They look the same. It is interesting how the PS3 version looks lighter in all of their comparisons yet I suspect that with every game, it will look equally dark when you play it on your own HDTV. These comparisons have lost their edge and are a waste of bandwidth these days.

I never see the point of these comparisons. If there are differences in gameplay, fair enough. But if its a case of "that pixel is bigger then that pixel", seriously.......who cares?

Is the frame rates. That's all I worry about. If one is cripplingly slow...then that matters. Other than that, not too much matters.

Um...multiplatform owners care? For $60 you always want to get the best version of a game you can get and thats who and what these comparisons are for. If you (not you specifically) are a single console owner then stop coming to these comparison submissions and complaining since it has nothing to do with you.

Its like comparing which TVs are best, which internet service provider is best, what car is best etc etc. You pay for something you want the best possible version you can buy.

So if you (not you specifically) own both a 360 and a PS3 these comparison videos may...or may not...help you ultimately choose which version to buy. If they didnt do a Orange Box comparison, I wouldve bought the PS3 version. Glad I didnt though.

Ok i suppose it matters if you own both consoles. This is the first time i've commented in this type of article, because these don't interest me. But i am keen on NFS shift. Its just to me most of the differences that exist are always usually minor, so i don't think it matters that much. I agree with what you said though, if you got both consoles you'd want to buy the best version

I, as a single console owner, have every right and reason to view these vids as a multi console owner. My reason is slightly different. I don't want to pay full price for an significantly inferior version of a multiplat game and I think it goes the same way for a 360 owner. If Modern Warfare for some crazy unprecedented reason is substantially inferior on the PS3 I would not buy the game until the price dropped in a major way. I would see as much via one of these vids.

If you've been paying attention, you'd know that they actually have stated they were running their PS3 on settings that aren't exactly conducive to getting the best picture quality. Furthermore, just because someone is a "professional" doesn't mean they're above making a mistake.

The guys at 1up and Gamespot were professionals according to your definition of the word. And they were blatantly biased to the point that a major overhaul occurred. Some sites like Kotaku were so biased that they were black balled.

I give credence to sites that continue to justify me doing so but if this gen has taught me anything it's that even the big sites, the professionals, can and do make mistakes that lead to an improper representation of a game and a console's worth.

Hardly a difference.

The lighting and contrast seems to be slightly darker on the 360.

But the PS3 version looks to have better anti-aliasing as seen at 1:34.

Overall though, it's a stupid comparison and goes to show that Black Box was terrible working on the PS3.

Kudos to Slightly Mad studios for making both versions look and run great.

They look pretty similiar to me apart from the slight difference in brightness but what happened to the damage on the ps3 version? where is it? maybe they had it turned off?

I don't usually post on comparisons but I do view the stories on N4G and this just shows that the comparisons are a complete waste of time.

I saw the comparison the other day where the PS3 was too blurry and you couldn't see the needles on the dials. WOW! They must have fixed that for this reviewers build.

The 360, DAMN! It's so dark I can't see what is going on!

Now looking at the other comparison from the other day, it's quite a bit different!

Maybe... JUST MAYBE the settings are different from the other comparison, MAYBE they are using different inputs, MAYBE they are using a different TV. If the settings make such a difference then who is to say who is right and who is wrong?

I gotta say this, when I play a game on my system, it usually looks a lot better than a screenshot or a video shown on the net. Maybe I just have a special version of the console...

I can see the point to these articles for multi-console owners but they seem to be so skewed one way or the other they end up being pointless... And I just wasted 15 minutes commenting on something pointless /sigh

Yeah the point is for multi console owners, but u have to be careful of the source it has to be captured over hdmi. Least GT has some decent hardware to do them. Never listen to opinion just watch as much stuff for yourself then decide.

If the Reference level on the 360 is set to "expanded" instead of "standard" it tends to get overly dark and loose some of the detail because of that. I would be curious to see what theirs 360 is set to.

There are so many low resolution textures in both console versions, however there are equally as terrible textures in the PC version.

I prefer the look of the 360 version. But the difference is only slight, you wouldn't be missing out if you bought either versions.

I have never see the 360 screen to dark... i think its something to do with the settings they have it on, other then that not much difference.

Lets face it, unless there's a glaring difference, which there hardly ever is, those of us with both consoles are going to get it on the console we usually buy multi[plats on for whatever reason.

N4GKing, sorry, but you're living in the past. Gran Turismo actually has competition now(just like the Playstation brand, and just just because it says "The Real Driving Simulator" on the box, doesn't make it the best.

In fact, when reviews roll out, there's a very good chance we will see Forza 3 outperform Gran Turismo once again(Gran Turismo hasn't been AAA since GT3...Over 10 years ago...while Forza has consistently been AAA since then), considering it's the sim with more tracks, full damage and rollover, much, much more and better customization, better multiplayer customization, known to have better physics in comparison with Gran Turismo's outdated, bumper-car racing physics.

Did you miss Gran Turismo's PSP reviews? Yea. Gran Turismo is no longer the leader, hasn't been for a long time, at this point it's just trying to match Forza's features(and it doesn't, kinda like PS3 trying to keep up with 360 and copy everything it has done)

When reviews roll out, Forza 3 will be higher rated than Gran Turismo 5. GT5 doesn't even have damage.

The last i heard, forza couldn't even handle more than 8 cars in a single race...which is puzzling considering that the graphics is nothing special.

Oh and the 'better physics' for forza??? Let's wait till we get both games before we start the debate shall we? You know,there's a reason why REAL professional drivers choose GT instead of forza. wink~

And using the PSP game in your argument is just pathetic. You really think GT5,the KING of driving sim, is going to ship without a career mode?? Yes forza may be good enough for you since you can't play GT5,but I don't play inferior products.

The 360 game releases this year have been pathetic and M$ is banking on a 66/100 scoring halo expansion to save it. And yes Forza 3 has more tracks than GT5. And yes, Sony has done nothing but try to be like Xbox 360 this generation.

Gran Turismo is the "King" of nothing, period, and hasn't been every since Forza became a franchise(and has scored better than outdated Gran Turismo every since, just as Forza 3 will outscore GT5.)

GT5 doesn't even have damage on like 75% of the cars. Doesnt have drag racing, doesn't have drifting, doesn't have realistic Tire physics or "Tir Flex" like Forza, which mimics a real car, has MUCH less customization(paint, body kits, autotuning, everything), has less tracks, won't even touch Forza on Xbox Live and it's amount of online options.

GT5 is going to get smoked, we will see. It isn't the best and hasn't been for over a decade.

I thought about Grid, too. The video can't give you the feeling of handling, though. And GRID was lacking there, IMO. OTHO, I think it looks way better then GRID and it has a better user interface (presentation).

BTW: Myth that damage is off in PS3 (in one shot the windshield is shattered).

i agree with ya it looks way better than grid comparisons,but these videos just don't do any justice they can spin them anyway they want. I really don't see any major difference other than lighting and the damage, Other than that the game looks great on both it something to be expected on a multi console game.

I own both Dirt 2 and SHIFT and to anyone who's looking for a pure racing game as compliment to GT5/Forza 3, Dirt 2 is better in all areas. Imo SHIFT is the most overrated game to come out this year. Once you reach tier 2 the cars start to behave horribly. It's as if you are driving on oil. Not in an arcadey way either. It's ridicolous.
