MS 'Whoring' out the Halo Franchise?

Pezcorner blog believes that MS is "whoring" out the Halo Franchise by making it too commercial and damaging the reputation of the series. What do you think?

ive never even heard of the site so this really isnt news, fact is halo is huge, halo 3 is going to be massive! crackdown is kinda sh1t and over hyped! sorry guys but i never liked GTA, and any game like this spiderman saints row etc dont do anything for me, yes some will buy it for the halo 3 beta but thats their call, i would rather wait for the game to come out, im so excited about halo 3!

When did Crackdown come into this? You may not like free-roaming games, but there are quite a few people out there who do. I've been interested in Crackdown since I first saw it in a magazine (before the 360 launch) and having played the game, I have to say I love it. I think it's right up there with Gears of War and Oblivion. There's no harm in waiting, November isn't that far away now...then again, neither is spring...(chuckle)

Who cares? Of course Halo is getting the royal treatment. It is the right up there with the biggest franchises OF All TIME. If this title was multi-platform, I feel that it would dethrone GTA as the best selling game, period.

And let me just say this: If the quality of the product still mangages to kick ass, then whats the problem. I admit that I'm alittle worried about this movie they are trying to push, but books and action figures? Not a problem at all......

its really hard tell right now. maybe maybe not, we need to see and demo the game first before we can talk numbers.... but i agree with you on the halo movie i have no idea how there going to pull it off?

I think halo2 broke the 10 million mark already.

Halo is BIG TIME its probably the strongest franchise in recent years, Halo-"3" hasn't even arrived yet so this guys claim is waaaay off base. One thing I do agree with is the idea that even if a franchise is popular sometimes you have to put your foot down and tell the fans, "hey thats it this is the last ____" otherwise you risk the chance of overdoing a good thing and eventually the product itself isn't all that good and you find yourself resting on your laurels. I for one don't believe Halo3 is the last we'll see....I think Bungie could definitely explore this franchise a little more and make Halo4, 5 or maybe even 6, but seriously I think at some point its smart to draw the line and tell your fans its time to move on because you have other ideas that are just as good or better. So don't shoot me, but I hope Halo franchise doesn't go the way of FF, as much as I love Halo we have all seen titles that have been done too much, same as movies....sometimes its better to kill it when its hot and then one day bring it back, IMO theres nothing wrong with doing a few sequels every year or every other year for awhile but the same game over and over just gets stale and sometimes I think it can take away from the "greatness" of the franchise....and the last thing you want is for any company that is capable of delivering "new" innovative IP's to NOT deliver because they can "count on" there best brand being a hit. -Not Bungie but all companies in general.

In order for Bungie to make a $20 million game (or however much it costs to make a Halo sequel...) they need a publisher who is happy to release their game.

Usualy, the best way to keep a publisher happy, is to give them loads and loads of money (a bit like other companies...). So if your publisher wants to be "happy" by selling loads of merchandise from your product, it would be best to let it do so, if you want to make another $20 million game.
