Infinite Undiscovery had all of the ingredients for a potentially legendary role playing experience. Backed by world renowned publisher Square Enix and helmed by famed developer Tri-Ace of Star Ocean fame, the title has been garnering massive amounts of attention for its various claims of innovation, originality and forward thinking concepts. Unfortunately, the final product never instills anything but a "been there, done that" feeling with a mediocre effort that fails to please.

As a long time RPGer, I can say that of all genres of videogames, there's nothing worse than playing through a mediocre-to-sucky RPG. It's like sitting through a long and boring lecture that gets even longer because it's such a horrible time.

DUDE! Most of the PS2 RPGs aren't all that great---most of them ARE 6 and 7s and copies of each other.

But we're not talking about the PS2. We're talking about the 360 trying to break into the RPG market and hence there is more pressure on games like this. And in this case, that game failed.

If you want to establish yourself as a JRPG console, you need to have at least a few good ones and not just a bunch of mediocre ones only.

No fanboy stuff here---I'll buy a 360 if they have a few JRPGS that I MUST have and can't get it on the PS3.

Uh...like I said they werent all 10s. but they were still nice to have.
By the way I gotta dissagree with you about what you said ealier about the AAA games any game can be AAA to someone and complete garbage to someone else. I dont listen to reviewers I can decide for myself.
For instance FF7 yeah we all know its AAA. but then theres Legend of Legaia which I think is AAA but most wont agree huh? so basically If I'd of been like you and only bought AAA games I'd of missed out an that sweet, sweet gem as well as others.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule...my personal one is Xenogears. Not many folks appreciated that game until years after. But generally speaking, AAA games tend to be good ones, with the truth of the matter taking place over time.

I'm pretty sure this game won't be viewed as a classic in a couple of years. Are you?

Back to the important topic

The score is basically stating that the reviewer, and some others may not have liked the game as much as they would a higher end RPG that they feel they are entitled to. If you think you'll like it either way, pick it up. Emphasis on review scores only became so important this Gen anyway.

If you like rpgs scores like this shouldn't deter you from getting the game.

Why are people always taking a game (like Lair in this instance) and comparing it to another genre (Infinite Undiscovery in this case) and saying that the website is saying that Lair is better than ID. You guys do realize that the scores are based ON THE GENRE in which it's in. If you were scoring games OVERALL (as many of you idiots seem to believe) you'd find that many games would have much lower scores than what they were given. It's impossible to score a game overall because you can't compare games that aren't within their same genre due to the differences of the game.

For example, could I say that Madden is better than MGS4? Or that Halo is better than DOA4? No, but I can say that Madden is better than... well, I guess I can't say anything because EA owns the NFL license so no one else makes football games. But, on the flipside I could say that Live is better than 2K or vice versa.

Or even better, maybe the critic just rated the game... you know, as a game by itself and wasn't comparing it to everything else? Makes sense, yes? I mean to think that someone who rate a game AS A GAME BY ITSELF is crazy!? You guys make me laugh.

Xbots can keep breaking out the time machine(themart) because thats the only time when the 360 was doing well. Now its major hyped releases are flopping all over the place. Lair and Haze are terrible games, just like This one and the rest of the 360's titles that were released this year.

Truth hurts.. but yea, you can always fall back on Lair. Talk to the dreamcast owners to see what they always fell back on as well. LoL this is great.

There haven't been many RPG's that scored a 9.0 or higher. Mass Effect is 9.1 on Gamerankings though. the PS3's Disgaea 3 scored 8.1. I don't care what most of these reviewers have to say about these games. As I will most likely buy Infinite Undiscovery anyways. Gamepro is terrible at reviewing games anyways. It was a decent mag the 1st two years it was published, but it went completely downhill after that. I still have the 1st issue of GamePro with some canned sports players on the cover. Gamepro sucks now. I only read Game Informer and OXM.

Haze and Lair are 10x's worse then Infinite Undiscovery. Tales of Versperia is an excellent game. No where close to being a flop. Besides MGS IV what other PS3 exclusive scored over 9.0 this year? Ratchet and Clank: Booty got a 76%. Check Gamerankings.com

thats what makes infinite so bad.. it is their japan push game. its an exclusive from those fair weather friends at square.

Last Remnant? maybe but the ps3 gets it later too so its not a must play on 360 for new customers.

and yeah ps2 has some 7 and 8 scoring rpg's.. but thats just, why upgrade for a 7 and 8 game when you can continue playing them on your ps2.. mind you Persona 4 comes out this fall for ps2 (sony really should have pushed for that one to be be on ps3)
