Gears of War 2 Ending Big Dissapointment *Spoilers*

After watching the the 14 minutes of gameplay that was leading up to the very final cutscene, I found myself very disappointed. It seems like Epic followed in the exact footsteps of Halo 2 and just rewrote the same story.

I don't see why people are complaining. Its not the best ending but its a HUGE improvement over gears 1 ending. At least epic is actually TRYING to be cinematic. Its their first try at a cinematic game so its bound to suck a bit. I really don't know what you guys were expecting.

Well if you didn't play it there is the ending. Its a HUGE improvement in my opinion. You have to remember cinematics and story isn't Epic's strong point. Gameplay and multiplayer is though

Both Gears of War games can now be credited with horrific story lines.
So that city just dropped into a sinkhole which caused the surrounding bay area to flood it? GG for originality. Those locust bastards should have built an arc. Mediocre narrative at the end, as well. Terrible ending to a terrible story.

Games have come a long way and there is no excuse for a lacklustre story. Games are rivaling the movie industry even surpassing it dollar for dollar so there is no excuse. i bought a pro 20gb model about a month before the release of halo 3 and i had many (and i mean many...especially during summer break) all-nighters with my friends over xbl

the place where i keep it is in is an area (3ft H x 4.5ft W x 3ft D) that is closed on the sides, top, bottom, and back (except for a hole for cables) and 2 openable glass windows on the front (and i sonetimes for get to open that) its part of the tv storage unit on the bottom

and it gets hella hot in there...no joke

but back to MP42409 comment...there is no way you can get warrenty to work on that so your stuck either getting another 360, or buying/playing another system...that is IF what you said about getting RROD while playing a leaked copy is true

Totally expected. I have a 360 and gears and I beat it and it was an absolute disappointment. RAAM a boss battle? I thought they were kidding. I love how 360 fans attack SOCOM for being a MP only title yet are willing to accept a game with no story, no improvement, and a multiplayer mode that added a whole player. Boy that's innovation for you.

Well I just beat gears of war 2 with my friend's modded 360. And man, it's really just gears 1.5.

Maybe gears 1.75.

I am a big fan of Gears 1, but this felt just like a lot of the same. And the ending was straight BS. It really feels as if they could have had a bigger climatic ending. And proof that I've played the game, here are a couple quotes that were really entertaining.

"If they can ride it, so can we"

Graphically, it is just gears 1 with better lighting. However, one huge improvement in the graphics is the scale of things. But texture-wise, and anti-aliasing it's all the same. And there wasn't that many new gameplay additions.

Still I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and the game deserves a 9/10.

Yeah and here we go, "you're just a PS3 fanboy" or "GTFO troll" or whatever. But that's just my opinion.

You might just want to rent or borrow Dead Space. It doesnt have much replay value... well for me anyway. It's just like RE4 when you have the Tommy Gun and know you can annihilate everything with one weapon even on the hardest difficulty without flinching.

I wish there was more of it though since the game itself is great but too short. But yeah, it's drool worthy.

This ending is god awful. Especially when Dark Sniper is used to play to playing AAA exclusives such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

The story and ending to Gears of War 2 is comparable to Unreal Tournament III. Pointless, useless and extremely bland. Much like most of Xbox 360's exclusives.

from what i've been reading, it appears resistance 2's multiplayer isn't all that it's cracked up to be. co-op is bland and overly repetitave, 60 player multi is hectic (which some people like) but the levels are just overly huge in order to fit 60 people, and not enough time was spent on developing this game. it could have been BEAST but meh.

just wait for killzone 2. proper dev cycle.

I'm not necessarily defending Epic but a possible explanation is they have a different focus than say Hideo did with MGS4. Epic probably knew the vast majority buy this game for the multiplayer aspect so this ending for the single player was an "11th hour" effort. *shrugs* Who knows, we'll see once the reviews pour in.

I know I'm not the first person to say this, but if THAT was the "greatly improved" storyline that Cliffy B boasted about, I feel sorry for 360 owners. I mean, to be fair, EPIC has never been known for its good storylines or their revolutionary gameplay. They mostly focus on graphics and gore.

But still...Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, Viva Pinata, and now Fable 2 and Gears 2. All of these games have had mediocre storylines. I am a gamer who enjoys sophisticated storylines (a la Bioshock, Mass Effect, and MGS4), so it bothers me when these other games are passed off as AAA titles. What bothers me even more is when 360 fanboys DEFEND the storylines of these games. It doesn't speak too highly of their intelligence.

I can't say that I'm surprised at the crappy ending. I'm more surprised that people thought Gears 2's storyline would be good at all.

Honestly and truthfully i couldn't care less. I didn't play the first gears because of its amazing story it was just great fun. Loads of great games have weak story lines Mario games are hardly in depth story games but there still brilliant.
At the end of the day a great story lasts one play-threw maybe two (might of missed stuff the first time threw) the fun lasts a lot longer.

does a game have to have a huge epic ending if it is not the end of the game? I mean, isn't there going to be a gears 3? Maybe save the best for last. It didnt work out so well for halo 3 but then again I dont think 3 was the real end to the series.

I actually prefer cliffhanger endings. It is what makes me keep coming back to "Lost" each season.

gears was my first 360 game back when.

the 1 player mode was ok. i didnt care for the multiplayer either.

but i really loved the 2 man co op. that's where (to me) the heart of the game was.

sadly most people just want to play in multiplayer matches and go for kill count achievements.

1)Part 2 of a trilogy so why should it have a climatic ending if the story is not over?

2) Multiplayer is the real meat and bones of the game. Besides since none of u play the game yet whose to say the Middle might not be more climatic in advancing the story.

3)This game is only 6.7 GB's and nobody claimed that this game is short so that thats plus side.

4) 2 Man Co-op will definitetky make this game very good regardless.

5)People just keep trying to find reasons to hate on sh!t thats good.
