360 Gamer review: Unreal Tournament III

If videogames are anything to go by, the sports of the future will be somewhat different to those 360 Gamer enjoy today. There'll be no more featherweight footballers going down with the slightest breeze, fishing for free kicks and penalties. There'll be no more gentlemanly conduct as players applaud the efforts of their opponents. Hell, the crowd at Wimbledon probably won't even be quiet. No, games like Speedball 2 and Deathrow have hinted at a far more hands-on approach to sports entertainment, with beefcake players pounding seven bells out of one another and occasionally maybe scoring a point, a goal, or whatever.

You're probably thinking, 'How is this relevant? What the hell does all this have to do with a first-person shooter?' It's really very simple. While it does have a first-person viewpoint and there is a heck of a lot of shooting involved, Unreal Tournament is as much a sports game as it is an FPS.
