Xbox Evolved writes: "As a genuine Halo fanboy I can't say that I had to big of hopes for Halo 3 ODST but I knew that at the very least, it was going to be more of what I craved and that was Halo. I'm pretty sure that if Microsoft made Halo tampons I would pick them up for the old lady when the need arose. With Halo 3 ODST it was no different, and like 2 million+ suckers out there I decided to cough up the sixty-dollar admission fee and dive into the world of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. Suffice to say, Halo 3 ODST will surprise naysayers with its up close-and-personal gameplay, entertaining Firefight mode, and its overall solid package. What won't surprise you is that despite packing a lot of content the journey won't last long, and the price is most certainly not worth it."

Nah 7 is what i would give this game as well. 7 is 70% and what is 70% usually known for? a grade of a C. What is a C usually? Average and thats just what this game is, average. It was fun, it was cool but meh no where near the experience I was expecting. Still better than most of the other shooters that have come out though but still "average".

In no way does it suck though. Judging from the tone of your comment I'm guessing your some fed up sony fan who also plays that "biased media" bull. Play ODST first then judge it. Thanks

I caved in and preordered ODST. I think a 7 is a fair score. It was solid, but short and expensive for $60. It should have remained as an expansion rather than a full retail game.

Scores should be less important to people and context should have more emphasis. Just because a game is good, doesn't necessarily mean it's worth 60 bucks.

I just traded it in yesterday and I used the money to buy Resistance: Fall of Man. I got all 1,000 gamerscore for ODST, got Recon for Halo 3 and then had no desire to play ODST anymore. FireFight levels get boring 30 minutes into the mission and then Campaign got old the the second time through. I've never been a fan of Halo 3's multiplayer so there was no reason for me to keep ODST. R:FoM is still incredibly fun after all the years! I've beat it well over 20 times solo and split-screen co-op and it just never gets old. ODST however, got stale after a week.

Good review. I liked ODST, but the experience is certainly Halo-lite because we don't have the familiar, comforting presence of past characters throughout the title.

I play this game and i enjoy it, but i'm also very realism if we speak about the game itself.

1: the game use the same old engine.
2: This game have the same gameplay, nothing new at all.
3: The grafisch is not good, but acceptable for the most Halo fans.
4: Music, is not that good in fact its boring and irritating when i play the game.
5: This game is funny nothing more than that.
6: the price point is very high.

A 7 out of 10 is really little to high for this game in this generation of gaming.

So,if i was journalist i gave this game a 6, just because this game is not original it's just a another Halo noting more or less. In my eys is the game is not wrong, its just a addon.

I'd agree with a 7. All the sites that gave this game anything above a 7 are either diehard fanboys or were scared of pissing off the fans. The campaign was a snooze fest and easily the most boring solo campaign I've ever played. Firefight is the only good part and it's not worth 60 bucks on its own.

The firefight has nothing to do with the game itself, it's just a modifaction nothing more. It's not new at all.

I play the firefight and i enjoy it, but a high point for this modifaction is not a reason for the game itself.

Well, I don't really like Horde mode in Gears2 myself and Firefight was no different so my decision to rent was a very lucky one for me seeing how short the SP is.

I don't agree about the SP being boring though-just undercooked and hampered by some awfully wooden and bored sounding acting(and a very poor likeness of the bird from BG too!). There were ideas I'd have loved to see explored further(the more open world, hub parts could have been done so much better and were a decent concept for a change of pace within a series game for me), the visors worked ok and only the flashback storytelling really jarred and that was mainly because it felt a bit contrived and the , again, acting issues.

Thing is if you don't have the maps and got a decent deal at retail it isn't that bad value-esp if you like Firefight I guess-but I've a feeling most people who bought it will be proper fans who already have and willl want everything that Bungie put out as a Halo FPS and I feel that MS and Bungie took advantage of their loyalty-it's just a bit of a con in that respect.

When I think of some of the crap that gets 7/10 though I think it's about as low as you can seriously go with the game even if it's not great balue and didn't explore it's better ideas that well. So, a fair score when you think of what it COULD have been, imo.

Fair score. ODST is too short, lacks too much content, it's too outdated, and a complete ripoff because of the Map Packs. They should of had ODST as a $15 DLC and had firefight and the 3 new H3 maps for a seperate $15 all on XBLM. $30 is a great deal for the package and a 9+/10 would be the perfect score, but this fame just isn't worth it. A sucker born every minute.
