With the release of the street/track-focused GRiD, the lamenting cries of rally race enthusiasts across the globe for the legacy of Colin McRea are almost deafening. Fortunately, 2XL Games (made up of former members of Rainbow Studios) and THQ seem prepared to step it up and pick up the slack for those who aren't afraid of getting a smudge of mud on their fenders. 2XL has lofty ambitions for Baja, and the team's stated goal is to produce a rally-racing game that will serve as the Gran Turismo of off-road speed demons, putting a heavy focus on technical driving prowess and ruthlessly realistic physics.
From what 2XL has shown so far, it appears that it's already made significant strides in separating the realism of Baja from past efforts like Motocross Madness and MX Unleashed.
