GTAIV DLC Rumored To Be Huge And Cost 1600 MS Points

Torrence Davis of The Bitbag writes, "Last night on the Warzone, Weapon X gave us the skinny on the GTAIV DLC. Here are the things he mentioned:

1. GTAIV DLC will arrive in late October or Early November
2. The DLC will be more like an expansion pack
3. It's rumored to cost 1600 MS points and will be very large

None of this is confirmed yet but Weapon X has some very good sources. Stay tuned for more info on this in the coming weeks."

You are not going to get those things for free, and I believe you knew that. There isn't a developer in existence that would give away 50mil dollars worth of content for free. $50mil is more than what it costs to develope, box, and ship alot of games.

On top of that, around that time, we'll be getting an improved version of Bioshock, Little Big Planet, and Resistance 2; which will be occupying our time until Killzone 2, Infamous, Heavy Rain, and other games comes out.

Yeah, HUGE DLC to the highest selling game this generation, or possibly any, for $20. Gee, who would want that [rolls eyes]. Sony fans have been downplaying this for a long time because they wish they could play it. If the DLC storyline is anywhere near as good as the main storyline, then it'll be worth it.

I think the biggest let down on gta4 was the online mode which should have been like burnout paradise. The fact of the matter is liberty city stories (multyplayer) was much more fun than gta4 online.

if the expansion is anything like the game that is... i too was waiting a long time for this game... i even left work early to get it and play it.. but i was very very disappointed.. the single player was boring and repetitive and the multi was well.. just boring... and repetitive.. i traded it in in the first month while i could still get max value for it.. and i dont know many people that still have this crap game sitting around.. so i wouldnt consider it a big loss...

I generally don't buy into rumors, especially ones concerning the DLC for GTA IV.

As far as what it is, we've had CVG say its essentially a "Vice City" addition to the game.
Then we have this site saying it'll be "huge and expansion"-like.

Then we have Lazlo, a producer for the game, saying its new missions, weapons and new story elements, which could be anything.

I just wish they would say what it is. If only to build hype for it. Because if it's coming around Gears 2's release date, it better be something worth wile.

1600 MS Points is actually quite cheap for a 'huge' update.
Problem is; for an 'huge' DLC package this is going to steal a massive amount of space on peoples 360's, I see at LEAST 2.5GB being taken up.

I don't expect anything crazy like a different state/city. I don't believe that one ounce.

Why would Rockstar waste another scenario for a future GTA sequel?
More missions and possibly cinematics in single player maybe with some new vehicles, weapons, maybe a few radio stations, stand up acts, TV shows and to be a bit like an add on pack like GTA London was for GTA1, that's about it.

Don't expect a full blown sequel. I'm not.

1. The PS3 version WAS in SD (whatever gave you THAT idea).
2. Whoever said PS3 wouldn't get anything? Certainly not Rockstar (they even said it was VERY likely, saying that it's all but official that Sony would get something).
3. This is the Bitbag and a blog that reported this. You apparently missed the entire point of the story. It got him nowhere. Which was intended. He's still struggling even with his success, either his love was murdered or his cousin. (I don't care about spoilers because anyone who is reading this should have beaten it already). The American Dream is never achieved because he could never define it. This is fantastic writing worthy of the best award-winning films.

Once again we have a lot of people completely missing the point of this game, instead wanting a suped-up version of San Andreas. That's not they kind of game Rockstar wanted to make. I love the fact that they took story-telling this seriously, but like all works of art, not everyone is going to appreciate it. There's nothing wrong with that but it is a fact of life and art. There are people that don't like The Godfather (the movie), Lord of the Rings, The Empire Strikes Back, The Bicycle Thief, Mozart and so on...Nothing can be all things to all people. But please, for the love of all things holy, don't knock something if you missed the entire point.

A more realistic crime story set in a more realistic world than any of the previous GTAs. Jet packs found at Area 51 and such don't have much place in that world and it's a fact.

The game wasn't about taking over a crime syndicate, or pimping out cars, or becoming a kingpin.

