R1= 8.6 on meta critic. R2= 8.8 on meta critic (so far). i wouldn't be surprised if it drop's below a 8.6 below the score of the first one. just wanted to point that out and both games deserve a 9+ each.

well to be honest i dont know what the metric was on those games but i know i seen 8 and 8.5 in a couple places....too me that game was a 11 just because i enjoyed it for around 500 hours

This was how things were. Now if a game is not AAA on metacritic its is a flop. I still blame x360 trolls and MS for this because they loved to point out how many AAA games they have and how PS3 didn't have any.

To show how stupid this is. About 95% of games don't rate more than 90 on metacritic. So are 95% of all games flops?

I think its safe to say that reviews have nothing at all to do with a game being a flop or not. A flop is a game that costs more to make then the money it brings back from sales.

Why is a game being just fun bad? I was unaware every game had to be something brand new. CoD4 didn't do much new, it was just amazingly fun.

reviews should be based solely on how much fun you will get out of the game. Whether that's a little fun over a long time, or an incredible amount of fun for 8 hours, it shouldn't matter if it does nothing new. As long as it is fun.

Honestly, I wish sites like metacritic didn't exist. Because then we wouldn't have all these lame ass reviews being put on these sites to show how game A. is superior to Game B or vice-versa.

I played through most of R1 and I just started playing Gears 1 on PC (Target clearance gotta love it) and both games are really good and also very different. Both games are fun and the production value shows depending on what aspect of the game you are looking at.

Example. Gears 1 is better looking then Resistance 1 but Resistance 1 is better written and portrayed then Gears 1. But review scores and blind fanboys can't seem to grasp that principle.

In the end I want to play the sequels to both titles regardless of what IGN, GameInformer or metacritics say about either titles.

To all the fanboy for either camp STFU and just play the games you want. Remember, in the end you pay $60 just like everybody so all your rooting in the world won't make Sony or Microsoft give you the titles for free.

Resistance 2 is better than Gears 2 since R2 got a 9 from them. I will know soon enough which is better. Already played Gears 2 and i am just waiting for my R2 copy.

upon the first but not much. Every aspect is better than the first so if you like the first then you should buy it.

Edit: Elrom. The ending is worse than the first one but the overall story and voice acting is better in Gears 2.

Looks like I was right when I pointed out to Giantenemycrab that gears 2 is not greater then R2 just because gamepro gave it the higher mark. As I said before, some sites will rate R2 higher and some will rate Gears 2 higher but in the end they're both great games. Good time to be a gamer.

Lets be honest, too many games get a 10, and so many games get 9's when they are not worthy of that score, years ago scores worked pretty well. Even on the amiga ffs. But these days, it's all hype.

It's kinda like football, what players earn, and half of them have no skill.

I'll point one player out. David Beckham. Massive media hype because of kicking someone in the back of the leg,doh. Skill wise i'd give him a 7. Has never been able to take people on, can only cross. but the poor publicity (good/bad)helped him. Now a man utd fanboy at that time would have given him a 10. because those fanglasses do something to people.

Same as kate moss, nothing special to look at, gets caught snorting drugs,etc. Boom New contract lmfao.

We all have our opinons, Mine was gears of war 1 was 8. if this game improves on that, i'd maybe push to a 9 max. it's never been a 10 game. if i put xboxglasses on it'd be a 10. but for content offered it's a 9 max.

Lets look at resistance 1, nothing like gow1. yet compared all the time.

Everyone (media encluded)expected R1 to look like gow1. Why, were people so in love with bulky males, with a chainsaw?

R1 looked decent enough, had alot going on, decent story, good multiplayer. didn't get bad scores. (but with people hating on ps3 price) it tends to overshadow what a game/s do well.

R2 Comes along, does a story mode better told, now all mo-cap. Better graphics, more going on again. 60players, clans, co-op 8. etc.

And most of the reviews reflect this in the writeup, but not in the score. For content offered compared to nearly everother title out there, this should get a 9.5 at least.

Now your thinking I've got fangoogles on. I haven't! I'm a pc gamer, and i look for value, and whats really worth playing and judge on that.

I'll give people another instance.

Motorstorm 1.

Got good scores(theres nothing else like it on the market)ran well, good fun. Alot of people moaned,no split screen,not enough maps.

Motorstorm 2 comes along. Better visuals,More tracks,More variety,split screen,x2,x4. and yet again reviews reflect on it in the writeup but not in the score.

They seem to punish every ps3 title because of a few mistakes instead of praising it for what it does well.

Gears of war2 has slowdown, sloppy story,2 ex players muliti, some new maps. yet it gets a 10.

Lets look at another, Mass effect, good story, decent gameplay. Terrible fps, texture loading, bugs galore.

Mass effect on ps3 would have scored 7's.

Until the hate stops with the ps3, you won't see the scores some of the games should be getting.
