Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 Gun Roster Revealed

'According to Modern Warfare 2 fansite, mw2blog.com, the current Modern Warfare 2 weapons roster goes something like the below.

Featuring current favourites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, such as the G36C, M4 Carbine, SVD Dragunov and H&K MP5, as well as more recently released and concept weaponry, the weapons roster is currently looking pretty well rounded, with an already larger choice of weapons to the last Modern Warfare game.'

Relax guys this is only the confirmed weapons list, meaning guns that they have seen in screenshots, videos, and promotional art. Not the final list. Also the xm8 is not in the game the gun was canceled in 2006 therefore it never made it into the hands of any troops.

Yes, the Mk.14 EBR is a modified version of the M14. The only M16 that is capable of full auto is the M16/A1. It isn't used in service any longer. Most likely it will be the M16/A4 which has two fire rates. Single and burst.
As for the H&k XM8 it was canceled as someone has said. Though our U.S. Special Forces used it in the field for testing. It didn't make the cut. The FN SCAR or as it should be refered to as the Mk.16, or Mk.17 depending on which round the rifle is chambered for.
The Mk.16 fires the 5.56mm cartridge, while the Mk.17 fires the 7.62mm cartridge.

the m16 is made full auto, when it first debut during VietNam it was fully automatic, three round, and single shot. Now the standard issues are single shot and three round burst, and the m16 carbine AKA the m4 is the fully automatic with a shorter barrel. But they are still in production for during fire team ops and some sniping/ recon missions.

I'm excited for the TAR 21 as well! I hope it is better than in R6V2, because I remember in V1 they had the MTAR and in V2 they opted for the TAR which for some reason just wasn't that great compared to many of the other guns in Vegas 2.

Themyk got it right. That was the main reason for removing full auto on all the M16 rifles after the A1. The M4 isn't an M16 carbine. It's inception comes from the CAR 15 which was developed during Vietnam as well for use with U.S. LARPs. The M4 was born from this rifle. Though, the CAR 15 was designed form the AR-15 as was the M16. The CAR-15 first came into in 1965.
There are no fully automatic M16 rifles in U.S. military service today. And I doubt that any developed country in the world uses the M16/A1. The M4 is capable of single and full auto.

The thing is that the U.S. military is slowly beginning to phase out the M16 all together in favor of the M4. Reason being. The type of war we're fighting. The typical range of engagments, mostly urban fighting has led to this decision. Although I personally think it's a bad idea. The M4 doesn't have the effective range that an M16 has. And when you need to fire your rifle at 350 to 400 meters, You won't be using anything but single shot. You won't hit your target on Burst or Full Auto.

seems to be lacking in certain categories. Only 2 snipers would be fine, but seriously, there's no way the game will feature the WA2000 and the dragunov but not the usual stuff like a barrett (whichever model they feel like), the M24/M40/M110, well you know, an actual US military issued sniper rifle, not an old soviet sniper and a rare and overly expensive collectionner's weapon like the WA2000.

Also, while I don't expect many handguns in the game, having some more would be nice, and if they only want to put 4 of them, only having either the USP or the m1911 to free a spot for a different caliber would be nice as well.

Finally, having the MP7 would have been a nice addition. Oh, and why do games these days always put the AK-47, I know it's the most widely known model, but I believe that the AK-74, the AKM or the newer AK-100 series could fit better in a "modern warfare" game...

anyway, nice list of guns, but hopefully it will be slightly better.

I disagree with you. The reason being. Bushmaster ACR. Actually, this AR was designed by Magpul These guys are amazing when it comes to their products. They make the best. However they don't have the ability to produce that AR on a scale to meet demands. Therefore they outsorced it to Bushmaster. I wonder if we'll get to change up the the ACR. magpul designed it that way with interchangable parts. Look up Magpul Masada, which is the ACR.
That AR alone has me sold, esp. considering that it's using Magpul P-Mags. You can see it in the trailer.

Also it appears that the M4 in the game will come equiped with a VLTOR stock. Also the appearance of EOTech sights is a nice addition. I hate the reflex red dot sight. And last but not least is the M14 EBR. I love that battle rifle.

Um I really don't see them going with only 2 sniper rifles after having a much larger selection in the last game. I don't think IW is dumb enough to alienate the massive sniper crowds out there. But there attachments seem good.

Master Key is a nickname given to underslug grenade launchers like M203.Its used for breaching rooms or clearing out barricades

Nope, Colbert you got it wrong. A masterkey works like an M203 in that it fits to your M4 the same way, but that's it. A masterkey is a 12 gauge shotgun, holds 4 shells. I've never heard of any Marine or Soldier using one ever. They exist, but aren't used often.

Weak, very weak... especially considering the armaments available in games like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (which will at least rival that of its predecessor), not to mention vehicles and destructibility, and Modern Warfare 2 can't even match them on WEAPONS!!!

Perks are great, but give me more weapon variety with realistic advantages and disadvantages any day of the week.

lol don't make me laugh, strategy & accuracy, yeah sitting in one place holding your C O C K is a real skill - NOT, only noobs snipe because they haven't got the skill to play properly - too scared of getting killed!!
I am not saying get rid of snipers because it is an element of the game, i just think it is a crap cheap way of playin & too many spoil it the game, plus i just love stabbing those sniping fools. I think they should limit the amount per game. Skill in COD is being able to play all styles moving around the map & always have a positive kill ratio, not hiding, aim & fire, no skill whatsoever anyone can do that u NOOB!

personaly I enjoy playing with all kind of guns but specially like sniping. Im not the camper kind tho, I change spots often and get in the open to snipe face to face. I do think it takes more skill than pulling the trigger and throwing 1000 bullets per second.
grenade spammers, back stabbers, spawn killers those are who spoil the fun, not snipers IMO.
