Pretty sure 3rd party software will all be this way over the next few years. Release it on multiple platforms, give incentives or DLC for certain versions.

nice. with over 1mil in sales on the 360 alone, it was obvious a sequel would follow. i'm sure this will be available on both ps3/360.

although the campaign wasn't the best, the multi-player was great and i liked it alot. also, i thought capcom crafted a very beautiful game engine, and the game was seriously under-rated graphically. and will look even better after some more optimisation.

i've not checked out the trailer yet.

hopefully they'll throw in some on-line co-op this time...

i really enjoyed lost planet, even though some didn't ( notice i was able to accept that with out name calling, bashing of systems etc )

lost planet on the hardest difficulty ( before they updated it) was one of the hardest games i have played this gen.

i loved the mech's and some of the weapons and effects.

there were somethings that were very, very frustrating; like when you got knocked down by a shot, it was very hard to get up again with out getting knocked back down. the camera was a bit strange ( i think capcom has a bit of an issue with getting controls right )

it was not perfect, but i look forward to the next one.

Lost Planet 2 has; more enemy variety, weapon variety, scenic variety, solid framerate, no screen-tearing, online co-op, bigger single-player campaign, more multi-player options and maps, responsive controls, better flame/explosion effects and much much more.

Killzone 2 has; a short-player campaign, control issues, screen-tearing, long loading times and a crappy gauze/grain filter that can't be turned off. Woohoo! Best FPS ever my ass!

here are my initial impressions.

the first game I enjoyed the gameplay hated the story. they seem to be focusing on a more in depth story this time based on the Q&A I watched over at gamersyde. they also have overhauled the environments with jungles and the like which look very impressive imo. all in all I think this is a game that gamers (since we all know or assume it's multiplat) can enjoy.

I loved the first game though, although that love was more to do with the graphics, level design, weapons, mechs etc. - the actual story itself, well i found it kind of corny ( although i am getting used to that being a capcom sort of thing )

i don't know if anyone noticed but they seemed to use some of the character designs in some other games; ie the guy with the big chin- showed up with his big chin in DMC4.

but for the time it came out, its graphics and some of the battles you got into with the akrid and mechs were epic.

I will buy this over RES5 any day. i also hope its has hard as the first one, that was a real challenge.

I don't know if you watched the whole video, all the way to the end, where there was absolutely no mention of it being exclusive to the 360. May have gotten the first look, but Capcom isn't hedging it's bets with exclusives, especially since established franchises sell better on the PS3. You may know something the rest of us don't but I doubt it since you talk and act like a complete tool.

Looks much better than the first though, so I can't wait to play it on my PS3, since it will be multi and all. And don't cry too hard because there are no original games that come out of Microsoft except Halo and that's hardly original anymore.

For those of you who didn't like the first one, your the minority. This game has the best visuals (weather conditions, explosions, scenery) I have seen compared to other games. I wish more games would offer weather/night conditions in muli-player matches like Lost Planet does. The audio is certainly up there as well. Gameplay is unique and balance from the weapons to the the use of mechs. Simply awesome!

The first was a mediocre game in a time where gamers were starved for games. However I must say I'm pretty darn impressed from what I saw. The graphics down to the modeling look vastly improved, and the environments, and gameplay also look much more varied, plus co-op is always a huge plus. I just hope they got rid of that time limit mechanic. It looks like a solid rental or possibly even a purchase if the multiplayer is up to par. I'll be watching the development of this game for sure though. Capcom is known for quality products.

P.S. I love the perspective of the boss battles. It made the creatures look truly ginormous.

Lets say that Lost Planet 2 came out today, and sold 2.8mil on the 360 and 2.1mil on the PS3 both would be considered a blockbuster success selling to ten percent of the install base. At this point even if the PS3 sells at five percent its install base it would still be considered a success on the platform given the lead over the PS3. Despite the fact that a game like GTA4 sold more units on the 360 the attach rate to the PS3 version was better, indicating that more people were apt to make their purchase of said game on the system it originated on. The 360 version only seems like it sold better because it's install base was higher. If the PS3 and 360 launched at the same time, the lead would be negligible if there was one at all for either system. The PS3 would more than likely be ahead even if by a small amount and the games would clearly selling better.

There is no point in arguin which system sells better at this point, the game will sell just fine on either system that it is released for, and if Capcom wouldn't have waited so long to sell LP on the PS3 there would have been a much higher attach rate. It's hard to get excited about a game that was hyped at it's original release, there's no fanfare for a game that comes out over a year later than its original. This is more than likely the driving force behind SE's decision to release FFXIII at the same time, despite the fact the PS3 version will be completed long before that 360 version is even being started. 360 owners will care even less that FFXIII is coming out if it's already been out for a year or more on the PS3.

I bought LP for my PS3 and was generally as unimpressed as I was when I played it at a friends house on the 360, it's not completely mediocre but it certainly isn't worth the hype that originally surrounded it. If the game came out at the same time or within, say, six months of its initial release they would have sold on par with each other. The 360 version still would have sold more due to install base, but not much more when comparing the attach rates of the games to the system. DMC4 is a perfect example of this, look it up.

LP2 will sell better on the 360, but the marketing for the PS3 version will be much more aggressive to sell more units, especially in Japan.

Now if only we could get a port of Dead Rising on the same disc as Dead Rising 2 for the PS3, that would be fantastic and help the game sell better on the PS3 than it would without. That's just a pipe dream, much like the fantasy world that fanboys live in when they start spouting off nonsense 'its sells more here than it does there' crap. This post could be looked at the same way but its just a means of demonstrating the fallacies in such arguments

A healthy debate is one thing but when you start saying things that you know and everyone else knows isn't true you start to discredit yourself and sound like a bias fanboy! I think everyone here despite of what console they prefer has come to see that PS3 exclusives are better looking than its competition, the 360.

Personally I'm excited for Lost Planet 2 no matter which system it comes out on. I really enjoyed the first game. The story was good and the environments and weapons were futuristic yet believable. It wasn't "too" sci-fi; I feel like Capcom got it done just right. I'm looking forward to more info on Lost Planet 2!

nah, not even close, there is too much going on on-screen in KZ2 and uncharted to even compare to the vast openness of LP2, my 1.4ghz computer with a 64meg graphics card is able to draw things like LP2 in realtime, its so open there is no strain at all on the processor

My gripe with Lost planet was stupidly hard areas where your guy is too frustratingly slow to move out of the way of the tons of enemies all shooting at you. They have shown that is not fixed, so sadly I won't play this.

Lost Planet was HORRIBLY annoying like that, yep! And the tumble animation, argh MAN it just felt like the game was messing with you! Hard mode isn't even playable without the eminent fear of getting pissed off enough to send your controller flying.

I hope they learned something!

Lol yep, I got stuck on a boss that I played a good 50 times and I gave up and sold the game.

I liked Lost Planet. I think the mech designs were great, a good mix of Mech Warrior and Armored Core. You guys see that 3 pilot, dual gunner mech in this new trailer? Amazing!

Feels like DMC4 left some skid marks though...another giant amphibious monster? It's good but I hope they have some good boss fights.

I'm VERY excited for this game!
