerful platform period and so long as there's know PS3 version really thats all MS has been trying to prevent. The logic isn't hard to understand seriously.

paul03885255d ago

I'm playing it on my PC now and I just can't stop. In the past week I've abandoned CoD and have put 25 hours into Mass Effect. I purchased it a few weeks ago when it was $10 on steam and I've never been happier with a purchase.

I originally passed on Mass Effect when it was first released but I regret that now. Bioware are the RPG masters this generation, I also purchased Dragons Age during the Steam Black Friday sale so I can't wait to boot that up as soon as I finish Mass Effect.

If I knew Mass Effect was as good as it is when it was launched, I would have gladly laid down $50 for it (PC). If they improve upon certain aspects of the game, Mass Effect 2 could be a defining game for this generation.

morganfell5255d ago

Resevoirdog,

Where ME failed to deliver is a poersonal opinion. For me the features on which they missed were key for me. The exploration was one I mentioned. Another area was the dialog system was far divisive as results among choices. I played as a thorough renegade the first time, starting with the choice for Shepherd's birth history which has an affect.

Then I went the Paragon route. Two opposite ends of the scale. The result? Very little difference. Even extreme remarks often generated the same response. Not always, but far too often.

This is bioware, characters and story and 2 bioware fundamentals, we already know the gameplay is going to be great, but the story and characters are always guaranteed to be amazing in their games

005255d ago (Edited 5255d ago )

it's going to be wicked and can't wait to put over 200 hours just like I did ME1.

QuantumWake5255d ago (Edited 5255d ago )

Haha! I loved that line! Have a bubble :D! I am really excited for ME2. I for one hope that ME2 will be really emotional. I want the game to grab me and drive me to an engaging story that will have me playing this game for years. Without a doubt, ME2 will be the only game I will play in 2010. Any other game will just have to wait.... Thank you BioWare! Happy Gaming! Cheers!! :D

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:

DustMan20d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
