Splinter Cell Movie Script, Penned by G.I. Joe and Gears of War Film Writer

Split-screen: "Remember that Splinter Cell movie from Paramount Pictures? The project was put on hold after transferring over to Dreamworks and then Viacom, Paramount's parent company, purchased Dreamworks further adding to the muddle. The Splinter Cell movie script, like all things magical, is already available for public viewing on the net but an interesting detail to crop up: This text was penned not by series scriptwriter J.T. Perry but none other than Stuart Beattie. Yes, the same Beattie who's a part of the weapon of mass mindf**k G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra."

1.1 - Lol, what?
Dungeon Siege, Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, Hitman, Max Payne...some truly horrible movies were made in the name of gaming.

it could be cool. but as history tells us, and what ive seen of the gears of war script im not holding out for this one. Prince of persia will probably be the best game adaptation. but again im not expecting big things.

GI JOE was AWESOME!!!! Problem is you guys are haters and complain about EVERYTHING!!! It is based on a cheezy, 80's cartoon...what did you expect, a Academy awards contender???? No, it's GREAT for what it is...a Hollywood blockbuster that is action packed! Go Joe!!

2.3 - I thought
GI Joe was a fun movie that kept true to the zany goofball formula of the cartoon. Oscar worthy? no. Upset i spent money on it? not at all.

Yeah, true. Once in a while, he can get things right. Or another way of looking at it: He's only gotten it right twice so far. :P

Let's not forget his terrible adaptation of "30 Days of Night".

God, given the flop that was the latest GI Joe movie, this one will suck. And also, its splinter cell, and because its (conviction) not coming to PS3 it (the movie) must suck, right?

The problem is Hollywood doesn't look at GI Joe and see flop. They see a film that did over 100 million world wide on opening weekend. They see a film that despite average reviews in the 30% category, it beat earning expectations.

By the time BR/DVD/Digital DL sales are complete, a movie will make 3 to 4 times of the amount it takes in on opening weekend. That means the studio is smiling at 400 million from GI Joe. And they have announced the sequel will soon be greenlit.

Writer of G.I.Joe movie? No thanks. I refuse to put up with more torture from hollywood and it's crap. Splinter Cell is not a full-blown action like GI Joe or Transformers were, and that's why it has to have a great story+script writer. And a writer for the GI Fail movie is not the right choice for this kind of work. Maybe someone who has similar talent as The Bourne trilogy writer....

5.1 - agreed
its needs to be tense, and you need to feel like your right there in the dark with the nightvision.

no matter what u need mike ironsides voice over. not that he would play sam fisher for age reasons but a unknown actor with ironsides voice

This could be bad. If its script is written by the same guy who scripted G.I Joe, then it could be all over already as G.I was terrible. I'm sure it will pull through though (:

7 - hollywood is crap at the mo
they are regurgitating the same thing over and over, all the marval films are the exact same, just a different charachter and love interest, GI joe is the worst, so generic it was a joke

8 - wait wait...
unlike the gi joe project the writer had to come up with an original story for characters based on 2 min public service announcements and action figures...

making an original story is pretty hard ... but with splinter cell you have the tom clancy books as a templet to begin with ... so i'm not too worried about the gi joe guy getting his hands on this

10 - Beattie isnt all that bad
He wrote up the movie Collateral. Plus he only had a few weeks to work on the GI Joe script as it was just prior to the writers strike and also had the god awful Sommers come in and help with it...he's a bit hit and miss it seems honestly and since the last one was a totla miss maybe this will be a hit?

maybe...

George Clooney is the only actor they could cast as Sam Fisher.
