That's the same thing i said about LBP. None of these games should be scoring perfect scores especially if we all know there not perfect. I will always and forever trust my own judgement anyways.

Yes and no.

I personally don't think MGS4 should have got nearly as many 10s as it did.
GTA4 definitely didn't deserve all those 10s.

There are quite a few games that didn't deserve 10s but they got them.

LBP probably does deserve a 10 IMO. But when you're throwing around 7s and 8s for average games, you've nowhere left to go for an awesome game.

The review system needs to be re-jigged and I blame metacritic. If your website wants to give a 5 to an average game that's going to upset the metacritic average. Anything less than 6 is usually considered a flop - whereas actually a 5/10 should be alright and could be quite fun. I don't know why 7 has become the average. Even if a game gets a 7 you have fanboys proclaiming "FLOP!!".

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess that's why I think a 5 point scale is
better than a 10 point one. I remember back when I used to read OPM and PSM, both magazines would use a 5 point scale, and it would be really easy for me to figure out if a game was "average" or not.

I guess what I am saying here is that the internet has really spoiled people's opinions on games in general. Seriously, a 6 or 7 out of 10 used to be a decent score to many people, and a 10, or even a 9 was hard to achieve with many publications. I remember when I used to think 8 was a "buy" instead of a "rent".

A 4 / 5 is a great score, until you have idiot fanboys looking on Metacritic and seeing that it means less than 85 percent, and then automatically thinking that a game is a "flop", just as you said. It's really just all pathetic...

The online mode is really the reason to play this game.

I think that the fanboy war and the hype are giving 10's all around the place. If MGS4 got a (deserved) 10 and the reviewer thinks that gears 2is better he'll give it a 10. Only MGS4 a LBP deserved a 10 this gen IMO, the rest of the games are overrated

MGS4 does not deserve a 10.I have played the game for a bit and the cutscenes are just too long and some were unnecessary in my opinion.Secondly MGO is still broken till this day.So how does that justify a perfect score?

As for LBP, i will reserve my judgment until i play it myself, but i have read reviews that gave the game a perfect score complain about the controls not being great.But as i said i would reserve my judgment until i play and i recommend you do the same for Gears 2.

Only Little Big Planet deserves a 10 this generation. Everything else is mostly last-gen games with lots polish, especially Gears of War. Or hell, other games are simply last gen, like Halo 3. Reviewers care more about ad dollars than their own integrity, especially ever since Microsoft entered the industry.

To continually say,in each review thread,that Gears has scored to highly and it only deserves a ? is sad.

Heres an idea - play the game yourself for a decent period of time and THEN tell us what you think the score should be.

Its like me saying today that Halo4 or FF13 should both be 5/10 just because.......

Gears 2 is a minor improvement over the last Gears. Resistance 2 is a huge improvement over the last resistance and it's doing a lot of things that haven't been done on any other game or console, and anyone who played the beta knows it's very well implemented.

If Microsoft is willing to pay 50 million dollars for DLC, I don't doubt they're willing to pay a few dozens of thousands of dollars for each review score from a "well reputed" magazine that favors them and that bashes the competition.

This is not speculation, I know that Microsoft pays a lot for ads because I used to work for a web publication named Techno until the editing team decided that we should try to appeal to Microsoft so that they give us ad money "like they do with the competition".

And yes, it needed that amount of change to become a 9.5 game, not an 8.9 which is barely better than the 8.6 the first got in Metacritic. Not like it matters since evidently review scores are bullsh1t and what matters is the actual reviews anyway.

Hater? I'm not hating anything, I'm just being realistic. I just don't see why reviewers don't apply the same standards for reviewing Gears 2 as they do for resistance 2. "I didn't like the story" or "I didn't like using just two guns at the same time". What's worse is that they're focusing only on up close graphics and not technical achievements or anything.

Why is gears 2 getting scores so high when the game is barely a minor improvement over the original? Resistance 2 is not just a huge improvement over the original, there's just nothing like it out there in terms of specs. There are lots of third person shooters out there that have even more people playing online.

Either reviewers are being paid to overlook Gears and to downgrade resistance for minutiae, or they're just full of sh1t. Reviews are not about stating personal opinions about how you didn't like the twist that the story took or the improvements over the last game, they are about stating how well executed these new features and improvements are.

When people saw that Game Informer gave 8.5 to the new resistance when the last one got a 9.5, we knew they're full of sh1t. Same for Gamepro, which gave the first a 9 out of 10 and the new one got a 4 out of 5, which is just plain retarded. Same for 1up. These aren't just improvements, there are no shooters out there with an achievement this big.

Microsoft knew they had competition so they had to sabotage it with their usual way instead of playing fair. I'm not speculating, this is what they usually do.
