Games you should still be playing / Halo edition…yes the first one

TVGB: "Yeah, I know what you're thinking. I can hear you all yelling at your computer monitors right now, "You're living in the past!". Well, while that may be true in some aspects (I still pretend that Futurama and Mystery Science Theatre 3000 were never cancelled), I can safely say that it is not the case when it comes to videogames."

Actually otherZinc, you're STUPID.

The Halo series is like a schizophrenic drooling monkey. Sure they might be a riot to play with but in the end they're still retarded.

Halo-hardcore fans are a dime a dozen. They're all the foam-mouthed potheads of the world who need nothing more than a generic mind-numbing shooter to fill their educational voids. They'll defend that series to the death no matter how stupid it is. MC can die in under 3 seconds from stepping onto lukewarm coals, but somehow managed to survive the HEAT OF RE-ENTERING THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE.

The world needs less Halo and Gears of War games. We'll be better for it if those games never came out in the first place. Maybe we wouldn't all have gone sh*t in our pants when we heard about chainsaw bayonets. I swear that idea is fu**ing stupid and never was cool.

The Halo series is crap. The only time Halo could be enjoyable is if I could somehow take my brain out of my head and shove it up my own ass. Only then will I be on the same mental-level as it's fans.

"I always thought the first one was incredibly disappointing. In fact I didn’t really think Halo nailed what Bungie wanted it to do until the third one single player wise."

I found this in the comments in the article and thought it was really funny. If that's the case... I wish Bungie had never nailed it. lol

No doubt about it I was quite a fan of the first game. I probably would give a SLIGHT edge to Halo 2 (Halo 3 just makes me sad) but the first game just had so much charm and it really seemed fresh. Not that it did anything real new... but it did alot for console shooters I think. Especially in controls. Before playing that I really did have problems with controls for most other FPS games outside the PC. Console FPS games have come a long way since then, but I still think Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the finest multiplayer experiences I've had.

Warthogs that didn't blow up and pistols that weren't useless... those were the days.

Halo : CE is definitely the pick of the bunch. Not only for the ace game play but also for all the cool moments... First time driving a Warthog, first time encountering the Flood and so on.

Shame Halo 2 and 3 lacked the same sort of punch.

5.1 - Halo 2
I think Halo 2 was actually just as good as halo 1.

It's 3 where the series just fell apart.

It's repetitive, basic, and is pretty much like most FPS games... and yet I still enjoyed it immensely. It takes basic FPS formulas and does little to them better, tacks on a spiffy health recharge system, a weapon limit, and some neato vehicle mechanics, and somehow is still frustratingly addictive.

I think it might be the music. Or the concept of a Halo. The first game, atmosphere-wise, was wonderful in how it portrayed the mysterious space structure.

Sadly, the two games that followed it were crap aside from the multiplayer. In fact, that's why Halo 2 and 3 were meh. Bungie whored their game out to multiplayer instead of delivering a stellar singleplayer experience like they did with the first game.

*sigh*

Do note that Halo is the game that popularized the 2-weapon limit, the instant-access grenades, and the recharging health system that almost every other shooting game in existence (Gears, Army of Two, Resistance, Call of Duty) now has. And I said POPULARIZED, not INVENTED.

Bungie needs to remake Halo, just for the single player experience. Remake it completly, leave out online multiplayer (Halo 3 has that already) and focus on the singleplayer experience.

They could probably make the graphics better as well.

13 - Halo?
Yeah I played each one once... Then I traded them in for something else. These have never been great games for me, just decent fun. To be honest, I like my games to have more gore and/or realism and less weapons shooting pink shards and no such colorful armor.
