ooh... good topic, methinks. Some Star Wars games are amazing, and others are just an epic fail.

the fact that Farce Unleashed is on that list makes it obsolete. Games like X-Wing Alliance

I'd put Knights of the Old Republic 2 at #1. Then again I never played the SNES games that were on the list.

Agree about KOTOR2. But I also liked the Super Star Wars trilogy being on the list. Haven't thought about those games in ages. Makes me wish I still had a SNES.

I liked it too. My only complaint is that the story just fell apart towards the end of the game.

A good cross section of games. But I was disappointed that both Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2 were not on there and that the author chose "Jedi Academy" over "Jedi Knight 2." Oh well.
----

But I gotta make a comment on Star Wars snobs--those that dismiss the prequels because they "ruined the movies I saw as a kid"--and this quote:

"Like many nerds who grew up in the late seventies/early eighties, everything that I held dear about my childhood was ruined when I first heard about Jar Jar Binks and midichlorians."

Im sorry, but the prequels, like the original movies were made for kids. The same kids who enjoyed the prequels are comparable to you and your friends when you first saw the movies in the late seventies/early eighties.
In fact, when I first saw the Star Wars movies in 1994 (watched them back-to-back-to-back) at the age of 12 I thought C-3PO was annoying and hated that he was in the movie. I waited and waited for him to be destroyed and was overjoyed that he got blasted in 'Empire.'

Also, from Lucas' mouth:

"It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different; they have more midi-chlorians in their cells."

―George Lucas, establishing guidelines for the Expanded Universe in 1977.

if they're for kids why the stupidly convoluted story line. the originals were for kids...simple good vs evil. take out the evil empire. the new ones have trade blockcades, dumb politcal manvouring, and plays for power. its like a retarded social studies book.

I agree that the prequel story (Episodes 1 especially) was a bit convoluted as Lucas tried to balance the rise of the Empire and the story of Vader. However, the story started to become less convoluted by Episode 3 where the plot was overly simplistic--something that many reviewers used to go after the movie. But the truth is, Lucas isn't stupid. If anything, his only flaw is that he's just arrogant.

He knows that a majority of his fans are older than the "PG" rating of his movies and that they'd probably want a little meatier storyline than the originals especially since there is a lot to cover. For example, these fans are the ones that care about HOW the empire came into being, WHY Vader turned out the way he was, and WHAT the Clone War was. Did Lucas drop the ball in some areas, sure, but he also gave a credible reason as to why Palpatine was able to gain control.

At the same time, Lucas, like any businessman, wants to expand the fan base and bring in a new audience. Specifically kids--hence the "PG." To do that, you have to create things that appeal to that age group. I mean do you seriously think that Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber was aimed at the hardcore fans?

I'd rather NOT KNOW though. I liked the mystery of where the emperor came from. who was his teacher? how did he learn the force? how did he come to power? it let ur imagination run wild. when too much is explained it takes the mystery out of it. ie how did the force work? now that we know its dumb.

great point. like i was expecting to see the battle of tanav in the prequel trilogy. its like every character in passing in the OT was in the PT. every little thing they mentioned in the OT was in the PT also. it ruined it.

10 - Nice job
I'd pretty much agree with this except I'd have added the FPS dark forces instead of both KOTOR.

I'd agree 100% with the SNES trilogy. I spent way too much time on super empire strikes back. I'm not sure I ever actually beat Darth Vader at the end of that game.

And I liked Jedi Outcast much more than Jedi Academy.

13 - Tie fighter much better than X-Wing
They were basically the same game, only from different sides, and Tie Fighter did everything X-Wing did, only better since it was released later and they fixed all the kinks from X-Wing. Most specifically, the ability to match speed with your target with the press of a single button was KEY.

14 - Also...
I may be the only person than thinks this (seeing that I saw it listed as one of the worst games ever on some list today), but I loved Star Wars: Master of Teras Kasi.

14.1 - No hate, but..
Yeah, I think you might be one of the only people to enjoy that game. Then again, I'm sure if you played it recently... you might have a different view on it. I mean I used to love a lot of games back when I was younger.. but when I play them now? Not pretty.
