PALGN writes: "Devil May Cry made quite an impact back in 2001 as an action game like no other and was perhaps the first video game that coined the term 'stylish action'. The game was the brain child of famous video game director Hideki Kamiya, who has also directed several other acclaimed games such as Okami, Resident Evil 2 and Viewtiful Joe, to mention a few.
There was something about the original Devil May Cry game that was truly exceptional at the time and the sequels that came later expanded on the concept that Hideki Kamiya had laid down. While Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 4 were really good games, they never made the same impact as the original."