I, for one, can't wait for the DLC and I know I'm not alone. Thankfully, the members of N4G don't speak for the majority. People ask who still plays this game? Apparently a lot of people because it's the #3 game on Live and probably the same for PS3.

I enjoyed the game for what it was, but the reason I bought it on the PS3 is because I could care less about the DLC. The story was the most enjoyable of the series besides III, animations were crisp and the city life was fun if not a little tedious for certain activities.

I still play MGS4 in fact I played it this morning on my 4th run through because I always find new things to do. First game I've actually beat more than once in a single player campaign. I played GTA 4 for a few hours between three days, and then sold it out of boredom. I'm not afraid to admit there is one 360 game I'd really like to see on Ps3 either, and that is Gears. Get all the dlc for GTA in the world for all I care. More trash is still trash.

Fail to realize that just because we get information first, post on message boards and everything game related. That we are what you will call a minority. Most of us are bored with GTA IV, MSG4 and pretty much any game. We are anticipating all the new titles that are about to release this fall. But that has nothing to do with the common consumer a lot of people didn't get GTA IV yet because they get most thier games during the holiday season. So this DLC does make it more appealling to someone about to purchase this game or die hard fans. I personally will be to busy with LBP(I don't think im every going to play the regular game just build levels), Gears 2, Fallout 3, Saints Row 2, Force Unleashed, Resistance 2 that i don't really care about it. But never underestimate the buying power of non-internet fanboys!

What other true exclusives does 360 still have? Remember it's not an exclusive if it comes out on another platform. Both their highest rated games have the same metric, but the Ps3 still has actual high rated exclusives besides MGS4 like Drakes Fortune, Resistance, and R&C.

This is a GAMERS site before anyone else. No one made a rule that stated that anyone HAD to be hyped up for GTA4 DLC regardless of who gets it exclusive, timed or otherwise. Some people just think the game failed to meet expectations. Maybe it's THAT you should "deal with" instead of trying to paint some kind of conspiracy theory...oh, wait, that is all you 360 fanboys know how to do when so many people "attack" something you want to protect like it's gold. By the way, Immaculate, Zappass isn't living in a Sony bubble, since the game was the same on both consoles. Metacritic is the average score of all the PRESS scores. It doesn't gauge fan scores. Sometimes, fans DO disagree with press critics. And many people that played the game on BOTH platforms had the same complaints. It's not just the Sony console's game that had the issues. And to note, i own both ps3 and xbox, and honestly, im a little disapointed this DLC is console specific, because IMHO GTA worked better on the ps3, because of its motion blur clearing out the jaggies that the 360 version suffered with, although frame rate and online worked much smoother on the xbox, i bought this game for the single player, and i hate jaggies.

Two things are working against the DLC...

First, GTAIV was by far the weakest in the series - just, not, fun - so who cares about some expansion that'll cost $20.

Second, when the DLC launches there will be far too many other games to play.

MS wasted 50million that could have been invested in to a new IP or some indie developers.

It wasn't fun TO you. I know a LOT of people that loved the game, myself included. My point is that not everyone is going to agree with either of us so that's not something it has going against it.

Secondly, COD4's maps came out 6 months after it released and it still was successful and those were just maps. Adding a whole game can still do really well for GTA. Especially when you consider how popular it is online.

Not everyone is going to get the new DLC but I doubt it's going to be the failure that some think it might be.

I've regretted my purchase of CoD4 DLC purchase. I haven't touch that game shortly after the map purchase. One thing I've learn about this gen and the whole DLC thing is buy it if I know I will play it. I enjoy DLC but I'm starting to feel that developer are abusing DLC.

gears 1 was OK and so was RESISTANCE, but remember resistance 1 was a launch title while gears wasnt ;)

And I really hope the DLC is good, it's the only reason I got both versions on launch (that and for achievements). I really think the PS3 is a much better looking game and I really get annoyed when I play it on 360 but the DLC could make forget all about it.
