Bizarre Creations announced today that the Xbox 360 versions of Geometry Wars have just logged over 1,000,000 leaderboard entries. Straight from the horse's mouth:
Today we are very pleased to announce that there are now more than one million combined leaderboard entries for Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 1 & 2! Now that's a lot of highscoring and shape blasting! GWRE was released in November 2005, and its sequel saw the light of day at the end of July 2008.
Unfortunately it's impossible to tell whether these leaderboard entries equate to one million real life people. It's possible to have multiple accounts on your Xbox 360 which are used by a single person. Also there's going to be quite a few people who own both games, and have a leaderboard entry on each. Mind you, the leaderboards also don't take into account anybody who plays whilst not connected to Xbox Live, for example folks who own the XBL games compilation disc.
Obviously these numbers don't take into account the versions of Geometry Wars available on other platforms: mobile phone, PC, Xbox 1, Nintendo Wii and DS.
Anyway, it's still a very important milestone for the Geometry Wars franchise and one which we're very proud of here at Bizarre. If you'd like to check your positions on the Retro Evolved leaderboards, you can do so directly on this website.
Darren writes: "At a glance, you’d assume Geometry Wars had been around for decades, originating in the arcades alongside classics such as Space Invaders and Pac-Man. It had that classic formula, looking and feeling like a retro staple of the gaming world."
It turns out that the unyielding onslaught of enemies and obstacles in Geometry Wars provides a pretty accurate metaphor describing a typical day in a corporate office. This article may help to make sense of, and almost find comfort in, the day-to-day insanity.
Carlos "April proved to be a fantastic month for backwards compatible arrivals, with some of the most requested Xbox 360 games finally being made playable on Xbox One, all through the power of emulation. A new month means more titles and this week sees the first of May's BC titles bringing a double whammy for one popular series amongst the masses this week. Are they worth taking a look at?"
I,bought some side scrolling Ninja game back in the day on XBL on 360 but I can't remember the name of it. It was fun as Hell! It was cell shaded and pretty violent. I wish they would bring that to BC. Anyone remember the name of that game?
Its a good one.I recommend it to all
Great Game, must buy.
