GameZone: Madden NFL 09 Review

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Madden NFL franchise finds itself being not only the most recognized football game that inspires its legion of fans to turn to it each year but it is also just about the only licensed NFL game in town. Madden NFL 09 is not just another game with an updated roster and better graphics but rather its an edition that brings the legion of Madden fans together with football fans giving the game a shot for the first time. In other words, Madden NFL 09 for the PlayStation 3 is a football game that's a major step in the right direction but also one that should please sports gamers of all levels.

3 - MAD AT THEM! Same thing every year.
IMO, I did not like the damn demo and I think the game is over hyped.

I don't play madden but it's a great score for a sport game! but I think, even without this score madden had always been selling, right?

I challenge this review when he said "...it is also just about the only licensed NFL game in town". It is the only licensed NFL game/series out now since that EA/NFL deal.( I don't believe they have made an NFL street game on current generation consoles)

6.1 - Actually
Actually EA came out with NFL Tour. Which is really just a sequel to NFL Street.

I bought every Madden from 2003-2007. I didn't buy 2008 because it was a step in the wrong direction and 30fps on the PS3 was simply unacceptable, as I felt snubbed by EA.

I will most likely be picking up this game based on the way the game felt in the demo and the reviews being positive. It felt close enough to the PS2 versions control wise, and finally looked Next-Gen graphic wise. That's what I was waiting for.

Madden doesn't need to change as much as everyone seems to say it does, because too much change would be a bad thing honestly. It's a sports game... how much can honestly change before you ruin the core gameplay? You can only tweak and improve, which is exactly what this year's version sounds like it has done.
