Doom fiction gives the franchise a soul

Gamertell takes a look at the latest Doom novel ("Worlds on Fire" by Matthew Costello, Feb. 2008) and compares it to the four previous books in the franchise, quickly pointing out various similarities and difference.

The writer describes the books as "sci-fi/horror pulp fiction" and contends, as the title suggests, that they "put a deeper storyline to hit games of the past." He also describes the books as "fun reads that give the franchise a soul" since most of the games did not offer much in terms of a story.
