I have no sympathy for game pirates

It's not like you can ACCIDENTALLY pirate a console game. You have to WANT to break the copy protection and seek out the tools to do so. Plenty of bogus defenses are presented by criminals…. like…

Yeah right. We believe you. And then you accidentally uploaded the full game code to a thousand people on bit torrent, along with a key generator that got in there too somehow. You don't need a backup copy of a legally purchased game. In the unlikely event that you do screw up your disc..."
