Four billion Halo 2 games played on Live

A recent post by Bungie revealed that, thanks to database programmer extraordinaire Roger Wolfson, games of Halo 2 online have 'officially surged over the four billion games played mark'. And that's in a little under two years after the game's launch.

Wolfson also notes that they're pretty close to hitting the four million unique players mark. Along with the update Bungie posted a lovely pie chart, which does more than take us back to our school days. It clearly shows that team-based games are by far the most popular.

I hate the COD2 muliplayer mechanics, they are simply terrible, and that's why so many people still play Halo 2, because of its basic yet responding and unique gameplay. There are too many WW2 shooters, and COD2 is NOT next gen by any other means than slightly better graphics. I could understand if you like COD2 becuase you have nothing to compare it to, but I swear if you've played one WW2 shooter, you may as well have played them all.

u r right, cod2 is the only good WW2 shooter out there. however, the multiplayer in my opinion, is not complicated enough, not enough variety of weapons, and takes little skill to get good at, its too limiting.so far ms is getting the best of the best sci-fi shooters, which are my favorite genre in multiplayer games, they are the most complicated, with most creative weapons, more customizable gameplay, etc.

i think there is a fare amount of skill in it, actually i think it is harder to be good at then most FPS. especially with how easy it is to die in it, makes it hard to stay alive and make kills at the same time.

For your question about one WW2 Shooter... BIA easly is the better choice for stragetic, fun, hitorically accurate WW2 shooter.

Now for your COD3 predictions... I highly doubt it will be good for 1 simple reason, Infinity Ward isn't making it.

9 - both are fun

but cod2 is just simple, yes its fun as hell but if another game came out and played just like cod2 (resistance maybe?) you would never notice. if a game ripped off halo everyone would notice. cod2 plays just like any pc fps but halo2 is faster paced, has much more variety with weapons and levels and vehicles and sticky grenades. plus in halo you're rarely ever at a point where you have to go looking for someone to kill. people are jumping out of everywhere.

i love both games and its hard to lable cod second to anything. but halo2's ultimate advantage is the "holy sh*t!" factor. in halo the craziest stuff can happen whereas in cod its just bang you died

Sounds like this guy gets pwned in Halo 2...Haha, only noobs bash on Halo 2. Call of Duty 2 is fun, but the maps are the same ole war torn streets...just like Resistance...Halo 2 has one of the best maps ever made in a FPS...lockout, midship, zanzibar, etc...which makes it very different from other FPS games.

14 - I've never played on XBL before...

so I don't know what this is like, but everyone that I hear, even down here in Jamaica who owns an xbox and has XBL say that it's really good. I never used to care about XBL, but now I kinda want to try it out. And by the way, 4 BILLION?!?! WHOA!!! That means if all 8 million people who own the game have played it, then each of those 8 million have played 500 or so online matches. Now how much of those 8 million HAVE played online matches? That is the REAL question.

And Gamers how the h3ll? can Halo 2 have 4 billion people I highly doubt that knowing thats just impossible that would mean other countrie's besides america would have gamers interested in this which in this case they aren't lol
