ive been waiting for DLC i was hoping for something bigger but this is good enough.

SynGamer5924d ago

Considering Mass Effect is planned as a Trilogy (i believe), a small expansion makes sense. There's only so much (i assume) that they can add while working on the second game which takes the story further.

There will be more DLC. This is the first installment including the vicious Batarians from the novel.

alextz5924d ago

This is very good news! Now all we need to know is whether we can use our data from the last save or not.

wageslave5924d ago

Im not sure what you mean. Actually, BioWare has said that you'll be able to continue with your Character into the sequels. This DLC will probably add new planets, new NPCs and scenarios.

The content will just become part of the universe (id imagine). Sure this is speculation, but with the nature of the game being what it is, I'd say there is no other conclusion.

OC_MurphysLaw5924d ago

Especially when its at 400pts. I honestly think i would rather see small expansions at 400pts rather than full blown ones at 1200-1500pts.

SynGamer5924d ago

I would have loved to of seen some new armor/weapons/etc. added with the DLC, but a 90 minute expansion is pretty good for $5. Not to mention the Mass Effect universe is just a blast to play in.

wageslave5924d ago (Edited 5924d ago )

What I'd like to see with Mass Effect 2 is some MMO play. Sure, this is a bit off topic, but what I was thiking was this:

When you travel to a new System, you'll be able to see other people there in real time. When you land on a planet, you'd find them there (if they sent a landing party).

Being that you're all on the Normandy and all Cpt. Sheppard, I dont think they'd make such a change. But the game world and art direction are great. Mass Effect would be a great game as a MMORPG, with less story and narrative direction.

Dont get me wrong, ME is truely a masterpiece, but the mechanics of the game are just as good, I'd love to see that but in a cooperative/PvP world in a Sandbox-style universe. Maybe throw in some trading, salvaging, pirating and competitive factions and you've got another stellar hit.

Some aspects of Eve Online, some aspects of Wing Commander built around what Mass Effect is today, and you'll have a great new game.

minefield5924d ago

I'd love for that to be a possibility, but if Valve can't even make a 16-player Team Fortress 2 game run decently I doubt that a MMO style RPG running in the Mass Effect engine (UT3) would be playable - it runs like a dog enough as it is.

Beautiful idea though. One that I think will become a reality soon enough. A Mass Effect MMORPG makes perfect sense....

They need to make Earth playable

green5924d ago

So agree. There is one planet you land in that looks alot like earth but it aint.Hope we see earth sometime

Anyway the downloadable content seems intersting with alot of action. Also hope we get new weapons someday.

Skerj5924d ago

Curse them for making DLC I actually want. I'll curse them even more if it takes place in one of the 4 sidequest areas you see dozens of times in the main game.

PS360WII5924d ago

Seeing that they said it'll be roughly 90 mins it might actually not be a dig site or one of the 3 buildings they use through the game.

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox335d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.

The Mass Effect N7 Day teaser has already been decoded, and it features Liara T'Soni talking about The Council, and The Geth can be heard too.

Better not bring back Shepherd from the dead with some half assed space magic.

Snowb420535d ago

If you get your readiness level high enough in Mass Effect 3, *spoilers* you can see Shepard taking in a breath of air under some rubble. It would depend on whichever ending is canon.

@snowb420.
Yeah I saw that at the end of my play through as well. I think they will bring Shepard back….. or at least a mutant version turned villain. Lol
