10v10 confirmed for FIFA 09

But why not 11v11? EA tells Gamesradar why

FIFA 09 will feature 10v10 online play on Xbox 360 and PS3. David Rutter, Line Producer on the PS3/360 version told Gamesradar: "We've managed to get 10 v 10 this year online through strength of will and technological nous. [But] we want to make sure the control system for controlling goalkeepers is compelling enough before putting it in, because no game has done it particularly well, if it's even been in there.

of the fifa series well use to be until i played pro evo...think 10v10 is a good feature but 11v11 would have been better for the real game

Epic5769d ago

I mean, who would want to play as the goalkeeper.

I don't think many people would, the mechanics would be slightly too different. but I guess it would be more 'complete' if it was 11 v 11. And add to the gameplay element.

10 v 10 is absolutely brilliant though, I very much doubt pro evo and konami could match that, in this years iteration. Even if they did, probably would be a bit laggy.

But as a pro fan, i think I am going to buy both now, instead of just sticking to one. (unless pro has 10 v 10, which again, I doubt).

konami cant even get 1vs1 right. I used to be a big fan of the pro evo series until i played pes2008, that game was a disgrace to the series, fifa 08 was better in everyway.

If konami doesnt deliver this time round... they can kiss my ass for good!

Fifa 08 was garbage. Yes it looked amazing, had all the licenses etc., but the gameplay was just as bad as any other in the series. The tricks system is a joke, the passing was god awful (although they addressed it somewhat in Euro 2008) the players were unbalanced and the ai was mediocre at best. Yea pro evo sucked this year too, but a sucky pro evo is still better than the best fifa has come up with so far.

The graphics were no good except for the closeups, and even then all the players all look oddly sinister...

but does anyone know if it's possible to do 2v1 (or 2v2 or whatever) online with two different PS3's? In other words, me and my friend want to play online together, but on the same team against someone else. Is that possible?

This is for Fifa 08 or Fifa 09, and for a normal match not be a pro or anything.

PirateThom5769d ago

I see no reason why not. Just like games with TDM, you should be able to select your side.

This isn't confirmation, but I agree the feature and option should be there and easy to impliment.

the_gaming_guy5769d ago

Not as far as I know. I play FIFA 08 regularly and no, there is no way apart from arranging a Be A Pro match in which you two are the only ones on your team.

TheFreak5769d ago (Edited 5769d ago )

oh be a pro could have been so excellent but its not :( Because there are ppl who are idiots online and thats a shame. Many many drops out of the game if they are behind in scoreline and (or) ppl dont pass the ball LOL! SO ANNOYING!!

Arsenal4Ever5769d ago

FIFA 09 will definetly be better than PES 09. It depends, i mean why isn't Konami saying anything about their game.

PES4 was the best PES game then the franchise began to die.

shine13965769d ago

I don't know...I preferred pes3 over pes 4 and cause the latest ones broken in a lot of respects, I still play pes 6 on my ps3. by the way, pes6 is my nomination for best in series if played on ps3. (at least the ps3's with BC)

Strife Lives5769d ago

Did they mean that as a joke? Cuz,being a goal keeper wouldnt exactly be fun online lol

the_gaming_guy5769d ago

Enlighten me, why I should "LMAO" at the title.

Nothing funny here...move on.

Is Anybody Out There?

GamingLives mourns the decline of socialising in online games and explores why.

" If an individual wants to include a social side to their gaming, they must now do so in dedicated communities, gaming clans and guilds, or by restricting themselves to their own friendship groups. No longer can it be found in our everyday experiences of the games we play online."

The reason why no one chats in-game anymore is because of three types of people:
1) The assholes that take the game too seriously and insult anyone that's better or worse than them,
2) The trolls that do nothing but teamkill or play loud, obnoxious music through the mic, and
3) The prepubescent snot-nosed children that are a mix of everything above.

If gamers actually had respect for one another and did their best to keep a clean competitive online environment, then maybe more people would be willing to plug their mics in. The odds of that ever happening, though? Slim. Very slim. It's a fact that being an anonymous entity online gives people a scapegoat to be immature; it gives them a mask to hide behind, and it's common for gamers to abuse that anonymity. Half of the stuff gamers say to each other while playing a game, they would never say face-to-face. Try going up to a random person at a gas station or shopping mall and call them a "d***-sucking f***** n*****" or talk about their mother. Odds are they'd deck you in an instant. But online? There's nothing they can do. It's essentially a Get Out Of Jail Free card.

It's a sad reality, but that's just the way it is -- and as much as we want it to change, it probably never will.

Football games: Worth every penny or a total con?

TGC writes: There are those that like to argue whether you are a Fifa gamer or a Pro Evolution Soccer gamer. I’m going to take it one step further and say your either a football gamer or a non football gamer. The fact of the matter is a new game comes out every year with possibly the slightest difference from the previous game and they release it onto the shelves in quantities thinking that they’ve made something new and improved. I really think they should hold a prize for anyone who can spot the difference between FIFA 09 and FIFA10 because I’m really struggling.

I use to buy every sports game I was interested in madden,MLB,nba and wwe along few others and I remember buying playing for few days than thinking why I paid full price for this. Than one year about 4 years ago I said no more and I have never bought another sports game at launch sometimes I do buy me when they $20 on craiglist of sale but that's barely

IMO sports games don't do enough to justify a fully price and that's just my opinion

If 2k can sell nfl 2k5 for $19.99 and make a profit than why are games today with less content are selling for full 60? No wonder why EA ran to nfl and bought the exclusive rights

FIFA
Nfl
Nba
MLB
Wwe
NHL
Etc,

Sports games shuld be every 2 years and in between dlc and more updates and stuff like tournaments

berndogskate4279d ago

If people are willing to buy them then whats the problem? i think its cod or mw123 you should be talking about, the new pes and fifa look good this year.

The Scourge Of Odd Numbered Gamerscore

There's no doubting that Gamerscore has been a phenomenal success for this generation of consoles. Microsoft's scoring system has proven to be an addictive mechanism that has incentivised gamers to keep playing even when a game is completed. So much was its success, that Sony even got into the act with the belated introduction of Trophies.

But if there's one thing we hate more than anything else, it's those odd-numbered achievements that mess up your score. Here's our pick of five of the offenders
