YEAH! i got a sh*t load of xbox games (most of them dont work :( ) but that's great news! I want to play GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas again with achivement! sure hope that they work on getting more titles working on the x360

I love my Playstation but thought that was a really stupid decision on Sony's part. They bash the competition, saying they'll always make BC a priority, and they turn right around and remove it for PS2 titles.

I'm just hoping they enable downloading of PS2 games through the PSN sometime in the near future.

it's good to have the 60GB unit. Just picked up God Of War 2 for 15 bucks. i agree with you that they should of kept that feature too, but if more people would of bought the console at launch it probably would have been kept.

That's probably the only thing I hate about the ps3. I have a 60 gb, but because of Sony's refusal to keep bc, all my relatives prefer the 360 since we have catalogs of 40 ps2 games or more.

Sense of continuation for your old games, is a big incentive to buy a game console. At least initially.

I am actually laughing at that comment. First of all, I can play 100% of PS2 and PS1 games on my PS3. Any PlayStation fan that was interested in having backwards compatibility could have informed themselves on time and bought one that had backwards compatibility if it was so important for them, like it is for me. I doubt you're a PS fan anyway, so why would you care?

Then you talk as if (1) Microsoft has 100% support for the Xbox library, (2) as if the Xbox 1 library was as good in terms of quantity, quality and variety as the PS2 library (lol) which would make it a true achievement to be entirely emulated on a next-gen console and (3), as if this wasn't a rumor. This is not confirmed yet. Not saying it's impossible, not saying is not gonna happen, just saying that dancing and cheerleading for some rumor is as stupid as when 360 fanboys were rejoicing hypocritically every time a MGS4 to 360 rumor came out.

And finally, you act as if it was somehow impossible for Sony to make PS3 backwards compatible. You fanboys fail to understand that PS2 is a cashcow for Sony. PS2 has been emulated by PC a long time ago already. PS3 could emulate the PS2 with no problem and it's not Sony's inability to do so, it's the sacrifice of profit it would mean for Sony to suddenly stop selling the PS2 in favor of the money losing PS3.

I do not think it's farfetched to think that full PS2 compatibility is on the way and that it could potentially arrive the day the PS3 is profitable (i.e. probabyl next year). As I said before, if it was so urgent, you could have bought a PS3 at launch. At this point in time there are enough PS3, PS1 and PSN games to keep Sony gamers busy if they are waiting for PS2 compatibility.

I for one am enjoying PS2 games in conjunction with my PS3 games, PSN games and PS1 games on my PS3. For those that are waiting for PS2 compatibility, I don't think they'll have to wait, but lets not act like the original Xbox had something on the PS2 library let alone the PS1 library which is still compatible with every PS3. That's not to mention that the original Xbox is compatible with what... 50% of games?

Anyway, enjoy your rumors and incomplete backwards compatibility if that makes you happy. And if you ask "Who's laughing now", well I hope for your own sanity and credibility that you're not forced to eat humble pie by being asked that question this generation, because I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

Well, you probably don't have a PS3 if you're asking that. There are no "unplayable" titles, at least not in my gaming library which is huge (about 40 PS1 games and 80 PS2 games). I played a few games with some issues, but they were corrected; for example, Indigo Prophecy used to have a glitch which made the music sound like a scratched disc and it was corrected.

If you actually had a PS3 you'd know that, or at least if you used it for Backwards compatible game.

And by the way, I'm also special.

It will give the xbots something to play for 2009 cause you know they won't get any good new games in 2009. Microsoft are trying to make them live off of overpriced expansions, multi-platform games, & last gen games. If they didn't do this then the xbots would have nothing to do when their 360 gets back from repairs again.

This is a very good idea and actually if you play a game without achievements you feel like there is no reward for your accomplishments. F-ck, playing through call of duty 2, 3, n 4 is no easy task. but thats the only way you can get the achievements on the game. this helps with replay value of a game. some achievements you got to go back through and get on easy or just to hard to get all in one trip. good idea, it will raise sales through the roof and make the dead black xbox come back alive with sales.

Really? I hated all the GTA's except IV. I thought the shallow plot and repetitive gameplay made for a terrible game.

I preferred Bully...I LOVE BULLY!

Also, are Doom 3, Half-life 2, or Blood Wake available on the Marketplace? I would SO download those!
